Phils acquire infielder Featherston from Angels

On Wednesday, the Phillies acquired infielder Taylor Featherston from the Angels for a player to be named later or cash. The six-foot-one 185-pounder did not perform well as a big league rookie last season, posting a .162/.212/.247 slash line in 101 games. Featherston, 26, had done considerably better since turning pro, notching a .274/.343/.453 in four minor league seasons. He has primarily been a shortstop and second baseman during his professional career, but has also played third base. Featherston was recently designated for assignment by the Angels. He was a 5th round draft selection out of Texas Christian in 2011. This off-season, Featherston played with Licey in the Dominican Winter League, where he tallied a .216 average five RBI in 10 games. This addition will add depth for the Triple-A level. Expect Featherston to get some playing time in big league camp this spring.

Phils Trade Minor League Hurler Cisco to Angels

PN's Jay Floyd has learned that the Phillies have traded righty minor league hurler Michael Cisco to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The 25-year-old was originally selected in the 36th round of the 2008 draft and is the grandson of former Phillies pitching coach Galen Cisco . Combined over his last two seasons with Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Cisco tallied a 13-3 record along with six saves and a 1.70 ERA in 69 outings, all in relief. St. Louis Merchant Proves Point as Pujols Departs

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on Thursday that one fan decided to prove a point to his favorite team's departed star. When news landed that free agent Albert Pujols was leaving the Cardinals to sign a 10-year $254 million contract with the Angels, Paul Russo, who owns a St. Louis based sports apparel chain, decided to give away all remaining merchandise that bared the baseball star's name. According to the article , Russo had recently discontinued ordering Pujols gear, due to the former league most valuable player's uncertainty to return to the club that he helped win the World Series this year. From the Post-Dispatch: Albert Pujols apparel flew off the shelves this morning at the four area Pro Image Sports stores, but only because it was free. Paul Russo, who owns the St. Louis area franchises, said at about 1:30 p.m. that the Chesterfield Mall store had just about given away its entire stock of about 150 shirts and je...
