Gunfighters and the start of an Old West town.

A much overdue update.

I've been meaning to get back into western gunfights for quite a while and have been eying up some games of What a Cowboy

When I was visiting the UK in May, at the Partizan Show I picked up quite a bit of stuff from Great Escape Games, including a pack each of Gunfighters and Gunfighters II.

They go together very well and although the faces don't suit my painting style you can churn them out quite quickly.

They come with a good mix of weapons and kit allowing a lot of variety.

Twenty gunfighters is likely more than enough for my needs, but I do already have some Brigade Games ones painted and still more in the backlog.

I was lucky enough to win a gift card from Northern Lights Terrain during the last Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge so I picked up a load of their lovely Old West terrain and have made a start.

Completed so far are all the boardwalk sections in the photos above plus three stores.

The signage and posters etc are available as a download from Sarissa Precision and look a lot better than anything I could free-hand.

There are more buildings and terrain in the backlog.

Just before we went on vacation I was able to get a game of What a Cowboy in with chum Seth. Great fun with more to follow.

Gaslands: More trackessories

Back from my city break with Victoria I've been working on some more trackessories that I ordered from Sarissa Precision

I picked up three packs of the traffic barriers, that I soon got assembled and painted in PVA before priming with a grey spray. I gave them a light coat of VMC Stone Grey and then added some arrows and chevrons in  white, yellow and red.

After a coat of AP Dark Tone I reapplied the base-coats, added some detailing and some tyre scuffs at the bottom.

I also painted up a set of the jump ramps for extra hazard in our games, we may even be brave enough to give them a try in a future race.

You can also see in all the pictures the new Gaslands mat that Geek Villain did for me, after the last game I had "mat envy" for Martins mat so contacted Mack who did one for me in an alternate colour scheme.

The Shack - Phillippeville (5)

The next piece of Phillipeville is the re-purposing of a rather horrible Sarissa Precision house from their Americana range that I bought many years ago when we were playing some Dead Mans Hand games.

This took rather a lot of prep-work to get it more like I wanted it. I'm not bothered about having access to the interior, so, the windows were filled in with cereal box to be painted as glazing and the roof stuck down permanently.

I added barge boards and planking to cover the bad corner joints, the stone effect chimney and footings were completely redone by gluing on small chips of stone then rendering it with Polyfilla, a gate and fence were added at the back to create a small yard area.

I'm much happier now with how it looks than the original kit.

This is part of my first entry in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge for this year, if you are not aware of the event I suggest you pop over there.
