I'm still working on the granny square afghan, but I'm thinking about free hand embroidery.

It's the first craft I learned. I was stitching handkerchieves when I was 4 or 5. Of course I have no recording of that, but the pictures are showing things I made in 2005. I did a lot of cross stitching, knitting and crochet since then, but since I saw Teresa Lim's travel stitching, I feel like doing embroidery again.

But one crucial question remains : what to do with a piece of fabric with embroidery on it?

I don't want to make framed pictures, even in hoops. My walls are filled with cross stitch already. So it's time for a little research of what's out there on the web, and especially on Pinterest. The initial idea is that I would like to transfer my drawings onto fabric, but then what to do with it?

So far I have :

- stitching on felt and make a decoration out of it
- stitching on towels
- mini doll/cushion type thing.

So please give me other ideas !!!!

Coming soon: beaded animals

When you stitch a big project, frog a bit of it, don't stitch much anyway, there isn't much to show or tell. Remember how enthousiastic I was about stitching at the beginning of the month, with so many projects to make, etc.... That was until I looked at the file where I archived the stitched pieces I didn't hang on the walls or gave away. So many stitched fabrics just put in an album... for nothing ! And if you count the 288 something stitched things I made in my life, you understand my discouragement : why bother?

The mini Pluto charm is always on my phone, so it's no problem for it, but a big project that can only be framed (I already havetoo many cushions)... I don't think I need to stitch it as fast as a sewing machine ;)

I wonder what are you thoughs about it, especially the long time stitchers out there with walls filled with framed stitches....

Needless to say I spent more time reading and playing video games (Farmville 2 Country Escape, Hungry cat picross on Android, and Fantasy Life on 3DS)

Then yesterday I came across this great book about making beaded animals. If you follow my blog you know I made quite a few already. I had the first book a few years ago, and this one is even better !!!
I hesitated between buying it straight away or buying on Amazon, and ended up buying in the shop at the editor's price of 10 euros. After all, it couldn't be much cheaper on the web, and I didn't want to wait for the delivery. I had to check afterwards, and I realised how lucky my move was : only second hand available at 23 euros minimum !

Now I have to start beading....

A trip to ID Creatives Lille 2013

Yesterday I went to the local craft expo with both moms (mine and DBF's). It's not a big affair, we saw everythingin 2 hours, but it was fun to see new (and old) crafty things.But I found the new Clover amour crochets and I treated myself to a 5mm crochet lite, how flashy!!!

As you can see, I already started a crocheted scarf....

Hier j'ai été à l'expo de craft ID Creatives avec les deux mamans (la mienne et cette de DBF). C'est vraiment pas grand, on a fait le tour en 2 heures, mais c'est amusant de voir toutes les nouveautés et différentes  techniques. J'ai trouvé des crochets Clover Amour, les tout nouveaux, et aussi un crochet qui s'illumine (pour travailler dansle noir?) qui est déà utilisé pour faire une écharpe rose....

Emerging from winter

It's been 2 months since the last post. 2 months  !!!! Why? Well... I've been knitting cardigans, crocheting little things, and cooking sweets. But I didn't feel like taking pictures, writing uninspired blab to post on the blog. The whole operation takes time, and I didn't want to bother. Add to this the awful weather we are having, virtually no Spring yet !!!

Ok, I'm enjoying the fact that I can still wear the knitting stuff I made, but still.... what about being able to knit on a bench in the park? Not yet....

Ca fait deux mois que je n'ai pas mis à jour.... Mais entre la déprime du temps pourri (où est le printemps????) et mon activité hors ordi (tricoter des gilets, crocheter des petits trucs, la patisserie...) je n'étais pas inspirée pour poster sur le blog, surtout que ça prend du temps.

Le seul avantage du temps pourri est qu'on peut encore porter ce qu'on a tricoté pour l'hiver, mais on aimerait bien aller tricoter sur un banc du park !!!

Smocking needles and hooks

Long time no see... but it's mostly because I knit and crochet, but then I don't have much to say.

The big thing this week is that I finally took the challenge of sock knitting. Toe up. Dpns, then circulars with the magic loop. I just love this technique ! I might knit more socks soon...

But for the moment I'm knitting a cardigan for DBF, and he's quite a big man...

En ce moment je tricote... un gilet pour DBF, et c'est un grand costaud, et j'ai relevé le challenge de tricoter des chaussettes à partir des orteils, sur doubles aiguilles puis sur des circulaires, et j'adore ça ! Du coup je pense en faire plus...

Slowly emerging

It's been a while.... I had my not too techie granny wondering why I didn't update my blog anymore !!! Hum.... I will blame this on the January depression/hibernation I have every year. I don't worry about it anymore. There is such an escalading stress/excitement to Christmas (preparing gifts, stuff for the Christmas markets, cooking, visiting, etc...) that comes January, there's a slump.Any event or holiday seems so far away that I don't know what to make !

And I have to confess that this year, I just stopped crafting during the holidays. The Christmas markets were a bit of a downer. I didn't sell as much I as I had hoped, but that seemed to be a general trend to all people exposing this year. People expect to buy things for one or two euros. I make small things, but they take hours, days to make, so I'm not ready to give them away !!!

On the news they are talking about how much people spend less and less, but the number one gift this year is... ipads and other tablets. For kids, adults... everybody. And I won't blame them, because I got a new 7" galaxy tab, and DBF got a 10" tablet too. But the point is people seem to have bought just that for Christmas. And stuff to decorate the Christmas table maybe.

Yes, it looks like people bought table decorations, and mostly stuff that I would be caught dead before I put anything like that in my home. So it made me thinking about my tastes versus everybody else. Result: crafting freeze. Why bother making stuff that people don't want ?

So I try "no crafting" for a while. I had my new tablet, books to read... but after 3 weeks, I felt completely crazy. I tried stitching for a while, then I wanted to make granny squares, and I dug out the afghan I started in august 2011. I already had loads of square made up, so I mostly connected them so far, and it's now 7 x 7 squares. It's far from being big enough, but I ran out of the cream colour I was using ! So I will have to go for another colour, DBF calls for grey, so I'll try that....

This was a long post, so now... picture !!!

"Mais tu ne mets plus ton blog à jour !!!" Voilà ce que m'a dit ma grand mère l'autre jour. Et elle a raison. Ca fait un bail. Mais bon, c'est la dépression/hibernation de janvier, j'ai le coup tous les ans. Après la montée en puissance jusque Noël, tous les autres évènements semblent si lointains, que je ne sais plus quoi faire.

En plus les marchés de Noel ont été un peu décevants : les gens semblent avoir tous acheté des tablettes numériques (et on ne fait pas exception, j'ai une galaxy tab 7 pouces, et DBF une tablette 10 pouces), et  du coup les marchés de Noel ont moins marché. Sauf pour des trucs style déco de table que je n'achèterais pas moi -même, du coup je me demande aussi pourquoi je passerais des heurres, des jours à faire des objets que les gens s'attendent à payer un ou deux euros. Mais que devrais-je donc fabriquer alors?

D'où un blocage de créativité. Du coup j'ai passé 3 semaines au moins sans rien créer. Mais à la fin, ça me rendait folle, et j'ai repris un vieux projet, un plaid en granny squares commencé en aout 2011. Ca au moins c'est pour nous, demandé par DBF...

J'ai surtout assemblé des carrés que j'avais déjà, arrivant à 7 x 7 carrés, mais j'arrive au bout de la couleur crème !!! Je pense changer, pour du dgris à la demande de DBF. Voilà !

An odd knitting toolbox

Not so long ago, DBF and friends and I went to the "Micromania gameshow". Micromania is a videogames chain of shops like Gamestop, GameStation or Game, but only in France, and they organise events in different towns where we all sit in a movie theater and the show us videogame plays and trailers. And this year we each found a goodie bag with Tshirts and.... a PS Vita Sega case. DBF has a Vita, but I don't, so obviously such a case doesn't seem very useful.

But then I was knitting the bunny, and I started to put the different pieces in it, and my scissors, and needles and stuff, and.... the box for hightech gizmo became a very handy knitting box ! DBF can't believe it !!!

Il y a pas longtemps, avec DBF et des amis on a été au Micromania gameshow (une salle de cinéma remplie de fans de jeux videos qui regardent des gameplays et des bandces annonces de nouveaux jeux,  présentés par Marcus). Et sur ns sièges il y avait des sacs de goodies, des tshirts et... un étui de protection Sega pour PS Vita.

Bon, je n'ai pas la console, contrairement à DBF, mais c'est un bel étui, et comme je tricotais le lapin , j'ai commencé à mettre les morceaux, les ciseaux, etc... dans l'étui.

Et donc finalement, au grand dam de DBF, l'étui hightech est devenu un rangement pratique pour le tricot !!!

Picasa, my best friend

These past months, I didn't just knit on my vest. I made a few little things.... and it's easy to get them lost in the craft basket. But then there is this lovely thing called "inventory". After all, I have to prepare for 3 Christmas fairs this year. So this means making a list of what I have, and the prices... and pictures.

This is where Picasa is a very handy tool. I can upload pictures and keep them in chronological order, with notes, in just one click. So I invite you to check out the album with the 2012 creations, and of course the little things I made.

And because we all love pictures, here is the tawashi rose I made for my grandma's birthday. I made a few more in different colours, well, the petal part at least. I think it's so lovely we don't dare to use it to wash the dishes, but still... ;)

Ces derniers mois je n'ai pas fait que du tricot sur ma veste, j'ai aussi fait des petits trucs, en vue des marchés de Noël de cette année.

Mais c'est tellement facile de les perdre à droite à gauche qu'un inventaire est nécessaire, et donc photos.... mises sur mon album Picasa. C'est très pratique, toutes les photos des créations par ordre chronologique, sans mes blablas. Donc je vous invite à aller voir l'album de Craft 2012 pour tout voir.

Mais comme on aime les photos, voici la rose que j'ai faite pour l'anniversaire de ma grand mère. C'est un tawashi, mais on n'oserait pas faire la vaisselle avec ! ;)

Back from the dead?

Hum, can we say this blog has been heavily neglacted? I could say it's work and stuff, but I think I would blame laziness and the lack of interest for blogging. Not to mention that I feel that the experiment "one language, one blog" ment double work, so I think I will come back to just this blog here.

Also, the world has changed. Now people are on Facebook, Twitter, and blogs tend to be a thing of the past. Which is a shame, as the blog format is way nicer to read, especially for crafting blogs where we like to see pictures of the projects, and don't need to see all the other fancy stuff....

And just yesterday, I discovered Pinterest. Now that is an interesting tool. Watching pictures, sharing the ones we like.... I feel I will use it as a sort of project ideas board. If you want to follow me on Pinterest, click the button on the right

But once again, it's gonna be time consuming. Just like... facebook games. The new baby is Chefville. And when you play.... you don't craft. But...

If you remember, last time I showed you my knitted vest at the beginning. Just then we entered a heatwave, hard to knit something big while sweating ;)

I'm glad (and proud) to say the body and arms part is done, and I'm now knitting the hood ! This is a near miracle, as I tend to give up in the middle of such big projects....

Ce blog a été très négligé, et on ne peut pas dire que le concept de "un blog par langue" soit un succès, vu que cela demande bien plus de boulot. Donc retour de la langue française ici.

En plus, le monde a changé, et il semblerait que les blogs doivent donner la place à Facebook et Tweeter. Pourtant, pour les bricoleurs comme nous, le format blog est toujours intéressant, montrant les choses de manière claire et chronologique.

Hier j'ai découvert Pinterest, et par contre, je trouve que je vais pouvoir y passer des heures rien qu'à collectionner les idées. Si vous voulez me suivre sur Pinterest, utilisez le bouton sur la droite.

Au niveau création, j'ai tricoté ma veste, et je suis fière d'être presque au bout, alors que ce n'était pas gagné dans mon cas, car j'ai tendance à abandonner les gros projets en cours de route.

ca fait beaucoup de blabla, donc je vais m'arrêter là, mais je parlerai bientôt...

Hum... what am I doing now?

These days I don't craft much.... Well, I don't craft at all to be honnest. So of course, no crafting, no post. I turned into a total techno geek, playing video games. "My Shops" on Facebook (and I'm sure you know how addictive those social games can be), and other games on my consoles and on the PC. Plus surfing on the web, and tweaking my PDA, and reading "Game of Thrones", and I don't have time to make stuff.

In this spirit of mind, I created a new blog, Gaming San, in order to talk about my life as a gamer and technology addicted woman. I'm going to write it in French, but I installed a translator, so it should be ok ;)

Crafting wise, do not fear, if you read this blog for a long time, you know I always come back to craft or the other. Actually, at the moment I feel like creating tatting motifs, and I use my PDA for that. More later....

On ne peut pas dire que je bricole beaucoup ces temps-ci. En fait, je ne fais rien du tout. Je joue à "My Shops" sur Facebook (et on sait combien ces jeux peuvent être addictifs), et sur les consoles, en plus de surfer sur le web et de bidouiller mon PDA. Et lire "Le trône de fer". Bref, j'ai pas vraiment le temps pour le reste.


Et donc dans cet état d'esprit, j'ai créé un nouveau blog, "Gaming San", où je raconte ma vie de techno-geek.


Pourtant, il ne faut pas paniquer, ceux qui lisent ce blog depuis longtemps savent que les crafts ne sont jamais loin. D'ailleurs, en ce moment même je crée des motifs de frivolité, à l'aide de mon PDA, enfin, j'en parlerai plus tard....

Bits of Christmas....

I can't believe I don't have a picture of the glove mits I made for my Mom for Christmas !!! I spent time and worry on them, because I have small hands (one 50g skein of finger weight yarn is enough for both hands in my case), and she has bigger hands. So I had DBF trying the mits on from time to time so I could be convinced I wasn't knitting something for a giant !!!!

The fun thing is that I gave her knitted gloves, and she gave me knitted socks !!! I've always loved wearing her socks when my feet are very cold, especially in bed.

Now I'm quite busy with my Christmas gifts. Not only the pocket PC, but also "Art Academy" for DS (the results are stunning), and novels about knitters, "The Friday knitting club" and the 2 following books. What's fun is that it's the story og a knitting shop owner in New York, a shop like the ones I visited in August when we were in New York ! So it's like going back there again....

Craftwise, I's still working on my black fingerless gloves from hell, they are hard to make, but they will look victorian stunning ! I just need the courage to continue....

Evidemment, je n'ai pas de photo des mitaines moufles que j'ai faites pour le Noel de ma maman. Classique. Pourtant, j'ai eu du mal psychologiquement à les faire, car j'ai des petites mains (une pelote de 50g de laine fine suffit pour les deux mains) et elle a des mains plus grandes. Donc je demandais régulièrement à DBF de les essayer en cours de tricotage !

Mais le plus drôle est que si j'ai offert des mitaines à ma maman, elle m'a offert des chaussettes, car j'aime ses chausettes pour quand il fait froid, surtout au lit !

En ce moment, je suis for occupée avec mes cadeaux, le pocket pc, "Art Academy" sur DS 'les résultats sont surprenants) et des romans en anglais, le "Friday knitting club". Le plus marrant est que cela se passe dans une boutique de tricot newyorkaise, similaire à celles que j'ai visitées en Août, et donc c'est un vrai retour en vacances.

Niveau craft, je tricote toujours les mitaines noires de l'enfer, très difficiles, mais qui seront superbes à la fin, dans un style victorien gothique. J'ai juste besoin de courage pour continuer...

A lot of text for a change...

It's really starting to feel like winter in here : it's only 5pm and it's getting dark and grey, with a bit of cold mist. Depressing. But soon, we will set up the Christmas decorations. I have to wait until DBF staches away his Halloween toys and brings up the tree. We still have time.

But I know Northern French and English people will agree it's a weather to stay inside with warm clothes and a cuppa. And knitting.

Isn't it odd that only a year or so ago, I wouldn't have been caught dead knitting? All but knitting ! You can check on earlier posts.... So what happened?

I think the trigger was when DBF's mother insisted that knitting wasn't about sweaters. If you look at French knitting magazines, you wouldn't guess. But it sounded like a challenge. A new craft to explore. And the web is full of critters, washcloths, socks, mittens, etc... free patterns. And explanations.

And I discovered English knitting magazines. They boomed after I left the country 2 years ago somehow. Same chatty atmosphere than stitching magazines, and original patterns. Tea cosies, snowmen, pouches, etc... I so love them ! Does that mean knitting is the craft of the day? I never see anybody knitting in public (or crafting for that matter).

So now I'm totally hooked. I don't want to do anything else but knitting. But those who follow me since a while know that it doesn't mean that I will not go back to do some other crafts: I have passion phases....

To finish, here is a little anecdote : DBF is a big fan of shooting video games, and he loves the fake guns that go with them. On Saturday he bought a sniper type gun for Wii, but there's a flaw in the design, and the B trigger didn't work because of a little gap in the gun. He exchanged it, it didn't change a thing. What to do? Double sided padded tape. And who thought of it? The crafty lady knitting next to the very depressed man. And he was so happy....

L'hiver arrive petit à petit : à 5h du soir, il fait presque noir, gris avec de la brume froide. Un temps bien connu des Nordistes et des Anglais. Bref, restons à l'intérieur au chaud avec un tasse bien chaude. C'est bientôt le moment de changer les décorations d'Halloween pour celles de Noel, mais j'attends que DBF range ses jouets d'Halloween et sorte le sapin. mais on a encore le temps.

N'est-ce pas étrange qu'il y a deux ans à peine, je refusais de toucher à des aiguilles de tricot (les posts de l'époque en témoignent), et maintenant je ne fais plus que ça? Que c'est-il passé? Je crois que le point de départ c'est la mère de DBF, grande tricoteuse, qui a insisté sur le fait qu'on pouvait tricoter autre chose que des pulls. On ne dirait pas en regardant les magazines français de tricot. Et j'ai pris ça comme un challenge. Après tout, le web regorge de modèles gratuits de petits personnages, moufles, chaussettes, etc....

Et aussi, j'ai découvert les magazines anglais, plein d'idées originales, comme les tea cosy et autres petits modèles. Et il y a autant de bavardages quedans les magazines de broderie. Ces magazines n'existaient pas quand j'habitais en Angleterre il y a deux ans, est-ce que cela veut dire que le tricot est de nouveau à la mode? En tout cas, je ne vois personne tricoter en public (ni bricoler autre chose d'ailleurs).

En tout cas, je suis accrochée, et en ce moment je ne veux plus faire que du tricot. Mais cela ne veut pas dire que je ne vais plus rien faire d'autre, les habitués de ce blog savent que je fais mes crafts par phase. En il y a donc un certain suspens pour deviner quel sera la prochaine phase !

Pour finir, une anecdote. DBF adore les jeux videos de tir, et les fusils jouets qui vont avec. Et samedi, il a acheté une sorte de sniper pour Wii. malheureusement, il y a un défaut de conception, et un peu de jeu empèche l'utilisation de la gachette B. Il a changé le gun, rien à faire. Mais voilà que la fille qui tricotait à coté de lui à ce moment-là trouve la solution : du scotch mousse double face. Et voilà le fusil qui marche, et DBF super content !

KC blog week day 1 - Starting out

How and when did you begin knitting/crocheting? was it a skill passed down through generations of your family, or something you learned from Knitting For Dummies? What or who made you pick up the needles/hook for the first time? Was it the celebrity knitting ‘trend’ or your great aunt Hilda?

When I was a little girl, I remember my mom was always knitting or crocheting. And when my brother was about to be born, my grandmas also started knitting baby clothes, that would survive as doll clothes later on. But I first hold knitting needles at school, when we were supposed to make a square or something. I remember practising with my grandma, and putting the knitting in a calendar tea towel afterwards... It was very hard work, and all that to see the teacher detroy my little square because « I wasn't finished in time » !!!

So that was it for me. Anyway, my mom was the knitter in the family. And the 80ies were there, so knitted sweaters weren't really in fashion or anything. I did make a jumper for a Strawberry shortcake doll once and yes, see how tiny that is, but that was it.

Crochet I only started by looking in books, and it was doilies and such. Only a few years ago did I dare try amigurumis and crocheting yarns in round. I was so scared of it, and it's so easy when you think of it !!!

I got back into knitting only recently, once again with books, sort of a challenge to DBF's mom

(who is a big knitter too) who told me I should get into knitting, and no, it's not just sweaters. So I knit, but not sweaters...

Comment et quand as-tu commencé le tricot / crochet ? Est-ce un savoir-faire qui passe de génération en génération dans ta famille ou quelque chose que tu as appris dans Le tricot pour les Nuls ?

Quoi ou qui t'as fait prendre les aiguilles / le crochet pour la première fois ? Etait-ce le fait que le tricot revienne à la mode ou ta grande tante Hilda ?

Quand j'étais petite, ma maman tricotait et crochetait tout le temps. Et quand mon frère était sur le point de naître, mes grand mères s'y sont mises aussi, pour faire des vêtements de bébé, qui ont ensuite été recyclés en vêtements de poupée.

La première fois que j'ai tenu des aiguilles à tricoter, c'était un projet à l'école, un simple carré. Je me souviens d'y avoir travaillé avec ma grand mère de longues heures, et aussi de la serviette calendrier dans laquelle on mettait l'ouvrage après. Et tout ça pour que la maîtresse détricote mes efforts en 1min devant moi, sous prétexte que je n'avais pas fini à temps !!!

Donc pour moi le tricot a été fini, surtout que ma mère tricotait quand on avait besoin. J'ai quand même fait un pull pour une charlotte aux fraises une fois ( et oui, vous voyez comme c'est petit !!!!), mais c'est tout.

J'ai appris le crochet dans les livres, et je faisais uniquement des napperons, jusqu'à récemment où j'ai découvert les amigurumis et que j'ai osé crocheter en rond. C'est si facile,e t dire que j'avais si peur de me lancer !!!

Et j'ai repris le tricot récemment car tout le monde tricote, et la maman de DBF m'a lancé une sorte de challenge en disant »on ne fait pas que des pulls en tricot », donc je tricote, mais pas de pulls !!!!

Mini knitted bag - with embroidery !

I found this pattern in the book "Petits tricots faciles", it's just the right size for my camera. And I decided to stitch the little flowers, and I think the result is great !

Now I will start a bigger project, a bit experimental : a pocket for my new HP mini computer. After a long time of turning around wondering which netbook to buy, I elected that one yesterday evening. It fits perfectly in my messenger bag, but has no "wallet". So it's time to knit one.

We'll see how it goes...

Voici une petite pochette pour mon appareil photo, qui est un modèle tiré du livre "Petits tricots faciles". Et j'ai évidemment ajouté les fleurs brodées, j'aime bien le résultat final !

Maintenant je vais m'attaquer à un projet plus grand et expérimental : une pochette pour mon nouveau HPmini ordinateur. He oui, après avoir hésité longtemps, je me suis enfin décidée. Mais comme il n'est pas vendu avec une pochette, à mes aiguilles !!!

On verra comment ça va....

Knitting? really?

I'm fed up of people telling me I'm knitting when I'm crocheting. It's just not the same !!! And DBF's mom is an avid knitter, and somehow she really thinks I should knit too, telling me it's not just sweaters (btw, any non clothes ideas for knitting are welcome over here...).

I also think she's curious to see what I would come up with if I was knitting, as I always show her cute little things she enjoys.

So here is a little bunny. The tutorial is here, and if you knit, I can only recommend it, it's such a nifty design. A bit tricky for a beginner, so I was so proud I managed to get something in the end ! Because the body is knitted so that it forms a pocket inside out, in one go, and the ears have decreases. But it's quick to make.

Easter was nice, and now it's the holidays. On Tuesday we went on a one day trip to Canterbury by ferry, and the weather was sunny and nice. I bought tons of books, and amongst them 2 amigurumis books, and one for knitting. Of course I got all the stitching magazines, and I discovered "Knit today", a cool modern magazine compared to the ones here in France.

Walking down the shopping streets of Canterbury reminded me of those Spring days when I was living in England. People relaxed, enjoying the first rays of sun, kids on holidays with bunny paper hats...

Needless to say we will repreating the experience soon enough !

J'en ai un peu marre des gens qui sme disent que je tricote quand je crochète. C'est vraiment pas la même chose !!!! Et la maman de DBF est une grande tricoteuse qui essaye toujours de me "pervertir", mais je pense aussi qu'elle aimerait voir ce que je vais sortir de mes aiguilles à tricoter, vu qu'elle est admirative de mes créations.

Donc voici un petit lapin tricoté. Si vous tricotez, précipitez-vous sur le tuto, ça en vaut la peine ! C'est d'un niveau moyen je dirais, et j'étais toute fière d'avoir réussi la pochette qui se tricote les deux faces d'un coup, et les diminutions des oreilles !!!!

Paques fut bien, et maintenant c'est les vacances. Nous avons été un jour à Canterbury (les joies d'habiter dans le Nord). Il faisait super beau, et les gens se baladaient dans les premiers rayons du soleil. J'ai acheté plein de livres, dont 2 d'amigurumis et 1 de tricot. Et aussi les magazines de stitch, et j'ai découvert "Knit today", qui est un magazine moderne de tricot, assez loin de ce qu'on voit en France.

Autant dire qu'on recommencera la balade dans pas si longtemps !!!

Can you believe this? I started this LHN project during my blog slump, and so I have no previous post or picture about its progress !!! And now I'm nearly starting the last bit: the border !!!

I have to admit I feared all the text and now it's done, I think it was piece of cake ;)

I did loads of crochet lately, and on Monday I might have been over the top, so now my right wrist and tumb hurt. And you know what that means... yeah, no more crochet, no more crafting, etc... Well, I stitch with my left hand, so it's ok, and I taught myself to crochet with the left as well. Not to mention that I have to use the computer mouse with my left hand as well... I'm so glad I'm ambidextrous !!!

Crochetting with the left hand isn't much different than crochetting with the right, but I'm slow, I have to practice, for the moment it's ok for yarn and big stuff that don't ask for much tension, but I hope to get better soon ;)

Anyway, I want to finish this project soon, it's been a wip long enough !!!

J'ai eu beau chercher, je n'ai pas trouvé de photos et de posts sur ce projet dans mes archives. Et maintenant il est plus proche de la fin que du début !!! J'ai du travailler dessus pendant la période où je ne bloggais plus, en octobre décembre... Oh, ben le voilà de toute façon !!!

Je craignais tout le texte, et j'ai failli ne pas le faire, et puis j'ai pris mon courage à deux mains, et finalement... ce n'était pas si difficile. Il ne reste quasiment plus que la bordure.

J'ai fait beaucoup de crochet ces derniers temps, peut être un peu trop, vu que je me retrouve avec une douleur au poignet et au pouce droit. Et on sait ce que cela signifie : au moins du repos !!! Mais c'est embêtant, car on ne peut plus rien faire, ou alors...

Profitant que je suis ambidextre, la souris de l'ordi est passée à gauche. L'aiguille est déjà dans la main gauche, serait-ce un message pour que je me remette à la broderie? Bon, j'apprends à crocheter avec la main gauche. Je suis encore un peu mal habile, mais pour les granny squares, ça passe.

Toujours est-il que j'aimerais finir ce projet rapidement, il a tellement trainé déjà !!!

A day in Creativa Bruxelles

Yesterday I went to the Creativa Expo in Brussels. It's a show about crafts, mostly stitching, scrapbooking, beads and patchwork. We arrived early, so we were amongst the lucky ones who got the lovely Creativa shopping bag. On the pictures, the room seems empty, but it only shows how early we were, as the place got quickly full of people.

I was able to see Nimue, Craft Corner and Madame la fée in the flesh, many people were showing their crafts, so the atmosphere was relaxed. And, believe it or not, all I got was "Traveling stitcher" from LHN with the special threads !!!

Hier j'ai été à Creativa à Bruxelles. C'est une expo de crafts, surtout de la broderie, du patchwork, des perles et du scrapbooking. On est arrivées très tôt, du coup on a eu le fameux sac de courses "Creativa. Et d'ailleurs, sur les photos ça a l'ai un peu vide, car on était vraiment tôt !!!

J'ai pu voir Nimue, Craft Corner, Madame la fée, et plein de gens qui faisaient des démos, du coup l'atmosphère était sympa et détendue. Et croyez-le ou pas, je ne suis ressortie qu'avec "Traveling Stitcher" de LHN et ses fils !!!

Too many things on the go !

I realised that with all the CALs, ideas, etc... I'm loosing focus, and I have too many wips !

- CAL granny square bag : you can see some of the squares here. 10 done, 38 to go. Or less, depending on the size I want.

- CAL Amigurumi chicken in an egg. I need 10 birds, I only have 5 not even finished.

- CAL flower doily : need 8 more flowers.

- CAL demoiselles : I'm actually on time on that one

- Easter yellow doily : will it be finished for Easter?

Not to mention my two lovely stitchings, and another mini one I started. I think I will concentrate on all that and not start anything... Hum, I wonder if I will keep that idea true, when I'm going to Creativa Bruxelles tomorrow with Mom...

Hier j'ai réalisé qu'avec tous les CAls et autres idées, j'ai perdu la notion de focus, et je me retrouve avec plein de choses en cours:

- CAL sac en granny squares : 10 de faits, 38 encore à faire, ou moins selon la taille que ça va donner.

- CAL Amigurumi poussins dans l'oeuf. Il me faut 10 poussins, et je n'en ai que 5, même pas finis.

- CAL napperon fleurs : il me faut encore 8 fleurs.

- CAL demoiselles : en fait je suis à l'heure pour celui-là.

- Napperon jaune de Paques : sera-t-il fini pour Paques?

Sans compter la broderie, avec mes deux points de croix et un petit nouveau. Je vais essayer de me concentrer sur ces projets, quoique comme je vais demain à Creativa Bruxelles, tout peut arriver !!!

After the tiger, the panda

Here is a little cheeky panda to keep company to my little tiger. It took a while to make , because at the moment I crochet a fine doily, and a flower scarf for a CAL. So no pictures of that.

I also experiment making dolls with various media, and as I said before, my method of creation is a bit long. I start something, then stop, sometimes for days at a time, until the next idea comes up. But it's nearly done ;)

Yesterday was my sister in law's birthday, and she loved her little Calimero amigurumi. She used it straight away as a key ring (I had attached the proper key ring thing, of course !)

Voici un petit panda coquin, qui va tenir companie à mon petit tigre. Mes posts s'espacent un peu, car je crochette principalement un napperon fin (crochet 0,75 !!!) et une écharpe pour un CAL...

Et j'expérimente aussi avec divers matériaux pour faire des poupées, et vous savez que mon processus de création peut être lent, vu que je commence, puis je laisse en plan pendant quelques jours, jusqu'à la bonne idée suivante... mais c'est presque fini ;)

Hier c'était l'anniversaire de ma belle soeur, et elle a adoré son Caliméro en crochet. elle l'a tout de suite mis en porte clef (j'avais évidemment mis l'attache et anneau nécessaire). Tu vois NathDMC, j'offre mes amigurumis ;)

An amigurumi doll and need for advice

It all started with me wanting to make a doll with long limbs, a bit like Strawberry Shortcake dolls (especially the old ones). And it ended with a doll looking like those little girls who where the latest craze a while ago in England (if you remember the name, please tell us ! 6pm : Annelize won, it's "Bang on the door" !!! ).

That's what I like with amigurumis and creation, you never know what you get in the end.

As you know, I've been away from the web for a while, and I have a feeling of being lost now that I come back. Thank you so much to all of you who keep on reading. I was discussing with NathDMC, and I realised that this blog is quite known as a stitching blog, but these days I mostly crochet. And I'm not sure crochet fans are aware I exist ! And you are surely getting fed up with my crochet as well, if you are only stitching !

So how do you meet new people? Do you have any experience in changing craft and still blogging?

Au départ, j'ai commencé une poupée style Charlotte aux fraises (surtout les anciennes), avec les bras et les jambes assez longs. Et cela s'est terminé par une poupée qui ressemble beaucoup à ces petites filles qui étaient à la mode en Angleterre sur les cartes de voeux, et dont j'ai oublié le nom. 18:00 : annelize a trouvé, c'est "Bang on the door"

C'est ce que j'aime quand je crée mes petits bonshommes, c'est que je ne sais jamais comment ça va être à la fin !!!

Comme vous l'avez sûrement remarqué, j'ai été longtemps absente, donc je vous remercie beaucoup pour être restés fidèles ! En discutant avec NathDMC, je me suis rendue compte que je vous embêtais peut être avec mes trucs en crochet. Ce blog était uniquement sur la broderie au départ, et si c'est votre hobby de prédilection, mes amigurumis peuvent vous barber.

Alors je me demandais si cela ne vaudrait pas la peine de faire un blog sur over blog? Toutes les crafteuses françaises semblent se retrouver là-bas? Mais les plages de pubs rebutent un peu, non? Avez-vous déjà changé votre blog d'orientation, et comment avez-vous retrouvé des lecteurs intéressés par ce que vous avez à dire et à montrer?
