Jakks Pacific Legend of Zelda Link with Master Sword & Shield

I've owned a Jakks Pacific Link figure in this scale, but this one had a little more detail and articulation, of note a toe-hinge. As the "fantasy" part of my collection has grown, I thought this figure might make a good background character. And at south of ten bucks, I didn't have much to lose.

The figure has pretty decent articulation, including double-hinged knees/elbows and toe hinges, but there's very limited waist movement and he can't look up or down that far. Still, for ten bucks- not bad.

Below, Link with Mattel Masterverse Prince Adam, Mattel Origins She-Ra, and NECA Dungeons and Dragons Warduke for size comparison. Link kinda fits in with a variety of figure scales due to his elven build. You'll probably see him again in future posts!

I'm uncertain what led me to this somewhat obscure new JAKKS Pacific Big Figs Series 18" Classic Wonder Woman, but I couldn't resist ordering one. The articulation on these is very limited, but she sure is beautiful! I loved the metallic paint and cape on this special limited edition Wonder Woman, a reissue of the 2017 Big Figs Wonder Woman. Jakks Pacific World of Nintendo Link

I missed the whole Nintendo experience, my only real experiences with video games left back in the arcades of the early eighties, so the Legend of Zelda is totally lost on me. Still, I always liked the Dungeons and Dragons aesthetic of Link, which reminded me of the LJN figures of my childhood. This 4.5" representation of Link represents Link in his red Goron Tunic, which really caught my eye on the pegs.

There isn't a great deal of articulation range, nor stability in this action figure, but Link is a barely passable value at eight dollars, due mostly to the great styling. He holds his sword well, which fits neatly into his sheath pegged into his back.

Apropos of nothing, Jakks Pacific World of Nintendo Link with DC Direct Superwoman...

Jakks Pacific World of Nintendo Link with SH Figuarts Sentai Redhawk...

Jakks Pacific World of Nintendo Link with Bandai Big Hero 6 FRED...

And finally, Jakks Pacific World of Nintendo Link with the Hasbro Hulk from my last post...
did you know these two actually get along quite well?

Jakks Pacific BIG FIG Series 19" Batman (Silver Age)

With so many outfits the Batman has donned in the last fifty years, including the numerous modern incarnations, the last thing I thought I'd see was a classic Silver Age handling of the character on toy shelves this year. Sometimes a new franchise on a character will see evergreen lines in classic deco however, so it makes sense with this 19" Jakks Pacific Batman in in the weeks before the forthcoming Batman v Superman motion picture debuting in March. Still, I was unaware of this BIG FIG Series arrival, and surprised to find Batman and a classic Flash at Walmart this morning. A quick internet search promised a classic Superman as well, which makes me wonder if we'll see Aquaman and Green Lantern. Check out my video:

31" Jakks Pacific Man of Steel

I had to whisk a friend away to the emergency room in the middle of the night Monday, and upon my return from work Tuesday night I found this HUGE Man of Steel action figure waiting for me with a note,  "Thank you for rescuing me this morning".  I'm certainly glad he summoned me, relieved he is now well, and was touched by his thoughtful expression of gratitude- I LOVE this giant toy! Check out my YouTube channel trailer featuring my new gift...   :D

I'd seen one of these 31" Jakks Pacific Man of Steel action figure from down the aisle at Wal-Mart three weeks ago, but hadn't got a close look until this guy arrived. There's a Dark Knight Batman and Red Power Ranger this size offered at the retail giant as well, all priced at $29.97, but the Man of Steel here is my personal favorite.

The Man of Steel's seven points of articulation include 360 degree swivel neck, arms, and wrists, and legs that swivel out from the body. He's reasonably proportioned and appears sturdy enough- I love his incised chest insignia and sculpted boot tops, buckle, and bracelets. The facial sculpt is nice, and the skin tone is natural, complimented with neatly painted hair & eyes, He looks reasonably like actor Henry Cavill, star of the highly anticipated summer blockbuster, Man of Steel. I grabbed a 6" Mattel Man of Steel last month, and am as stoked as any other red-blooded nerd about the forthcoming movie.

This action figure has about one pose due to his limited articulation, but has decent if simple paint apps, nice texture, and the wow factor of a thirty-one inch action figure. True, he was most certainly manufactured in the most economical fashion, and is overpriced like a lot of these over-sized movie toys, but he has a cloth cape and a decent sculpt. He's rad! While not everyone is crazy about this new movie version of Superman's suit, like Jim Lee's New 52 reworking of the DC Comics hero, it's essentially the same. It grew on me of course because of that- familiarity of a childhood favorite. An while it's impossible to go back to that first time, here's to hoping the movie will engage me as Christopher Reeve did as a boy in '78 and I'll believe a man can fly, even if only for a moment.  :)
