I used to star I made earlier to make a bauble decoration. I tried to sew the star on top to the round in the bottom, but I'm not 100% satisfied. Still loads of balls to cover if I want to....

Tatted star
I know it's Spring turning to Summer out there, but I am tatting for Christmas. I plan on covering Christmas balls with tatting. It's quite a challenge for me as I have difficulties adapting patterns (or create my own !) so that they fit the ball.
Here is the initial star that will go on top of a ball :

Tatted edging finished and sewn on the tshirt
Yesterday morning I was full of creative energy. Not only did I finished tatting the edging, but I also sewed it on the tshirt. I was pinning it into place to see if it was long enough, and one thing leading to another.... It was all done. But I ended up with very sore fingers.
Now I don't really know what to make. Things for Christmas? Another edging? Both?

Tatting on the edge
After a very long time not crafting at all, I felt the urge to do some tatting. Why tatting? It's portable, I have all the patterns, materials, etc....
We were approaching Easter at the time, and I thought it would be fun to make motifs to stick on the mini paper eggs I still have from ages ago.
So I tatted motifs. I will photograph them and post them here when I have the courage to do so. Then I came across a pattern for those mini baskets from the previous post. And I ended up making one for each in my family as Easter present.
In the meantime, I felt like I needed more edgings for my plain tshirts. I decided to start simple, with one shuttle, size 50 DMC thread, and Mary Konior's Curds and Whey pattern.
I posted this on the Just-Tatting facebook group and got a massive response. Several people even started tatting it as well ! It felt good to be back in the sharing crafting community....

Tatted blue phone pouch progress
Remember I tatted a little square motif, then started to make more and join them as I go?
I finally made 14 squares, and I hope that, folded in two, it will cover an iphone 6. Otherwise I will have to make an extra edging.
I still need to find a way to close the sides, with a row of rings, or a sort of rope ?
Now I wish I simply joind the squares before, just like I did for my first phone pouch ! Oh well, can't think of everything all the time...

An unexpected bargain
Yesterday morning I went to the local market, and they have a big haberdashery stand. On a first look, all they had was generic big balls of size 20 thread.
But talking to the sellers, I told them that I was looking for fine thread for tatting, and the husband came with a box of 10 DMC cordonnet special, size 30, and an extra bag of 19 balls of different sizes from 100 to 30. They sold all the 29 balls to me for 30 euros.
Do the math, it's just a bit more than 1 euro the ball. I searched the net, and one ball of those is usually sold for 7 to 9 euros. Not to mention that you can't find them in shops. You can wonder how DMC threads are so hard to find in France, their country of origin, and so expensive, compaired to other countries.
Anyway, I now have loads of thread for my tatting. And I made a little scale thingy, the same flower tatted with the different thread sizes. I thought it could be handy at some point.

3d tatted star
At first I wasn't going to buy the "crochet creation" magazine about tatting (a translated Japanese tatting book sold as a crochet magazine, go figure) but then I wanted to make the 3d thingies, so...
Here is the 3d star made of 8 flowers. It's quite big, I used a size 10 thread, but I think it's the perfect size for the Christmas tree !

petit beurre tatted motifs
At the beginning, I wanted to make the amulet bag in my japanese tatting book. But one square is 4cm by 4 cm, not big enough for a bag or even a pouch ! So I decided to make several. I don't know how big it will end up.
I am making it in two colours because I started loading one shuttle with blue cotton size 20, but all the other shuttles were full, so I took a size 20 white thread.
I think the effect is nice, even if the squares make me think of"petit beurre" biscuits !

Back from the lost things
I've been crafting for so long I have loads of bits and bobs in my crafty boxes.
And sometimes it's even finished stuff like this tatted rosette. I have no idea when I made it, but it was years ago.
I washed and blocked it and voilà ! Ready to use ! It's so small it can only go in the Christmas tree, but well...

Tatted motifs now in a square
Last time I showed you 2 of those motifs joined together, and now here are 2 more, and I have a square ! I don't know how many I will make like that....
I like how the cormer rings linked in the middle create yet another motif...

This little fairy goes to the market....
and brings her tatted bag with her ! I made this cute little tatted bag and gave it to my mom for Mother's day on Sunday. She has a collection of miniatures, and the bag fitted right in. I sew a little flower I had made some time ago.
I wonder who would recognise the doll. When I was a little girl, they got a collection of "Flower fairies", dainty dolls with cute dresses and wings, about half the size of a Barbie. I got my first one in York, UK, in this tiny toy shop that looked like a fairytale. Then I sold them in Belgium and I got a few more.
Of course I kept them as decoration, along with my Strawberry Shortcake dolls....
Anyway, cute bag, will make some more I guess ;)

Tatted oval doily progress
Less posts these days, but this is quite a big project (aka time and thread consuming, not really in size). 4 days to make this trefoil round. And now I started the last one...

Doily back from UFO town
Ages ago, I started this oval doily in size 30 thread. It was so long ago that I had cut the ongoing thread to get the shuttles back and use them on other projects, and this was way before the long tatting hiatus.
So I had to tat about 1/3 of the last round, and only at the end did I notice that I had worked the wrong way. But honnestly, the knots are so fine that you don't really see the difference.
I still have 2 rounds of trefoils to do...

Space dyed classic doily finished
I've been silent for a little while, but it was because I didn't want to post pictures daily with just a few more rosettes each time. So here is the final picture, after blocking. It was a nice doily to tat, the only thing was the 16 rosettes around. The nightmare was all those threads to tie and hide !
Now I'm tatting some more square motifs...

Square tatted motif
Tatting is a great craft to do on the go. All you need is shuttles in a small box, and scissors. But what happens when you tat a doily, and it doesn't fit the box anymore ?
Time for a little motif ! This 8ne is still from the New Tatting book. I will have to make several joined together to make a doily or something.
Doily update : 5 more rosettes to go...

Doily update
Ah, glorious times, I post about once a day... from the lovely galaxy tab I use for almost everything. No, it doesn't cook toasts yet... I'm also enjoying Instagram more and more. It's so much fun !
Anyway, this is a picture update, I'm on the last round of the doily, and it's basically many mini motifs joined to the centre. Many opportunities to do it wrong.... so I have to pay special attention. It also looks like it's flattening by itself somehow...
