Post 130: Mixed Media Card (The Sands of Time)

Hi friends!

Thanks for visiting my blog :) I'd like to share a vintage card today which is inspired by Indian Mughal History, I call it the Sands of Time, the title also happens to be a book by Sidney Sheldon, I remember reading it as a teenager and thoroughly enjoying it. This is a side folding 6 by 6 size mixed media card.

Synopsis of the process:

The card panel is a pattern paper from the Papericious Incredible India paper pad which was cut slightly smaller than the card base. Then its edges were deckled using a distress tool. Then a couple of images from the same paper pad - Shah Jahan and Taj Mahal were fussy cut. A few die cuts (vintage clock, leaves) along with some strips and strings of burlap and gauze were layered along with the fussy cut images and adhered with tombow glue. Further, some colored texture paste was applied through the gothic stencil to give more dimension. The paste was colored by mixing it with 2 color sprays. Some shading was done to the fussy cut images using a black zig  marker and an aqua brush. Then Shah Jahan's image was decorated with gems and jewels and a big jewel and feather were added to his head turban. The sentiment is from a martha stewart punch, the alphabets were colored with distress inks (to give a vintage worn out look) and then arranged and adhered to the card. A 3-D flower was added to Shah Jahan's hand for added interest.

Post 120: Masculine Birthday Card

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share a masuline themed birthday card today.

This is a top folding A2 size card. I added the panel in a lopsided tilted way to add interest, wanted it to look like office documents hence, added the 3 paper clips at the top. There are 3 colors here besides the neutrals- red, grey and blue. I distressed the edges of the panel to give it a hand torn look and added some stitch lines with a fine point black sharpie. The pattern papers used here are from The Gentleman collection by Papericious. I've used a red button to accent the banner. The sentiment is from Verve stamps and is die cut with a Gina Marie Designs stitched rectangle die. The die cut sentiment is from the Sizzix Tim Holtz Celebration Script words die set, I've colored it partially with black soot distress ink.

Hi Friends!

I'd like to share a card with you today. I'm also excited to share that I am having a small crafty giveaway which is open to anyone worldwide (international folks are most welcome). All the details can be found here -- I'd be super thrilled and honored if you play along :) the prize is a 25 USD gift certificate to any store you like.

Onto the card, this is a side folding A2 size shabby chic birthday card.

Synopsis of the Process :-

I chose 2 sheets of pattern papers from the Papericious Vintage Rosewood collection (6 by 6 size), the papers were cut slightly smaller than the card base and then their edges were distressed with the Tim Holtz distress tool, then the deckled edges were colored with a distress tool and distress ink- tattered rose. The mat and the panel both were adhered to the card base. Then a section of the Papericious lace-leaves was cut into different leaves and colored with distress inks- evergreen bough and cracked pistachio. Some die cuts from prima's forest leaves were also colored with the same distress inks. The gina marie designs leaf wreath die cut was colored with camlin brush pens. Some white colored paper flower die cuts were colored with distress inks as well using a round blending tool, the colors were picked raspberry, victorian velvet and worn lipstick. Then half pearls were adhered to the flower centers. The monarch butterfly from the Kaisercraft Butterflies stamp set was stamped in archival ink and then colored with zig markers. Also the sentiment is from a greetings sticker sheet by itsy bitsy, the edges of the sentiment were distressed and colored with tattered rose distress ink. Some torn gauze was used to give a shabby look while layering all the elements and the papericious flower pattern chipboard was also used here to give added dimension and interest. The elements were placed on the card and once I was happy with the placement, they were stuck down with a hot glue gun.
