BlueClaws mascot Buster and friends perform to Silento's smash hit "Watch Me"

With over 61 million views and climbing on YouTube and a top five ranking on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Silento's blazing hot single "Watch Me" is, as some might say, all the rage among young people across America.  As the song itself is virtually only a steady reminder to view the vocalist's dance moves, its catchy lyrics and party vibe, that encourage listeners to bust a move, or seventy-five moves, have made their way to the world of professional sports. In the video player below, Class A Lakewood BlueClaws mascot Buster and several friends get in on the Silento action and party it up between innings during a recent game.  Check it out.

MLB Jeopardy...Part 11

For $1,000 in the category of douche bag teams that are mistakenly regarded as the class of Major League Baseball, the answer is: The idiot franchise that let a rapper diss them lyrically on their own field prior to a World Series game and later rewarded him with a championship ring. Question: Who are the New York Yankees? Correct! The Yankees invited Jay-Z and Alicia Keys to perform their single "Empire State of Mind" prior to game 2 of the World Series last year at Yankee Stadium. The track contains the lyric, "I made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can." Yankees fans in attendance cheered. Firstly, the phrase is not true. Also, the Yankees should not have let that happen. If the front office wasn't aware of the lyric before the concert was booked, why didn't the players take exception at some point? The team should be embarrassed for giving Jay-Z a World Championship ring after he clearly took credit for people buying their merchandise. And if yo...

Phinally, Your Own Anthem

Ladies and gentlemen, I happily introduce you to rapper NeeKo! He's on YouTube and it seems that this remake of Jay Z's Empire State of Mind is about to blow up. It's an instant classic for Philadelphia! NeeKo's lyrics in this track are dynamic...metaphors and punchlines that are chuckle inducing with assertions that spark pride. I thought this song was necessary last week when I heard post game locker room interviews with Phillies players, while the original Jay Z homage to NYC played in the back ground. Philadelphia, here is your anthem. With the Phillies continuing to make their run at a championship repeat, city and regional pride is growing, so pass this track on to anyone who will enjoy it. They call him NeeKo. This is for my people! Ill state of mind everywhere that we go! ------------------------- Follow PhoulBallz.com on Twitter HERE !

Phreestyle Battle & Notes

Unrelated to baseball, really...but it's fun and our Phils are off today. This new kid on the hip hop scene, Charles Hamilton , whose single Brooklyn Girl is ripping up radio and video count downs, was at PSU for a performance recently. A freestyle battle ensued, and as you'll see, the Penn State student held his own. Stay tuned for the ending. It's the best part. Here are some random Phillies-in-idle baseball thoughts and notes- Colbert Hamels is slated to make his Grapefruit League debut tomorrow vs. Team Canada. Shane Victorino is going to wear #50 on his jersey for Team USA, a nod to Hawaii Five-O. Brad Lidge is likely to not see game action till next week, after he throws some more bullpen sessions and works out the tightness in his forearm. Albert Pujols is declaring "respect for his country" as reasoning for sitting out of the Cardinals' exhibition this week against Team Dominican Republic. He told reporters, "I don’t want to play against them...

Rappers in Phillies Caps

Weekend greetings to you phine pholks out there. Today's post features pictures of rappers wearing Phillies caps. Why rappers in Phillies caps, you ask? Because... Any other questions? We will start things off properly by going with a highly recognizable hip hop star. 50 Cent stays constantly relavant by consistantly creating radio friendly material to help sell (G) units, while he "keeps it real" by still rapping about the thug life he lived before becoming the 2nd highest earning black entertainer in America. 50 is seen here in a recent interview rocking a throw-back Phillies cap. Next up we'll use a throw-back screen cap from what may be the very first major appearance by a rapper wearing Phillies gear. Chuck D, of legendary rap group Public Enemy, wore a Phillies cap in the music video for rap anthem Fight The Power in 1989. The song was the lead single from the soundtrack for Spike Lee's film Do The Right Thing . Next up we'll go with some home grown tal...
