36th Pennsylvania Volunteers

More Blue Bellies for the ACW collection, this time the 36th Pennsylvania Volunteer Regiment, made up of Crusader Miniatures picked up from North Star.

It's a fairly small range that is often overlooked, but it's giving some nice variety to my forces that were previously all Perry Miniatures.

They are a little thinner than the Perry figures but do mix well on the table, but, I'd not have them in the same units.

I saved a couple of bare footed figures from the Fighting 69th I added last time, this is probably a better shot of one of them. Don't fancy walking over that patch of rocks before him though!

The standards are from the Flags of War range and I've managed not to fog them this time.

When there is a trim, like on this pair I do like to cut a few notches out of it and leave the edge a little less tidy. The fringe is then repainted in bronze, then gold with some thin black lines added so it looks like a fringe rippling rather than a solid block.

69th New York, the Fighting 69th

It's the Union turn to get some attention, so a quick order to North Star and I've added a union of New York Irish to the collection.

All the figures are from the Fighting 69th. set from Crusader Miniatures and are lovely casts, although a bit thinner than the Perry Miniatures so look a bit more sparse on their bases, maybe I should have mounted these in fours rather than threes.

Several of the figures are supplied bare-footed and they give a bit of flavour.

The standards are from Flags of War and are included in the set, having looked at the photos, the green seems a little fogged by the varnish, so I'll likely give that another coat of brush-on to sort it out.

Some close ups.

Hope to get these chaps out on the table soon.

Gaslands: Dodge Van

Just a solitary Gaslands update this week, Victoria bought me this pair of containers from Etsy, made of laser-cut MDF and grey board for the detailing.

I've painted one in a rusty orange colour and one in a rusty red, but the difference between the two does not show up so well in these photos.

I've also added to the collection a Dodge van. All the windows were replaced with mesh and the roof is a sheet of corrugated iron.

A launcher was added from the Implements of Carnage One frame and secured, jury rigged fashion with a length of chain.

The paint job is meant to give the feeling of, "was once yellow but now as rough as &@$!"

Gaslands: The fast ones!

I've been  taking the power tools to some Hot Wheels again, this time with a quartet of fast looking cars that I can use.

Electric Silhouette

This first one was in a bag of spare cars that Mike B donated to me and I think is also currently available in the Hot Wheels advent calendar for 2021, although this much predates that paint job.

The driver is from the Corporate Team pack from North Star. I added minigun and rockets from the  Implements of Carnage One set, yes, I know only two build slots, maybe one is decorative.

I went for a simple black paint job with some orange decoration, I think this chap could fill into both Maxxine and Miyazaki if not a few others.

Astana Hotto

This one was picked up from B&M on a recent trip there and it screams Performance Car.

The only armament I added was a single machine-gun from IoC-1 that mounted under the lighting array, I did a simple Purple paint job allowing this to fit into any of the performance teams.

But, I'm thinking that if I combine this with Rigor Motor below and add some bikes it will make a very passable Beverly sponsored team.

Rigor Motor

Another find on the racks at B&M was this dragster mounted coffin thingy!

It had some super detail work already on the coffin, so, after painting it black and highlighting I picked out the skull again in a very thinned white highlight. Also, in the highlighting of the cockpit hood I did a subtle demon face that really does not show up so well in these picks, but I know it's there.

With the Astana Hotto above I think I've got he foundations of a Beverly sponsored team.

Gasser

Last but not least, probably my favourite build so far. The original Hot Wheels model is a perfect jump off point.

The two crew are from the Wasteland Warriors set from North Star, I quite like the guy hanging out of the window with his assault rifle.

I took the IoC-1 engine and chained a turbo charger onto the top of it then added a machine-gin from that set too. Additional armour was made from plasticard, but I think that maybe my rivets are much too large. A bumper and additional armour were made from I-beams to complete the build.

Gaslands: A trio of newcomers

While photographing the Routemaster for the earlier post I also took shots of the latest three vehicles that I added.

Honda Civic STI

Firstly a snot-green Civic for sentimental reasons.

This was armed with a single front firing machine-gun and the hood adorned with a supercharger intake, both from the Implements of Carnage set.

The crewmembers are from the Corporate Team set. I've been using the machine pistol as a Magnum in my recent game.

Why a snot-green Civic Coupe? Well this was the car I owned when we were in the US:

Impreza SI

I picked this up from B&M when I got the Civic, it's pretty much untouched apart from the machine gun barrel pushed out front.

I don't think the light blue-grey paint job came out that well. Of all the vehicles done so far I reckon this is my least favourite.

Unleashed

Final one of the trio is a large buggy-truck thing that Roger gave me. I think it's from the Xbox Unleashed set that is available.

I cropped off the existing machine gun that Neil reused in his build here, replacing it with a pintle mounted one from Implements of Carnage.

A huge IoC exhaust was also added to the build. The crew are from the Wasteland Warriors set also from North Star.

It's very big to use as a buggy so I think likely better suited as a truck than a car in the game so the three crew round it out nicely.

We are playing again on Thursday, I hope to get some use from these.
