of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find
the most interesting and intelligent questions. (Past hosts include:

Cheers to all of us thieves!

From Penny Royal Princess

1: Favorite style of clothing  Comfortable!

2: Do I ever get “good morning” or “good night ” texts?  Nope.

3: Have I ever kissed the last person I texted?  As a matter of fact, yes, but it was on the cheek.  My former boss, Claire, asked us out to dinner next week via text.

4: When did I last hold hands?  I have been holding hands with Helen frequently when we are crossing a street or going up stairs or over a curb.

5: How long does it take me to get ready in the morning?  About 40 minutes.

6: Have I shaved my legs in the past three days?  LOL... yes I have.

7: Where am I right now?    In my living room.

8: Do I have someone of the opposite sex I can tell everything to?  Of course. My VBFF is Joe.

9: How often do I wear a fake smile?  Not often.  I'm not good at faking.

10: When was the last time I hugged someone?  Just a few hours ago!

11: Is there anyone I trust even though I should not?  It happens. I tend to be too trusting at times.

12: What is something I disliked about today?  I am very tired. My days have been busy. I don't like being tired.  Helen is an early riser and I'm not anymore - LOL.  And we are on the go all day.  I dislike not being able to keep up with a 90-year old!!

13: If I could meet anyone on this earth, who would it be?  I'm too tired for this one. I really have no idea.

14: What do I think about most?  Lately, it has selfishly been wanting to sleep until noon.

15: Do I prefer to be behind the camera or in front of it?  Definitely behind the camera.

16: Do I prefer talking on the phone or video chatting  online?  Actually neither. I am not a phone talker but do look forward to hearing from loved ones far away.

17: Do I believe in ghosts? How about aliens?  I am open to the possibilities but have never seen either.

18: Do I believe in magic?  Magic is just an illusion and tom-foolery.  I believe some magicians are very good.

19: Do I believe in luck?  Not really, but it sometimes does feel like good luck or even bad luck...

20: What's the weather like right now?  Hot and humid, still.

21: What was the last book I've read?  I am reading a cute 6-book series by Katy Munger, called Casey Jones Mysteries.  Mindless, however.

22: Do I like the smell of gasoline?  No, I do not.

23: What was the worst injury I've ever had?  Torn rotator cuff and tendon, which both got repaired.  I have also had two broken bones that were not fun to deal with.

24: Do I spend money or save it?  Spend it.  Wish there was extra to save.

25: Can I touch my nose with my tongue?  No, but my grandma could.

The Saturday 9...

So Into You

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: So Into You (1977)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The singer says that he noticed the lady in question as soon as she walked into the room. Tell us about someone who made a powerful first impression on you.  You all know my answer is Joe!!  I saw him across the room and was drawn to him on the spot! Truth!

2) He sings that he's so into her, he can't think about other, more mundane things. Do you find you get easily distracted from your daily tasks? Or do you enjoy seeing your everyday chores through completion?  I don't know how much I "enjoy" seeing my chores completed, but I do stay on task when I begin something.

3) The band took their name from Georgia's biggest city. Have you ever been to Atlanta?  Not to visit, though when you spend two hours crawling along through town on I-75 it might feel like you have visited.

4) The Atlanta Rhythm Section once played the White House. President Carter's son, Chip, was a big fan and invited them to play at his 28th birthday party. How did you celebrate your last birthday?  I'm sure we went out to eat, probably to Bone Fish Grill, though I don't really remember for sure. It was nearly 10 months ago and not a milestone birthday.

5) Studio One, where the band made all their recordings, was torn down and replaced by a parking lot. Can you think of a structure that you missed after it met with a wrecking ball?  Nothing comes to mind.

6) This song hit #7 on the US pop charts. 7 is the number most often chosen as "a lucky number." How about you? Do you have a lucky number?  I don't really believe in numerology and fortune stuff, but the number 3 has played a part in my life here and there (and not always for good).

7) Today the Atlanta Rhythm Section reunites with to play at classic rock concerts. What oldies band would you love to see again?  I never went to concerts but it would be fun to see the Rolling Stones as they were if I could do it without a crowd screaming and yelling all around me...

8) In 1977, the star of NBC's Chico and the Man, Freddie Prinze, took his own life. Is there a celebrity death you found shocking?  Robin Williams, for one.

9) Random question: What word do you always misspell?  I am a terrible speller and misspell lots of them. Thank goodness for spell check!! Seriously!

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!"Enjoy your weekend!  Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Friday Foto Friends Time...

Debbie hosts Friday Foto Friends on her blog, Breathing In Grace, where we link-up to share photos from this week!  You can join in HERE!!  Thanks, Deb!!

Y'all know we are running back and forth to the hospital this week, making sure Helen gets to see Cheryl (us too).  That said, the only new photos I have are from our visit to the farm (Joe's client) on Wednesday so you are stuck with them, yet again. Helen stayed home by herself while we were gone.

My two buddies! I did have carrots and apples for them.
I like to think they love me, but it's really the treats I bring!

The client hired a man with an airboat to get out in their pond
to spray the vegetation so it won't take over. Those boats are loud!

Two of the other horses that live on the ranch.

I love seeing our flag against a beautiful blue sky!

Four of the geese.

Two of the ducks with the 'baby' guineas.
The ranch hand told me the guineas think they are ducks.

Cheryl Update:  Thanks again for your prayers.  Cheryl is doing well and has been approved to go to a rehab place for a week before going home.  Helen is not able to care for her so we are happy for this extra week before she goes home.  She is doing very well, though.  This means we will have Helen for another week, which is fine.  It is a blessing that we are able to have her here with us while Cheryl recovers.

Happy Friday!! Thanks for peeking in today!
Peace & hugs!!

The Wednesday Medley...

1. If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?  Take a class to learn something new.
2. What’s your favorite piece of clothing you own/owned?  I have a t-shirt that was my mom's.  She died in 1995.  I don't know how long she had the t-shirt, but I got it after she died and have been wearing it two or three times a month since then. I always say it feels like her arms are wrapped around me when I have it on.  I hope it never disintegrates.
3. What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?  I would get back to making jewelry, or I would buy a new sewing machine and sew again, or I would get back to my genealogy research... or maybe all of those.
4. What would your perfect room look like? (You can post a picture.)  Perfection is right where we live every day...

5. When was the last time you climbed a tree?  Years and years and years ago.  But it used to be one of my favorite things to do!
6. Tell us something you will do/did today.  I took Helen to the eye doctor and then over to her house so she could make some phone calls and do a load of laundry.  My PT appointment was canceled by them and I pretty much told them to cancel it, period. I'll do some strengthening exercises on my own. I think I picked the wrong PT location, but I'm not going to go through finding somewhere else right now.  Then we went to visit Cheryl. She is doing great!
Thanks for your visit! Thanks for joining in on the Wednesday Medley to those who did.
Peace & hugs!!

I'm doing this to fill MY Wednesday and if you are interested, then join in!!  It might be fun!!  (PS... I'm not making these up. I found them all on the internet.)

Cheryl update:  She is in a private room on the cardiac care floor and is off all IVs and tubes. She is walking with help and taking care of personal needs.  AMAZING!  Open heart surgery was just Friday. She is doing great and thanks again for the prayers!!
Today, Helen has an eye doctor appointment and I have a physical therapy consultation appointment. We will also visit Cheryl. The pizza party last night was lots of fun and we are happy to have our across-the-street friends home.  We will be playing Nickels on Friday nights again! Hooray!  :)

My Weekend Recap on Monday!

Our last few days have been spent going back and forth to the hospital, Helen's house, and home again but it has been done with joy in our hearts.  Cheryl came through the surgery just fine and is recovering nicely. When we were visiting yesterday, she had already been up walking and had most of the tubes and IVs removed. She is eating semi-solids and will be going to a private room today.  We are encouraged by her positive attitude and determination!  She knows some of you have been praying for her and told me to say thank you!

Yesterday morning when we were having some breakfast, I looked up and saw this...

Vinny sometimes finds his way to the top of the kitchen cupboards, via the refrigerator. He thinks he is incognito and the top cat.  Helen laughed at him.

I took Helen to her United Methodist church yesterday, and everyone wanted to know how Cheryl was doing. It was nice that they cared and I know it made Helen feel good.  After church, we went straight to the hospital and were so happy to see Cheryl sitting up with most of the tubes out.  She will be moved to a room on the cardiac care floor this morning.

Helen's church is very pretty inside but it is really sad that they only have around 40 people attending on a regular basis. I'm surprised they haven't had to merge with another UMC in town. There are many.  The quilted hangings in the church are so pretty.

Today, I get to see my cardiologist for my 6-month check-up.  I'll do that at 9:00 a.m., then come home to pick up Helen and to hopefully find Cheryl on the 4th floor (cardiac care) in a private room.

Tonight we are hosting a pizza party for our immediate neighbors.  Sharon and Bob are bringing an appetizer and salad, Joe and I are buying the pizza and I baked a yellow cake and put a chocolate ganache on it.  Anne and Paul are back home after being up in New York for the last three months. We just thought we should have a get-together to welcome them home.  I'm sure we will have fun!

Tomorrow, I have my first physical therapy session to start working on strengthening my knees. We will see how it goes!  I also need to get Helen to her eye doctor appointment, and of course, we will visit the hospital to see Cheryl.  Joe is hanging in there and goes with us sometimes and sometimes he just stays at home (and enjoys it).

How was your weekend?  Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs.

Sunday Stealing...

Thought Provoking Questions

Hi! I'm your host Bev Sykes of the blog "Funny the World". ..  Welcome to Sunday Stealing. This feature originated and published on WTIT: The Blog. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. (Past hosts include: Our first - Judd Corizan, Mr. L, Kwizgiver and Bud)  Cheers to all of us thieves!

Here are thought-provoking questions:

(I inadvertently erased the link!  Sorry!)

1. When was the last time you tried something new?  I try new recipes now and then.  Does that count?

2. Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?  I gave up doing that years ago.

3. What’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever heard someone say?  You have to know when to leave the party.

4. What gets you excited about life?  Each new day brings new possibilities!!

5. What life lesson did you learn the hard way? Don't just get married to get married.

6. What do you wish you spent more time doing five years ago?  Saving for retirement.

7. Do you ask enough questions or do you settle for what you know?  I ask a lot of questions.  Who knows if it is enough?

8. Who do you love and what are you doing about it?  First and foremost, I love Joe and I try to show him every day through my actions.

9. What’s a belief that you hold with which many people disagree?  That Christ died for our sins and we are saved by His blood.

10. What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago?  Sleep in and not worry about getting up to go to work!

11. Do you think crying is a sign of weakness or strength?  For myself, I say strength.

12. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?  I really don't worry about people judging me.

13. Do you celebrate the things you do have?  I don't know that I celebrate what we have, but I am humble and thankful for the blessings I've been given.

14. What is the difference between living and existing?  They say it better than I can...

15. If not now, then when?  Ha!  Whenever I get around to it!!

16. Have you done anything lately worth remembering?  Every day is worth remembering!!  Life it too short to just let it all go by with no memory!

17. What does your joy look like today?  Taking Helen to her church and then visiting Cheryl, who is improving each day, praise God!

18. Is it possible to lie without saying a word?  By your actions, yes.

19. If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow this person to be your friend?  I outgrew that stuff years ago. I'm good to myself these days.

20. Which activities make you lose track of time?  Blogging, Facebook, marathon-watching a series on TV...

21. If you had to teach something, what would you teach?  At one time I wanted to be an art teacher and an English teacher.  I guess I'll stick with that.

22. What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?  I've said it before and it is still true.  I don't regret anything and I have all I need in life.

23. Are you holding onto something that you need to let go of?  Yes. Too many clothes.

24. When you are 80-years-old, what will matter to you the most?  Faith, family and dear friends.  The same things that matter most right now.

25. When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards and just do what you know is right?  Well, others might tell you differently but I've never been "calculating" and HOPE that I have always done what it right.

Thanks to Bev Sykes for this week's Sunday Stealing!!  You can visit HERE to join in!

Update:  Cheryl was sitting in a chair yesterday but is still hooked up to a million or so tubes. Some of them are to come out today and that should make her feel better.  Hoping she will be moved to a private room on the cardiac floor tomorrow.  She is eating soft solids, which is great!

Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs!!

Saturday 9: Herman's Hermits

Listen, People

Welcome to Saturday 9.

Saturday 9: Listen, People (1966)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) Basically, Herman is telling us that we each both break hearts and have our hearts broken during our lifetime. Do you agree?  I think that statement has some truth to it.

2) He implores us to take his advice. Have you more recently given or received advice?  I've given some advice to Helen recently.

3) Herman's real name is Peter Noone. He was popular with girls because of his bright, toothy smile. How's your oral health?  Good.  When are you due to go to the dentist?  I just went a couple of months ago, so about 4 more months.

4) Peter/Herman got married on his 21st birthday. That's one way to make sure you don't forget your anniversary. Do you have a good memory for anniversaries and birthdays?  For immediate family, yes, but I rely on my calendar for most others.

5) Between 1965 and 1971, the Hermits worked very hard. They appeared on all the major TV shows of the day, recorded albums, made a movie and then crisscrossed the United States and the United Kingdom, performing live. After those six years, Peter decided he'd had enough and left the group. Have you ever felt burned out and ready for a change?  Of course. Several times.

6) In 1966, when this song was popular, the miniskirt took the fashion world by storm. What's the most recent piece of clothing you added to your wardrobe?  Probably a top. I haven't purchased anything new in a while.

7) In 1966, TVs were expensive pieces of furniture. A set with a 16" screen and a wood console sold for $250, which is $1,950 in today's dollars. Tell us about your TV. How big is it? 50 inch.  Where did you buy it?  Sam's Club.

8) David Schwimmer, aka Ross on Friends, was born in 1966. Who was your favorite FriendPhoebe.

9) Random question -- Describe your dream car.  One that never breaks down, never gets a flat tire, never needs a new battery and gets me where I need to go when I need to go.  I'm not a car snob. I just want it to be reliable.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's Saturday 9!!  You can join in HERE!

UPDATE:  Cheryl came through the surgery just fine.  The surgeon came out to let us know everything went well. We got to see her in the SICU room with the breathing tube and all the other tubes.  She looked horrible but we are happy it is over and that it went well.   We called last night to see how she was doing and the nurse told me they took out the breathing tube and she is breathing on her own just fine.  She still has a pacemaker. They will try taking her off of it tomorrow.  There is a chance she will need a pacemaker... time will tell.  We will visit this morning, after 9:00.  She will most likely not get to a regular room until Monday, thanks to the weekend.  Your prayers are much appreciated for continued good recovery!! Thanks so much!
