Medieval buildings and scenic scatter.

I've been progressing well with the Barons' War project and wanted to add to the terrain collection

The first piece is a 3D printed house ordered from the seller TCWminiatures3D on Etsy.

It's a lovely piece with bags of detail.

The interior is nicely detailed too.

The next piece is a market stall, also from TCWminiatures3D

I'd rate this one as "fair" it's massively over sized, that mug on the bar is about the size of a space marines torso!

Again, some nice, if large, interior detail.

Last up from TCWminiatures3D, I tagged a few accessories onto my order.

A rather nice fountain, I added some water effects.

I'm sure that the stair case will come in handy somewhere. The barrels were picked up at the FIASCO show last year, not sure of the trader.

I've already got quite a few Renedra pieces in the collection, but they do come out nicely, so I added some more. 

I do like to add vegetable patches to these builds, it makes them more lived in.

This is a wattle and daub outbuilding with wattle fences, the fence posts are made from satay skewers.

The last piece in this post is a vegetable patch using more Renedra wattle fencing. The gate is built from coffee stirrers.

Victoria stepped up to the mark when I said I'd like some model cabbages!

Grotty Hovel

It's been quite a while since I added any new 28mm Terrain, but this had been sitting in my backlog for about a year assembled and painted a dark chocolate brown.

The base of it is a pair of Warbases lean-to's glued back to back in a L-shape, slathered in caulk and stuck on a plywood base. The stone wall around the small exterior yard is built up from pebbles, while the roof is cut from cereal packet.

The cobbled area is an off-cut of a Wills sheet. A quick and dirty paint job and it is ready for our game later this week.

Star Wars: Legion - Dice tower

In my order from Panhandle3DPrinting I added a dice tower for our Star Wars: Legion games. Like the rest of the stuff we bought it was easy to clean up and was primed with basic flat grey primer.

I then gave it an all over coat of VMC Blue Grey Pale and painted the dark areas with VMC German Grey and gave the whole thing a sepia wash.

One that was dry I re-applied the base-coats and added a couple of highlights to each colour, then painted a few yellow lines on it and highlighted those.

The final step was at Victoria's recommendation to take a knackered old brush and stipple on areas of dirt, grime and damage. I liked that effect so much that I went back over the Desert Town House that I showed in my last post and did it for that too.

I think for the Star Wars feel of things they should always look a bit fucked up.

We used the dice tower in our last game, it obviously hates me and that did not go well with Victorias Imperials scoring a solid victory.

Star Wars: Legion - Terrain

We needed some more terrain for our Star Wars: Legion games so a search of Etsy revealed many sellers doing some great looking 3D printed stuff for the game. 

We dropped an order on Panhandle3DPrinting and a big box of stuff arrived in about two weeks. 

The first set I painted was the "Chem Tank Pack 2", set. This was my first go at 3D printed terrain and I think that more prep-work will be needed in the future, for instance on the top of the tanks where I can really see the print lines. 

It was all done from a base-coat of very dark grey and then some panels were picked out in other shades of grey and rust streaks added.

In the order I also got a "Desert Town House 'C'" from a grey basecoat I worked up the highlights on the walls with dry-brushing. The roof and doors were painted Panzer Grey and also highlighted up.

The exposed blocks around the bottom were painted Basalt Grey with a couple of lighter layers dry-brushed over that.

Victoria has completed the Imperial Specialists pack with the Medical droid being her latest figure painted.

The wood store - Phillippeville (7)

Mondays gift from Victoria was a wood store, this was stuck on a base (4" x 5") and a small fence added then the groundwork was textured with spackle/polyfiller then the whole thing coated in PVA and allowed to dry overnight.

This morning it was all given a primer coat of dark brown paint before painting the groundwork then drybrushing the shed and fence with an off white colour to represent lime washing and painting the roof to look like tar paper. 

This outbuilding will be a useful addition to the growing town.

A collection of miscellany from me today, I need to work more on my planning.

Before the challenge started I got built and primed in preparation a whole load of terrain and the last of that was painted today. Firstly, five six inch long sections of fencing that I made on tongue depressors that will come in handy for marking boundaries or denoting road edges, etc. I had ran out of the tongue depressors after this build but a trip to Michaels has furnished me with enough to build a load more of this stuff.

These were made with matchstick for the posts with split coffee stirrers for the planks. The gates are made from lolly sticks as per the instructions in the great Setting the Scene books.

At the same time as the mass terrain build I also built a couple of hills, the large one is about nine inches across and two inch deep and the smaller one is about a six inch diameter an one inch deep.

I bought a hot wire cutter last month so was determined to get some use out of it. The hills look a bit of an odd colour in these photos, but blend in quite well with my usual gaming terrain cloth.

I've not been buying figures for a few months now, but that has not stopped Victoria picking me up a few treats. Back in August we were in the UK and attended 'The Other Partizan' where Warbases furnished her with the ideal gifts for me.

The first one painted is the stag and hind from the Red Deer set, I can see though that at some stage in the process I managed to chip some paint off of his magnificent antlers, likely will get touched up before they see some use on the gaming table.

For an idea of size this pair are on a 40mm base.

She also picked up for me a splendid pair of Longhorn Cattle that will come in very useful in our games. I now have quite a lot of potentially stampeding livestock for our Sharp Practice games.

This pair are mounted on a 50mm base to give an idea of the size.
