CUBA ~ Tomas Terry Theater - Cienfuegos - UNESCO ~

... Beautiful interior view of a majestic theater located in the historical centre of the city... an architectural gem steeped in history and elegance... a mixture of French, Spanish and Cuban architecture... the auditorium, in the shape of a horseshoe, boasts 950 seats and is decorated with Carrara marble, hand-carved wooden flooring, and a ceiling filled with stunning Classicist-style frescoes... this eclectic-style building is being considered to be one of the most important in the city... Thanks Angelo!ヽ(•‿•)ノ

This theater was built between 1887 and 1889 in honor of Tomás Terry Adans, one of the richest men in Cuba who made a huge fortune in the sugar business in the 19th century.

It was opened in 1895 with the excellent performance of Aida, by Giuseppe Verdi. Since then, numerous personalities from various nationalities have had the honour of performing in it.

The Historic Centre of Cienfuegos was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

Cuba is now ruled by Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez born in 1960, a Cuban politician serving as the president of Cuba since 2019 and as the first secretary of the Communist Party since 2021.

Trinidad is a town in the center of Cuba on the Caribbean coast near the Escambray Mountains. It was founded in 1514 by Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar under the name Villa de la Santísima Trinidad.

The town features some of the island’s best preserved Spanish colonial heritage from the time when the sugar trade was the main industry in the region. Nowadays, Trinidad's main industry is tobacco processing. Many of its most striking buildings, including the Museo Histórico Municipal and the Museo de Arquitectura Trinitaria, are situated around Trinidad’s central public square, Plaza Mayor.

CUBA ~ Plymouth Car ~

...Once more a great Caribbean postcard... Cuba's streets are famous for their iconic American classics from the 1950's also used as local taxis...a step back into automotive time... Heel Erg Bedankt Jonas en Sarah! ツ

Plymouth was a brand of automobiles based in the United States, produced by the Chrysler Corporation and its successor Daimler Chrysler. The brand first appeared in 1923 in the US to compete in what was then described as the "low-priced" market segment dominated by Chevrolet and Ford.

The Plymouth was the high-volume seller for the automaker until the late 1990s. The brand was withdrawn from the marketplace in 2001. The Plymouth models that were produced up to then were either discontinued or rebranded as Chrysler.

CUBA ~ Viñales Valley National Park - UNESCO ~

...Breathtaking nature view...postcard nr 3... not only a new UNESCO site but also a fantastic new addition to my National Park collectionツ... one of the most scenic places in all of Cuba... the country’s second most visited tourist destination after Havana... the red farmland and unique microclimate produce the best cigars in the world...Thanks so much for all these amazing surprises Gian Luca and Raffaella 【ツ】... to see all those places for real must be fantastic...
♥It is so true what I wrote above my blog...
Thanks to my postcard collecting (addiction㋡) I have met over the years so many wonderful people from all over the world ...Thank you all ♥

The Viñales National Park is located in the northwest Pinar del Río Province. The Sierra de los Órganos mountain range extends throughout the park, with dramatic formations known as "mogotes", tobacco plantations, tobacco drying houses and typical houses of the farmers. The mogotes – large, rounded  impressive rock outcroppings – are all that’s left of a limestone plateau that existed here 160 million years ago. They rise up from the flat plain sometimes at nearly 90 degree angles.

This area contains the largest and most beautiful cave systems of Latin America and the flora and fauna is very unique. Other attractions include: Indian Cave, the Ruiseñor Valley, Palenque de los Cimarrones, Cave of Santo Tomás, Majagua Canteras and Palmarito Cave System, San Vicente Valley and the town of Viñales.

Viñales is said to be Fidel Castro's favorite place in Cuba.

The Viñales Valley was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 1999.

The Plaza de San Francisco is the second oldest square in the city. The Lonja del Comercio (Chamber of Commerce) building in Old Havana served as the stock exchange in the capital until the 1959 Cuban Revolution. Today, it is an office building. Based in the building are local and foreign companies, the Brazilian Embassy, news agencies like CNN Havana Bureau, and the Habana Radio Station.

Havana is the capital city, major port, and leading commercial centre of Cuba. The city is one of the 15 Cuban provinces and the largest city in the country. Contemporary Havana can essentially be described as three cities in one: Old Havana, Vedado, and the newer suburban districts. Present day, the city is the center of the Cuban government, and various ministries and headquarters of businesses are based there.
