A 10th round draft pick of the Phillies in 2018, Madison Stokes quickly made a positive impression upon debuting in the professional ranks. Last year in his first full minor league season, the University of South Carolina product posted a .242 average with 10 home runs and 42 RBI primarily as a third baseman and first baseman in 110 games for Class A Advanced Clearwater. Latest Book by Westcott Details Phils' '09 Season

PhoulBallz.com's favorite Phillies author, Rich Westcott, has returned with another book, Back Again: The Story of the 2009 Phillies . The latest book by Westcott looks into the background of the darling of the city, those pennant winning Phillies. The book details all the highlights of the first back-to-back National League World Series participants since the Reds did it in the 1970's. It follows the Phillies from Opening Day through their solid postseason run. The book is a meaningful trip down memory lane with that tremendous 2009 Phillies team. Chapters in the book include recognition of the new Golden Era, a passage on manager Charlie Manuel, one on Moyer's 250th win in the Majors, one on the passing of legendary broadcaster Harry Kalas, detailed entries covering every aspect of the 2009 postseason and surprisingly there is a full analysis of the chain of events that brought Roy Halladay to the Phillies. It also includes a foreword written by Phils broadcaster Tom McC...

Westcott's New Phils Book Launches Today

Regular readers of PhoulBallz.com know that this site respects the history of the game of baseball. PhoulBallz posts weekly features on a historical figure from generations past. Information and stories are gathered for those articles from various sources, including a small collection of Phillies books that I've acquired. Added to that collection of blog post source material is the new release from MVP Books, Philadelphia Phillies Past & Present by Rich Westcott. The author is a regular contributor to the Philadelphia Inquirer, is the incoming president of the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association and has previously written several books on the Phillies. Philadelphia Phillies Past & Present features details from the tough days at the start of the franchise that lead all the way to information on the dynasty that phans are watching these days. The book is a big, picture filled coffee table book that could very well be worth the purchase price to phans simply for the way i...
