Even at thirty seven, with a challenging but rewarding career as a paramedic, Bella Gomez is treated as the baby of the family. It’s made her allergic to anyone meddling, so she chooses to keep mostly to herself. Unfortunately that doesn’t stop her family from inserting themselves in her life. Nor does it deter the one man she knows she shouldn’t get close to from showing up on her doorstep. Jasper Greene, an FBI agent with the La Plata County field office, doesn’t even know the meaning of family. His team is his family, which is why—when his boss asks him to keep an eye on his baby sister—Jasper readily complies. Even when the sister in question is a spectacularly developed princess with plenty of attitude. With a shooter on the loose and corruption running rampant, Bella is a magnet for trouble, and Jasper finds himself with his hands full—in more ways than one.

My Review:

I have become an avid Freya Barker reader and greedily await the arrival of each new book as she has a uniquely appealing and amusingly observant writing style that never fails to please or entertain. Her clever characters are admirable and hard-working everyday heroes who are also the type of flawed and complex creatures I would enjoy spending time with.   Add in an intriguing serial murder mystery, corruption, a large and loud meddling family for levity, and sensual chemistry that sets of the smoke alarm for a bonus - and I am a happy camper.

Handled with care

As always, this author tackled a tough subject like depression with the care it deserves. It wasn't the main focus of the story, which I was glad because I need happy too. It was just a good example of a more realistic romance and what life can throw at you.

In Cabin 12 first impressions are wrong and the road to finding love filled with intense chemistry, self doubt, emotional ups, downs and everything in between, add in an exceptional supporting cast and you have a great book to escape into for a few hours! Bella and Jasper are perfect for each other; it just takes them a bit to figure it out.

Cabin 12 is an intriguing, captivating romantic suspense story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and rooting for Bella and Jasper to find their happily ever after!

Just when I think I can pick out my favorite book by Freya Barker, she comes out with one that outshines my favorite. Jasper and Bella's story is just that book. Not only does this master storyteller spin an amazing romance, but she weaves in a stellar suspense plot that offers surprises all the way through the book. There are so many layers to Cabin 12 and each reveal is like unwrapping a Christmas present. Ms. Barker hits a lot of topics in this book: depression, family dynamics, foster care, sexual harassment, and corruption. She weaves them together flawlessly into a great romantic suspense story that keeps the reader on their toes throughout.
Bella is the youngest of the Gomez clan, a loud, loving family with a matriarch that is more like a bull in a china shop than a doting mother. At thirty-seven her family often forgets she isn't a child anymore. However, her interactions with her father are priceless. I think he may be my favorite of the family not living in Durango. A paramedic she faces life and death situations every day, and unfortunately some hit close to home and rock Bella to the core.
Jasper met Bella and sparks flew, not necessarily in a positive way when they first met. As the story progresses that changes but coming from vastly different backgrounds, and given their shared circle of family and friends, there are concerns. Add in a serial killer targeting police officers and things really heat up.
Ms. Barker creates characters that are mature and have dealt with issues in their lives. They know what they want and they don't play games to reach their HEA. Her characters quickly become like old friends and she pulls the reader into the story from page one. Reading a book by this author is like eating a potato chip, when your done, you will want another book right away. Read this book and see what I mean.

12/1/2022 - Relisten before this leaves Audible Plus on 12/20,

This is book 2 in the Rock Point series. While you don’t have to listen to book 1 to enjoy this, I’d recommend it. Series is definitely best enjoyed in order.

I really enjoyed Jasper & Bella’s story. Barker’s characters are older - Jasper is 41 and Bella is 37. While things are going great with her career Bella is secretly struggling with depression. I really like the way Barker handled such a complicated topic, especially Jasper’s willingness to support Bella without micromanaging her. Which means a lot because the majority of her family still sees and treats her as “the baby” of the family. My only complaint would be Jasper using the word “Squirt” as a pet name for Bella. It doesn’t feel like a romantic endearment. (Note: this actually didn’t bother me the second time through, must have just hit me wrong the first time around.)

Again this has a fantastic mix of fairly low angst romance, mystery, and suspense. Cops in town are being murdered and as the complicated investigation unravels it’s apparent many people in town are connected. There’s a kidnapping, survival of the victim, and rescue that adds to the story. I enjoyed the pacing.

I enjoyed the updates on Damian and Kerry as well as the subtle foundations for book 3. This was an enjoyable listen.

Narration:
I loved Teddy Hamilton & Cynthia Farrell’s performances. They were the perfect match for their individual characters. Especially Farrell’s accents and Spanish.

I loved Bella in Damian’s book (Keeping 6) so diving into her story has been awesome.

I did hate the way her family treated her until they see what a strong women she is. She really can take care of herself and she does. Falling for Jasper was a sure thing you could feel their attraction.

I liked that he wanted to make sure she was safe. I love the give and take. But what I liked most was when Bella needs to assert herself he allows her to do it without judgement.

I loved Bella’s dad and how he apologized after that he should have taken a stance long before he did with her mother. But the love is there so you can see why it was so hard for Bella to just be who she is.

Great listen, the narration was perfect for this couple.

I just swiped left to the last page and I’m sad to be finished. Cabin 12 was such an intense, suspense filled story!!!

I connected to Bella on a personal level (I have dealt with anxiety and depression for over 10 years); Ms. Barker nailed every emotion that Bella experienced.

Jasper....oh my, Jasper....where I thought Damian was ALPHA, I discover that Jasper is just as ALPHA (which I LOVED!!!!!!

This story was absolute perfection! I would start reading and not want to stop but I had to adult.....as soon as I was done adult-ing, my nook was open!

PS...I really hope we get more books in the Rock Point series.

This was loaded with drama, intrigue, personal issues, family and romance. I loved that Bella was strong and independent even as she had faults and insecurities. Her struggle with depression was written with a sensitive hand and I really appreciated the way that it was dealt with within the story. Jasper was amazing in the way he protected her but was also able to give her the space she needed. I couldn’t ask for a more caring, strong, yet sensitive, hero.

The story line kept me engaged. I was able to connect to the characters and found them all endearing. I loved Bella’s family and found them and her coworker to be great additions to the story. As always, this author weaves a bit of humor throughout making sure that I not only swoon at times, I cry a bit and laugh as well.

Bella is the baby of her big, meddlesome family, even at 37. They treat her like she's still a baby, too, even though she's a mature adult with a serious job as a paramedic. Her brother's teammate, Jasper, has irritated her from their very first meeting, but lately the sparks between them seem to be masking something other than simply irritation with each other. Could love and commitment be in their future? Well, possibly. If they can get past all the hurdles in their way. Things like a serial killer, Bella's anxieties, Jasper's belief that he's not good enough for her, and the fact that his boss is her very protective, bossy af big brother.

Cabin 12 is a fantastic piece of storytelling. Bella and Jasper are such a great couple with palpable chemistry, fraught with passion of course, but not just that, I like how their relationship is believable with realistic problems for two very realistic characters. The mystery and suspense portion of the story, too, is fantastic, and adds another dimension to an already great story. I can't wait to read more about this Rock Point world!

We met Bella and Jasper in book 1, Keeping 6, but I strongly feel that you could pick up Cabin 12 and not be lost in the story. From their first impressions of each other Bella thinks Jasper is a player and she is certainly not going there again. Jasper sees Bella as a pampered princess. When investigations start in town and Jasper finds himself keeping an eye on Bella, he quickly sees a whole different side to her and slowly we watch the dislike turn to something more. They have serious chemistry that they were obviously fighting even though they didn't realize it. The growing of this relationship happens over a fairly short period of time but doesn't feel rushed in any way. They have many ups and downs along they way, from Bella's worries of the past keeping her cautious to Jasper's feeling that he isn't enough and can't give her the things she really needs.

In true Freya Barker fashion the suspense and the weaving of the story line is well planned out. You almost feel like you are part of the investigation and need a notepad to take notes as you read. I find myself trying to see if I can figure out who "done it" before it is revealed.

There is a good balance between the suspense and romance in this book. I love that Ms Barker is not afraid to write about difficult subjects such as depression and self worth. She does this by building up her characters and showing us that not everyone is frail despite whatever issues or problems they have. Bella's big overbearing family brings with them many laughs and strong secondary characters to love.

I can't wait for more of the Rock Point series. Wonder who will get their story next.

My new favorite of Ms. Barker!!
Love everything about this book. Jasper and Bella’s book was just as I love my books. With lots of suspense and very good topics of depression, sexual harassment, corruption and a big meddling family, this book had me hooked from the beginning.
Poor Bella being the youngest in the family, everyone in the family was very protective of her, even though she’s a mature woman of thirty-seven years.
Jasper never had a family, coming from foster care, thinks that he’s not good enough for Bella, who has a big loving and very meddling family.
What I love about Freya Barkers books is that the characters are mature and that I can identify myself with. I could identify myself with the topic of depression and it was very good written.
Can’t wait to read more of this series.
Is Luna next?

Freya Barker is an author who’s been on my radar for quite a while. I’ve always heard good things about her and her novels, so when I was offered a chance to read an ARC of Cabin 12, I said yes without hesitation.

Cabin 12 in the second book in the Rock Point series, but can be easily read as a stand-alone. This is the story of Bella Gomez, a paramedic attempting to rebuild her personal and professional life after being unwittingly drawn into a criminal scandal in New Mexico. She’s moved to Durango to surround herself with family and to reestablish her career. While her new assignment as a paramedic is going well, she is constantly challenged by her well-meaning relatives who still insist on treating her as the baby of the family.

When Bella is introduced to Jasper Greene, an FBI agent supervised by Bella’s older brother, sparks fly. At first, the two get on one another’s nerves but when Jasper decides there’s more to Bella than meets the eye, he becomes interested in knowing her better. As his attraction for Bella grows, her brother asks Jasper to help look after her for several weeks while he’s out of town. The circumstances couldn’t be better for Bella and Jasper’s budding romance, except that a cop killer is terrorizing their city and Bella often finds herself at the center of the trouble.

For me, there were several refreshing elements to Cabin 12. I loved that the heroine was Hispanic and that her family was prominently featured in the supporting cast. Readers looking for diversity in their fictional characters will be pleased with Bella’s strong personality and devotion to her family, despite her struggles to assert her independence. Additionally, Bella and Jasper are mature adults – she in her 30’s and he in his 40’s. Given the combined stressors of their respective careers along with unresolved personal issues from Bella’s recent past, it was refreshing to watch how these wiser characters dealt with the strife hurled at them. I also enjoyed the suspense of the unfolding mystery at the center of this novel. The plot was well-paced, the tension built to a fever pitch, and the action was well written.

Cabin 12 is a great introduction to the writings of Freya Barker. I’m definitely going back to read Keeping 6, the first book in the Rock Point series, and won’t be surprised if I become a devoted fan of the author. If you’re looking for a refreshing and dynamic change in the world of romance, I enthusiastically recommend this book.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Even at thirty seven with a challenging but rewarding career as a paramedic, Bella Gomez is treated as the baby of the family. It's made her allergic to anyone meddling, so she chooses to keep mostly to herself. unfortunately that doesn't stop her family from inserting themselves in her life. Nor does it deter the one man she knows she shouldn't get close to from showing up on her doorstep. Jasper Greene, an FBI agent with the La Plata County field office, doesn't even know the meaning of family. His teas is his family, which is why when his boss asks him to keep and eye on his baby sister, Jasper readily complies. Even when the sister in question is a spectacularly developed princess with plenty of attitude. With a shooter on the lose and corruption running rampant, Bella is a magnet for trouble, and Jasper finds himself with his hands full in more ways than one.

Cabin 12 is the second book in the Rock Point Series from Freya Barker. The first book is Keeping six and the main character in this book were introduced in the first book which is equally as good. I do however feel like you could read this one without having to read the first. But keep in mind your missing a great book. This could be a best friends sister kind of read and those are some of my favorites. This is the story of Jasper who has agreed to keep an eye on his best friends sister Bella. He assumes she is a spoiled pampered princess and she sees him as a player. However it does not take long for them to figure out they have been wrong about each other. Don't forget too that this book is a romantic suspense book and that is what kept me on my toes trying to figure out what exactly was going on and on the edge of my seat. Top it off with Bella's off the charts family and you have a book that you will not be able to put down.

ARC read 19th August 2018

Another gorgeous must read in the Rock Point series and although this is the second book in the series it can easily be read as a standalone. However I strongly recommend the first book is read too just because it is fabulous!

In this book the two main characters were an instant hit for me. Bella was a welcome surprise and not what I was expecting. The youngest in the dynamic but loving Gomez family, she is seen as the baby of the clan even though she is an independent thirty-seven year old woman! She finds her place and makes sure everyone knows her strengths and resilience. When she meets Jasper the sparks fly and the initial enemies turn into something so much more. This relationship is one that fully engages the reader for sure!

As the plot progresses, the suspenseful sub story adds a delicious layer to the storyline. I loved everything about this book. From the heated connection between Jasper and Bella, to the fabulous cast of supporting characters (plus a cameo from sexy pair Damian and Kerry!) this book had everything that I want in a seriously compelling and addictive read. A truly wondrous and dramatic story of love, passion, family and life. You definitely do not want to miss this! Five Stars.

Fantastic read! Cabin 12 is Book 2 in this author`s Rock Point series. The H/h in this book were introduced in Book 1, Keeping 6, but this one reads well as a standalone. Bella is our heroine, Damian`s sister from Keeping 6. Jasper, our hero, is an FBI agent working for Damian. First impressions are so often wrong. Jasper sees Bella as a pampered princess and she sees Jasper as a player. They quickly realize their error and so our romance begins. In terms of romantic suspense I enjoyed this story. It almost seems like two separate mysteries but as the layers to this story are revealed, we see how they are connected and the greater story arc appears. A smart, well-written, perfectly paced plot. Bella and Jasper's HEA is often a rocky one. In addition to the conflict of Jasper putting the moves on his boss's sister, we see Bella struggling with depression and the constant feeling of needing to prove herself to her family. And speaking of secondary characters..... we get to see much more of Bella's family and all their nosey , loving craziness. I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series (think I have a pretty good idea of which couple will be next). Great addition to the series!

WRONG!!! Cabin 12 blew me away!! Jasper and Bella are the perfect couple and Ms Barker’s flare with words draws you in, keeping you riveted until the very end!!! I’m in awe with her fluid style and the world she has built. May we all live in Rock Point...forever!!!

I really do enjoy reading Ms. Barker's books they are so different from the other romance novels. Her books are full of action, romance cockiness and also have characters that are middle aged. Bella had so much spunk to her and Jasper knew just how to handle her it was great watching their relationship grow. My only thing I wish the ending wasn't so rushed. Other than that the book was fantastic. I do plan on reading much more of her books. She is now one of my go to authors.

Five stars aren’t even close!

Every single time, and I mean—Every. Single. Time—I pick up a new book from Freya Barker, I say the same thing, “Oh my god! This is definitely the best book she’s ever written!” Am I going to say it again? Oh, hell yes!

Cabin 12 takes place in Durango, Colorado, and revolves around Bella Gomez, who we were introduced to in the first book of the series, Keeping 6, and Jasper Greene, an FBI agent who works for Damian Gomez, Bella’s brother.

Bella is something else! She’s an EMT who’s great at her job, compassionate, smart, but sassy with a serious bite to her. She’s the youngest of five children who grew up in a crazy and loud and loving Latino household, and where the answer to every problem can be solved with her overbearing Ma’s tamales and the like—but sometimes ... you can scream and not be heard.

Jasper sees her and hears her. He always has. I absolutely love how he winds his way into Bella’s life, which isn’t an easy thing to do when, Damian, his boss and Bella’s uber-protective brother are one and the same! But since Damian and Kerry are away, well ... Jasper slowly but surely gains Bella’s friendship and trust as both their jobs entwine with the other’s. He has the ability to calm the storms that rage inside of Bella just when she needs it. The more time they spend together, Jasper catches on pretty quickly as to what’s going on with Bella. As much as the two banter, or should I say Bella banters, they both are very aware of what they mean to each other. Jasper is smart, sexy-as-hell, funny, and almost as uber-protective of Bella as her brother. Considering the way he deals with “the tornado” that is the Gomez family, Jasper is a saint.

Cabin 12 has plenty of thrilling suspense with lots of twists and turns as the local PD and the FBI try to solve multiple murders taking place in Durango. As this unfolds, the rest of the amazing cast of characters come into play. Bella’s partner, Ryan, is THE BEST and knows exactly how to handle Bella. They have a great working relationship. Luna, Blackfoot, and Dylan are genuinely likable characters, too, who all play a huge part in bringing justice to those who deserve it.

Along with an incredible supporting cast, I love the side stories going on that help to create a storyline that’s rich and overflowing. There’s also a couple of serious topics that are touched upon, such as depression and sexual harassment in the workplace.

I simply cannot rave enough about this book. Freya Barker’s writing style is akin to how we all think and speak ourselves. Freya’s talent astounds me with every word she spins and weaves, and Cabin 12 is no exception. Five stars aren’t nearly enough for this gem!

Cabin 12 is one of those books that had me trying to decide if I wanted to race through the pages or go as slowly as possible in order to make the story last. On one hand, I loved Bella and Jasper and I really wanted to know the outcome of the case that was a focal point of the story. On the other hand, I really loved Bella and Jasper and I wanted to savor their relationship.

Bella has a rough few years. After finding out that the man she was dating for more than 5 years cheated on her almost the whole time, she was left to deal with the professional and personal fallout on her own when he disappeared to avoid being arrested for sexual misconduct charges. That led to a personal low in her life and a vow that she will never again be tempted by smooth talking players or even remotely take a chance on someone that she works with in any capacity.

Jasper is part of her brother Damian's FBI team, and they have butted heads from the moment they met but that is more a reaction to the attraction between them than an indication of true animosity. Jasper's team is the only family he knows, and crossing the line with the boss's sister is a surefire way to get his butt kicked and cause friction on the team too.

As the youngest daughter in a large family, Bella has always felt suffocated by her overbearing siblings and parents and she rebels against that feeling every chance she gets - particularly when Damian butts his nose in where it doesn't belong. When she is injured on the job she loves, keeping it on the down low is her first priority so that she doesn't have to listen to any of them tell her yet again that she shouldn't be an EMT. Jasper coming to the rescue when one of the doctors makes yet another inappropriate advance was not part of the plan, nor was him seeing the damage inflicted by a drunk patient with a knife. She is surprised when he agrees to keep quiet about it to give her a chance to deal with it herself despite the position that puts him in with Damian if he were to find out.

When Damian leaves for his 3 week honeymoon in Europe, Jasper is left in charge of the team and with the understanding he will keep an eye on Bella too. None of them would have predicted that a serial killer seeming to target cops would become an issue in their lives or how both Jasper and Bella would be pulled into the thick of things. Intense circumstances lead to walls coming down and the temptation to cross that line is stronger than ever.

Bella is more fragile in some ways than she wants to admit, yet she finds herself trusting Jasper enough to share that vulnerability with him. Discovering that he is not the player she had him pegged for is a welcome discovery, and they definitely have the chemistry to burn up the pages! But the looming threat of the killer on the loose, the unwanted suffocating attention of her mother and sisters along with their unsolicited opinions of her life choices, and the uncertainty of Damian's reaction when he returns home and discovers their new relationship are all overshadowed when Bella's life is placed in immediate danger.

Ms. Barker gives us a wonderful story with just the right mix of suspense, heat and emotional turmoil in Cabin 12. I love the fact that these characters are right in my age range with the types of concerns and issues that exist in the real world rather than being picture perfect. This book is definitely on my "to be re-read" list- and that may happen sooner rather than later!

Freya Barker is one of those authors who has been on my to be read list for quite some time, and I recently read Keeping Six, so I was incredibly eager to re-enter the world of Rock Point with Cabin 12. I highly recommend this title if you are like me and love a romantic suspense, that is full of emotion and keeps you on the edge of your seat with twists and turns. There are several characters who crossover from Keeping Six, to Cabin 12 but you could easily read this title as a standalone.

Bella is the youngest Gomez sibling, we met her older brother Damien in Keeping Six. She’s works as a paramedic, and is strong, independent, and resilient, yet quite fragile and vulnerable at the same time. As much as she’s devoted to her family, they are quite meddlesome and can be a tad overbearing and controlling at times.

Jasper is an FBI agent, who works under the leadership of Bella’s older brother. He’s incredibly smart, sexy and protective, and oozes the whole brooding alpha vibe.

Enemies at first sight, this pair have a tendency to rub each other the wrong way, but appearances can be deceiving as a much as this pair antagonise each other, the more time they spend in each other’s company, more sparks fly. The chemistry they share is undeniable, and they have quite a bit in common, in particular the pasts they are both trying to out run.

Overall a well paced story with characters that are not only realistic, but relatable and I will be eagerly awaiting future additions to this series.

Y'all, I didn't think it was possible, but I think I love Bella and Jasper more than I love Kerry and Damien. And y'all know how much I absolutely adore Kerry and Damien. But oh my Lord, there is just something about Jasper that makes me legit weak in the knees. And Bella with her tough as nails personality? LOVE THEM.

Story Line: Bella is Damien's little sister. She's an EMT so her path crosses with Jasper's not only in their personal lives since Damien is his boss, but also in her line of work as well. She fights like a champ when it comes to her feels and attraction to the mega hottie FBI agent, however, Jasper has other plans. With nut jobs on the loose, and his boss asking him to keep an eye on his baby sister, any resolve these two had to keep a wall up between them is totally gone. Oh, and when I say there are nut jobs on the loose, you read that correctly. Plural. More than one. SERIOUSLY. This story line is pure genius. Every single time I thought the happily ever after was on its way to my greedy little eyes, another twist or turn pops up. This story was far from predictable. And the characters? They are so beautifully developed. Even in their flaws and imperfections, they are the most relatable I have ever read.

Interaction: Bella is quite the straight shooter. She's darn good at her job, and proud of her line of work. Yet, somehow doesn't come across as arrogant in the least. She's a beautiful, curvy woman who isn't afraid to eat at McDonalds. And who wouldn't love that about her? Jasper is probably the biggest supporter of Bella's curves. I love that these characters are so dang realistic. Bella isn't a size 2. Jasper isn't a 25 year old billionaire. They are the closest to real as a fictional character could ever possibly get. Their conversations, their appearances, their jobs. All of it. I felt like I was living right along side them.

Laundry: You know me. I will never ever skip over this important aspect of these amazing novels. Do Bella and Jasper have dirty sweet laundry? Um, duh. Freaking duh. Is Jasper incredibly talented between the sheets. Honey please. He's a big brooding man with absolutely no problem bringing his woman to her knees. Every single intimate scene with these two left my fingers tingling. Seriously. Their chemistry is total couple goals.

Depth: The twists, the turns, and especially the Gomez family brings so much to the table as far as depth is concerned. Yes, that's right. Bella's family? They are hilarious, for starters. They are way too involved and a little cray-cray, but that's exactly how my family is too. So they just made this story that much more relatable in my eyes. But it's those previously mentioned basket cases that bring quite a bit of complexity to the story. I kid you not, just when you think things are going to calm down, something else happens and everything is thrown off course once again. I love a good story that leaves me guessing every step of the way. I was 90% finished with the book and I didn't even know if Bella and Jasper would end up together. No joke. But rest assured, y'all. These two DEFINITELY get their happily ever after.

Go add this incredible story to your TBR shelf right now. And don't let it sit there very long, because I promise you, you're going to fall in love with this couple. They are my favorite Freya couple and that's saying a lot.

I enjoyed Keeping 6 and was excited to give this one a go. One of my concerns with Keeping 6 was that romance was really heavy in the book and kind of left the suspense part lacking. Some things were kind of unrealistic in my eyes. I have to say in Cabin 12 that is not the case at all. The suspense aspect is actually more center stage than the romance.

In Cabin 12 we meet Bella and Jasper. I loved this, because Bella was a character I enjoyed in Keeping 6. She's one of the main characters sisters in that book. She moved away when she had some problems and her family wouldn't leave her alone. She needs some space and living near her brother is the best she can do. Bella is a character that I really loved. She has been through a lot and needs to work through it. Slowly she starts realizing how strong she is and fights for herself. I loved how much she grew in this book!
Jasper is the other main character and works with Bella's brother. He's Jasper's boss. His work is everything to him, because he didn't have a family growing up and that's what his team is to him now. I loved Jasper. He is so protective and caring and will do just about anything for someone he loves. Even though he is still learning how to let himself feel. Only Jasper definitely way too much.

In the beginning, Jasper and Bella seem like an unlikely pairing, but it works better than you think. They have fun flirting, teasing and even arguing. It's clear there's an attraction, it just takes them awhile. Like I said, the romance isn't center stage, but it doesn't mean you don't feel it!
A case Jasper and his team are working on is pretty important and very scary. In the end it has way more things to discover than they expected. It ends up involving them all and it really kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved that the author doesn't drag it out, but gives just the right amount of holding off on information.

All in all, this book is a great combination of romance and suspense. We get the sweet, romantic and sexy moments we crave in a book like this, but also suspense that leaves you wanting more. And for readers who read Keeping 6, you get a look at how the characters are doing from the first book. I love when authors do that.

I really hope the author gives us more books in this series!

Freya Barker never fails to move me with her words. Cabin 12 is yet another example of how her writing grabs you, pulls you in, and transports you into a world filled with breathtaking romance, heart pounding suspense, deep family bonds, and gripping mystery. There’s this mix of both instant comfort and bouncing excitement I get every time I open one of her books. It’s one of my favorite feelings in the world.
As always no one does more mature and real characters quite the way Freya Barker does. Bella was not only a character I loved reading about, she was also another character from Freya that I could relate to on a much deeper level. This is where I once again have to pause and say a thank you to the author. She does not shy away from mental health, and she also doesn’t wrap it up in a pretty bow. Her realistic and honest approach to writing a character with depression filled my heart in a way I can’t even begin to explain.
Bella made me feel less alone in what I personally struggle with and I cannot thank this author enough for that. Bella having depression did not define her in the least, it was just a part of her not who she was. Her strength, drive, and determination along with a heart full of endless love rounded her into a character I will always consider a favorite.
Jasper was another hero from Freya that stole my heart. They all do. Her heroes are all distinctly unique, but always have that something special that takes them to a whole other level of swoony awesomeness. For Jasper there were many things that made me adore him, but mostly it’s the way he protects and cares for Bella without holding her back and always respecting her. This is a man who’s not afraid to let his woman shine and be the incredibly strong person she is.

So, if you follow my reviews you KNOW that I adore EVERYTHING Ms Barker writes, that she is one of my Unicorn authors!!! Well let me tell you, she has NOT disappointed in any way with Cabin 12...it's all in there! The smooth flow of the storyline, the way Freya has of sucking you in immediately and doesn't let you go until you've finished yet another STELLAR, emotionally gripping, heart-stoppingly beautiful story that you don't want to end, the crisp attention-to-detail that you find in ALL of her novels and yet ANOTHER hero and heroine to fall in love with and feel like they are REALLY yours!

Jasper and Bella's enemies-to-lovers story hooked me from the start with the intense suspense-filled dynamic between these two. I loved Bella's kick-ass personality, being the "baby" of the family (at 37!) she's had to be tough to stand up to her over-protective family (especially her older brother Damien!) Jasper works with Damien, who is his boss, and the chemistry between Bella and Jasper is off-the-charts!!! When Damien and Kerry go off on their honeymoon, Jasper is tasked with keeping a protective eye on Bella....and the sparks ignite into a full-blown inferno! I can still feel the heat! There are so many layers and twists and turns in this mind-blowing, unforgettable love story...there's INTENSE drama and angst, DELICIOUS sexual chemistry out the wazoo, some VERY real timely issues addressed that make it feel so much more REAL and of course, the satisfying HEA that I LIVE for!!

I can't recommend this book AND this author highly enough! ANOTHER MUST READ from Freya Barker!!!

Cabin 12 is the second book in the Rock Point series, and I absolutely LOVED every minute of it. While you don't need to read Keeping 6 (Book 1), I highly suggest you do, as Damian & Kerry make several appearances. This story is about his baby sister Bella, who's an EMT even though her family hates her job, and they meddle so much, she stays to herself. However, while getting injured on the job, she encounters Jasper Greene, who works for her brother, at the hospital as he's injured as well. They have stayed away from each other out of dislike, or maybe too much chemistry, but when Damian asks Jasper to keep on eye on her, things get complicated fast. That chemistry explodes everywhere, leading to lighting the sheets on fire with their sexy times. However, there's a huge push & pull, as she's independent, and he's a protector, more so when his newest case has everyone stumped with the suspect on the loose. And this is where it gets really exciting, as the amazingly talented Freya Barker added in f-bomb worthy twists which kept me on the edge of my seat. In between the suspense & sexy times, there's some serious angst, as realistic topics come into play, so my emotions were completely messed with. Finally, there's a big boisterous cast of secondaries that make up her family, and even her partner at work, who add in some hilarious chaos to the mix. Again, I absolutely LOVED this story, and CANNOT WAIT for more in this awesome series! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

CABIN 12 is another great addition to the Freya Barker catalogue. Without even looking at the book blurb, I know I am going to get a story about mature characters who come with a few dents. They live typical lives like us but often do remarkable things that make me cheer for them.

This book is no exception. In Jasper and Bella, we have two characters who may be outwardly composed but underneath lies a sense of unworthiness. Jasper Greene, a product of the foster care system, leads quite a solitary life. He’s never had a family and does not think he is capable of contributing enough as a partner to have ever tried. On the other hand, Bella Gomez is the youngest in a family whose method of helping involves large doses of interference and precious little listening.

Jasper and Bella know of each other but it’s the suspense element of the story that has them spending time together and learning from each other that not only are they both deserving but they have a lot to offer as individuals and as partners. And let’s not forget the spicy times. These two give us some hot stuff.

I enjoy Freya’s observations about not only romance but of family life. There is plenty of familial interference in this book and it is just so real; there are times of joy interspersed with times you want to tear your hair out.

CABIN 12 is perceptive, thoughtful, sexy and intriguing. It’s well worth reading.

Cabin 12 by Freya Barker is the second book in her Rock Point series. I have to say that this was a great book even though I haven’t read the first in the series. This is my first time reading a book by Freya Barker. The author does not disappoint in Cabin 12.
Cabin 12 explores the budding romance between Jasper and Bella. Jasper is an FBI agent and Bella is an EMT. Jasper works with Bella’s brother Damien who is Jasper’s boss. They are in the middle of investigating case of some shooting and killing police officers. During the middle of the investigation, Bella and Jasper discover that they like each other. The chemistry between them is off the charts. Bella has had to deal with some things that happened to her. Bella is kidnapped while the investigation is going on in the case of the cop killer.
Do Bella and Jasper have a chance with love? You will have to read Cabin 12 to find out. I really enjoyed reading Cabin 12. Freya Barker had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going and who the killer was. Cabin 12 has everything that a romance novel lover like loves to read. It had plenty of hot sex, chemistry, and suspense. The suspense was off the charts. I definitely recommend Cabin 12 to readers to read. You definitely will not be disappointed. Cabin 12 was a fast paced book.

This author’s writing keeps getting better and better, and that’s saying a lot since I proclaim every book is her best yet.

This story centers on Bella, the EMT sister of Damian from Keeping 6, and Jasper, one of his teammates. Their first meeting was less than stellar and misconceptions were formed. Bella assumes Jasper is a playboy and he, in turn, thinks she’s a spoiled princess. Nothing could be further from the truth.

When Damian and his new bride go away for their honeymoon, he tasks his employee with keeping a watchful eye on his sister. This does not bode well for Jasper as Bella’s independence is of the utmost importance, stemming from being the youngest in an overbearing, yet extremely loving, family.

However, Jasper’s charge is not as challenging as first assumed when the suspense kicks in. In true Freya Barker fashion, you never know what to expect. Insignificant details presented earlier become noteworthy. Those facts twine together. They twist and turn, and help us discover more layers to this wonderful couple as their environment changes.

Ms Barker is not afraid of tackling real-life issues such as harassment and depression. She doesn’t shy away from demonstrating fault with her characters. If anything, this makes them more human and appealing to the reader. The strength they possess to overcome obstacles gives us hope that we too can prevail.
