In news that likely surprised nobody, Major League Baseball announced on Tuesday that Phillies first baseman/third baseman Alec Bohm is among the finalists for this year's National League Rookie of the Year Award.   Bohm, who entered the 2020 season as the Phillies top-ranked offensive prospect, performed extremely well following his promotion to the big league's from the club's alternate training site.  In 44 games the 24-year-old tallied a .338 batting average with four home runs and 23 RBI.  The average and RBI total ranked first among all NL rookies, as did his on base percentage (.400), slugging percentage (.481) and hits total (54).   Impressive in clutch situations, Bohm notched a .452 batting average with runners in scoring position, which was best in baseball.  Even more outstanding, the talented youngster struck out just four times in those situations. Image- MiLB.com Acquired over the off-season in a one-for-one trade that sent Freddy Galvis to San Diego, Enyel De Los Santos is a talented hurler that instantly landed among the Phillies' top pitching prospects. A native of the Dominican Republic, De Los Santos signed with Seattle at the age of 18.  He would make his professional debut in 2015 in the Rookie level Arizona League. There, he posted a 3-0 record with a 2.55 ERA in five starts.  The righty earned a promotion to Class A short-season Everett where he would notch a 3-0 record with a 4.06 ERA through eight starts. During the following off-season, he was traded to the Padres in a deal for Joaquin Benoit.  In 2016, making his debut in the Padres organization, De Los Santos would open the season with Class A Ft. Tony Gonzalez was an outfielder with the Phillies from 1960-1968. The Cuban born Gonzalez was a terrific defensive outfielder who was solid at the plate also. Gonzalez debuted in the Major Leagues with Cincinnati in 1960, but veterans Frank Robinson, Gus Bell and Vada Pinson were blocking his playing time. Gonzalez was traded along with Lee Walls to Philadelphia for Harry Anderson, Fred Hopke and Wally Post on June 15, 1960. Gonzalez would quickly contribute as our Phillies' centerfielder, batting .299 in 78 games played. Gonzalez would go on to bat over .300 three times for the Phillies. Gonzalez was small in stature (5'9", 170 pounds), but he would display surprising power also. In 1963, Tony hit 20 homers.
