BJÖRK - 6 MUSIC FESTIVE TAKEOVER 26.12.22 (320kbs-m4a/250mb/1hr50mins)

BBC Radio 6 Music broadcast: 26th December 2022

This Boxing Day, take a deep dive inside the musical mind of one of the most original artists alive today. Björk makes her 6 Music presenting debut with a meticulously curated selection of music to move you and make you move.

With 10 studio albums to her name so far – including this year's Fossora – Björk's creative process is informed by everything from nature and location to her vast musical influences, encompassing electronic, rap, punk, soul and classical.

In this landmark two-hour special, Björk digs into her exquisite record collection and shares the personal stories behind her far-reaching discoveries – from Sumatran folk to Brazilian Baile funk, and Icelandic choral music to Taarab sounds from Comoro.

Björk shares her most recent musical finds and long-term favourites, including the most-played track in her music library from the past 20 years. She takes us to the places that have been influential in curating her collection, including music box makers in Vermont, taxi journeys in Rio de Janeiro, and singing lessons with Danish-Icelandic soprano Engel Lund.

Björk also gives insights into how she made her own albums, and as a yuletide gift, she shares an exclusive uncut version of a track from her latest album Fossora featuring The Hamrahlid Choir of Iceland.

Spanning genres, environments and continents, this is a musical odyssey through the landscape of the solar system's most dynamic artist.
