The Palazzo Pubblico is the town hall of the City of San Marino as well as its official Government Building. The building, where official State ceremonies take place, is the seat of the Republic's main institutional and administrative bodies: the Captains Regent, the Grand and General Council, the Council of XII, and the Congress of State.

The Palazzo Publico was built from 1884 to 1894, and restored in 1996.

Republic de San Marino is a country situated in the Apennine Mountains. It is a landlocked enclave, completely surrounded by Italy. Its size is just over 61 km2. Its capital is the City of San Marino.

The country is the third smallest in Europe, with only Vatican City and Monaco being smaller in size.

SAN MARINO REPUBLIC ~The first Tower-UNESCO~

Great postcard showing the third smallest country in Europe...Before starting collecting postcards I never heard of this place ^__^...Thanks again Luca!!

Nice stamps: From the serie Centenary of cinema The Leopard, Luchino Visconti
(Issued 14-09-1995)
and Christmas stamp "Mistletoe"
(Issued 08-11-1996)

Republic de San Marino is a country situated in the Apennine Mountains. It is a landlocked enclave, completely surrounded by Italy. Its size is just over 61 km2. Its capital is the City of San Marino.

The First Tower of San Marino, also called Guaita, is the oldest of the three towers dominating the city. Its 11th-century central dungeon, which used to shelter the first inhabitants of Mount Titano, is also the oldest fortified construction of Italy. Restored in 1930, the Tower is now opened to the public. Two surrounding walls protect the Tower and a pretty portal, decorated with a baroque-style reproduction of San Marino's coat of arms, gives access to it. From the top of the bell tower, enjoy the beautiful view on the whole region.

SAN MARINO REPUBLIC ~Three Towers~

Received again a wonderful card today, an amazing view of San Marino, also know as "The Land of Freedom”. Its my second card from this place...

The country is the third smallest in Europe, with only Vatican City and Monaco being smaller in size.

The towers are located on the three peaks of Mount Titano and are depicted on the coat of arms and flag of San Marino. The first tower, Guaita, which is the oldest of the three and was constructed in the 11th century to be used as a prison. The second tower is Cesta, is located on the highest peak of Mount Titano and was constructed in the 13th century. The tower is now home to a museum which was built in 1956, to honor Saint Marinus, the founder of the island. The third tower, Montale, is the smallest of the three towers, was constructed in the 14th century, is not open to the public and is privately owned.
