The banner for this book was in my line of sight all day and after I'd done my PA duties I ventured over to ask about the book.
The blurb pretty much explains the story, and I bought it and started reading it the next week.
It was a story that Mark Twain Quotes

This book really was a look into a life I couldn't imagine, but once I got to know Sophia as a character, I could understand how perfectly logical her plan was. The book was a story that had me wondering what would happen next when I wasn't reading and to me that makes it a 5 star read. Now I've had a lot of misses with narrated books, as some voices either lose me or send me to sleep. BUT this was one of the good ones, the two narrators were easy to listen to and they hooked me into the story so much I basically listened to 89%of the book yesterday. Sunday was spent doing chores while my imagination disappeared into Dynassy (weird name, I was glad that it was an audible read so I knew how to pronounce it) and Bridger's (another unusual name) story. At the beginning of the story I thought that this was going to be a full on erotica story, but in actual fact it was a a really good relationship story based around the sexual attraction, but the act was much later in the story... Now I can't divulge why it is a slow burn, and it's definitely a erotica book, it's just one of those few books where there's an actual story rather than sexual acts described in scenarios. Thank goodness as I'm not really interested in listening or reading porn 😉 I've really enjoyed the book. And I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a sexy narrated book with substance. I couldn't help compare the Barnes Family to the Kardashians tho, not that I actually watch reality TV... I'm a sci-fi girl through and through and I am going check out the other books soon....more

Zara has always ‘done the right thing’ her new job is on the line, and when a painting appears that cast’s doubt on her father and therefore her integrity, Tobias is there to help… Will Zara give into her heart or listen to her head? The Author takes you on a tumultuous journey into the art world where the Mega rich will do anything to own a priceless piece of art. We learn more about why ICON is selective in his targets, and I couldn’t help but route for him, and hoped that Zara would listen to her heart. I was ‘googling ‘ pictures as they were described in the book, as the descriptive writing intrigued me to actually see if I could see what Zara saw in each painting. It was fun, and that’s the one benefit of an e-book… I know I could just type it into a search engine if I was reading a paperback… but I am lazy sometimes and it’s just a click of a finger on my kindle! There is more action in this book, and the storyline keeps you glued to the pages, I dived into book 3 as soon as I finished. I really enjoyed the book and I think I will miss these characters when I have finished.

I enjoyed it, I'd have probably enjoyed it more I'd read the series from the start, as this is book 4. I didn't have can issue jumping in half way through a series, they are obviously written as standalone books. But I didn't really connect with Riley, or understand the relationship dynamics as much and I think this hindered me getting into the characters. it was overall an enjoyable read, very slow to start. got better in the latter stages. the hotness factor was fairly low, considering the take in Rileys relationship choices, and the werewolf free love take.
In closing, I would read another, but I'll check out book one first so I can get to know Riley properly.....more

All I'll say is that Millen and Kenzie road to happiness is paved with a few pot holes.
Kenzie is a tough cookie who having grown up on a broken home, and this has given her a few ground rules when it came to dating.
No dating taken men, shes cautious, makes a man prove his worth before letting him in.
Sounds like a plan doesn't it, well it is, if the blokes honest. Kenzie thought Millen was it, but when after she lets him into her heart, he disappears never to be heard of again, she shuts off her broken heart and tries to carry on, only to have him walk into her bar 3months later with a fiancee who happened to be Kenzies
Millen... what a cad you are thinking, well..Maybe, or is he one of those rare men, one with an old fashioned sense of family commitment and responsibilities? Well I'll let you read the book yourself to find out.
All I'll say is that theres reasons for Millen leaving Kenzie in the lurch, maybe the wrong reasons, but they we're understandable.
The supporting characters are interesting also and I'll be wanting to read book two when its out.
This book has an epilogue, so remember to flip to the next page, rather than leaving it at "the end", this was the only thing I had an issue with, as it could lead to the reader missing part of the story.

An ok shifter story, there wasn't really anything new in the trope, and maybe thats why I think it dragged a bit for me. The writing style was good, but it just didn't make me want to keep reading like the first story. I put it down until I had nothing else nearby to read. I have given the anthology an overall score of 4 stars but this was mainly due to my enjoyment of the first book.

I wasn't going to start the book straight away, but I needed to escape into fantasy land after reviewing a non-fiction book, and I didn't put it down. I've only read one or two mermaids, book's and the cover drew me to sign up to review it, and I was hooked with the first chapter.
Verona's status in life is not really explained in detail but she has had a rough life and has the scars to prove it, the life in a Mer Clan is Caste based and she is a 'bottom feeder. Abused and cast out to fend for herself for a year, she has lived in a small island bay, watching the humans as she tries to survive.
One night she saves the life of Logan, who has just returned to the island with his grandma (Mama Wend), she inadvertently beaches herself and ends up with legs... when she is taken in by Mama Wend and Logan, who think she is is a runaway, she explores life as a human, but Verona has till the next full moon to decide if she stays in the world of humans or return home to a life of scorn.
When danger comes to the sleepy town, Supernaturals who want to capture Verona for her life blood, putting Logan and the other townsfolk in danger, Verona has to rely on her faith in her strength to resist their spells.
The book has lots of avenues to explore, the Caste system in the Mer people using twists in the truth to use the weaker merfolk to do their bidding hopefully will be explored more in book 2. Verona's experience with living with the humans shows her that everything she was told by the Mer's is biased to their advantage, but with the threat of being an attractive ingredient to the witches who exist, Verona, is also worried for Her new friends safety.
Verona and Logan have a connection, will she stay with him or go back to being derided by her people?
There is a prequel that I am going to check out, to see if it gives more information on Verona's life before her 'Reckoning' began.
It's an enjoyable story which will lead into the next book and hopefully more about the Mer and the Humans who have become family to Verona. ...more
this review is my honest opinion and I have not received anything for this review...
how do I feel after finishing? Disappointed, I guess, but one of tthis review is my honest opinion and I have not received anything for this review...
how do I feel after finishing? Disappointed, I guess, but one of the requests from the author for reviews was for non spoiler review, which as you know I don't like either, but unfortunately most of the issues that I found with this book, and trying to explain would probably contain spoilers. So I'm going to try explain why this book never connected with me without spoiling it for readers who want to read this.
The biggest part is that the author starts this book off in the pov of Detective Mark Colby's girlfriend Amber... yet she's not mentioned in the blurb? I don't like triangle books, I'd have probably passed this book if I knew this.
Also the author choosing to write from Ambers pov from the outset had me investing in her as the main character in the book. So I attribute this as the main factor in why I never connected with Mark or Toni. Mark also comes across as selfish from Ambers pov, and this stuck with me throughout the book.
I think if the book had started off with Detective Antonia Rossi starting at her new job, with her pov of being attracted to her partner, playing on the fact that her dad's a big cheese in the NYPD, but I feel this hasn't been explored as well as it could have been, maybe would have enjoyed it more. but the authors got too many characters, and threads of other characters interwoven with the story that it felt disjointed and hard to get emotionally attached to any character, there's scenes in this book that were random and not explored further.
Amber is removed from the storyline then brought back in to close off this avenue, but it's abruptly and clinched. Finally the ending sucked. I won't go into details but it felt rushed, and left me really confused about the epilogue... which was about another character introduced in a scene... I guess leading to the next book... but none of the characters i.e. Toni or Mark are mentioned! I am not one to pull books down. but from starting out with a story that had me investing in a character to then go off in a completely different tangent with other characters is confusing and disjointed. The point in the blurb where it talks of duty or desires and crashes of wills was not really much of an experience either, just cliche and predictable, to be honest I feel this book was more crash and burn for me. I've given it a 3 star but that's mostly based on my initial reaction to the book. and Ambers story, and Toni as a character as herself. the storyline probably reads better if you have read the other 5 books... But for me I'm sorry it's a crash and burn in a negative way. I won't be trying again....more
The storyline is a second chance romance for both the lead characters.
Gwen has moved to Cat's Valley after the I give this book a good solid 4 stars.
The storyline is a second chance romance for both the lead characters.
Gwen has moved to Cat's Valley after the tragic death of her husband and childhood sweetheart, his death has caused her daughter to go mute, except for her prayers each night to God, which gives the book its title: Her whispered prayers break her... Gwen's young son Daniel has to deal with losing his dad, and his sister turning from a big sister who played with him to the quiet girl who spends all her time doing crosswords or studying.
The emotional content is a lot to take but although it is a sad set of circumstances the author has not made it too morose.
One day Gwen meets Alexander, the recluse who lives out of town, his tale is more tragic than Gwen's as at least she has her children to keep her going.
'Scars mar his body. Pain has left him in pieces…'
- this is an apt description and who wouldn't feel like this if they lost everything they loved in one night
Once snowy afternoon change's everything for both of them. Gwen and the kids need his help, and the snowstorm that follows brings Alexander a choice... to continue to live in the grip of his pain or to look forward and give Gwen and the kids a chance.
So the story was, on the one hand, predictable, but only in the sense of that, the storyline runs true to the second chance genre trope. But the emotional content is there, you can't help to get swept up in both characters pain and emotional journey towards starting again.
Overall I enjoyed the story, the writing is good, as I said the author created some very emotional moments, there is the HEA I wanted for the pair.
I must say when Alexander's tragedy is told I was choked up at the thought of having to live with that, and the scene of the anniversary of their death had me reading with a lump in my throat. BUT I wasn't a mess reading it, which I was surprised, or maybe because I knew both were going to have sad stories to tell that prepared me to be stronger? I am not sure, but I was surprised that I didn't cry more.
Although I knew that the story needed a 'shock moment' to jump start the ending of the story it was a tad predictable for me. And I am left wondering what happened to Pepper the dog?
And this is purely my personal opinion, the sex scenes - I wish they had been less descriptive. I appreciated that the pair had been alone for a while and when they finally got hot and bothered, the scene was appropriate but when they 'did the deed' it was just a tad over done. I guess this is why I prefer Young Adult as I can use my imagination.
I enjoyed reading this book and I will check out more of the author's books in the future.
If you want a book that will give you all the emotions you want in a read without making you into a bag of snot I think this book will be a sure fire choice.

Will accepting a date with him help her cause?
My thoughts: Sweet, funny and very entertaining. Dare can rescue me any day, and thankfully I can help him out in his phobia department too.
Crazy by Kolleen Fraser The only thing Kat Winston fears more than Australia is love. She's about to get a crash course in both.
My thoughts: This was a humorous trip across Australia, Kat (always like the characters that are named Kat, She was a crazy older sister who ends up finding romance on her mission to drag her sister home. Although l laughed at the traffic cop scene, I think that the NSW cops must have a better sense of humour than the sunny coast ones, as the ones who stopped me hadn't got one.
Finding Love Down Under by S. Hartley Aspiring author Dylan Phillips travels all the way to Australia to start the next chapter of her life. Neither she nor sexy Aussie pub owner Ian King are searching for love, but that is exactly what they find.
My thoughts: An easy story to get lost in, Dylan let fate lead her on a new path, at the toss of a coin she ended up with an Aussie hunk rather than an Irish one, it flowed well and for once a few dates were had before they do the deed.
Upside Down, Back to Front by Megan Lowe To Vermont native Georgia, Australia is a little back to front. Then she meets Sam and he turns her already back-to-front world upside down.
My thoughts:A funny reminder of my time living in Queensland, the author got the humour just right.
Pineapple Dreams by Aria Peyton On the first real holiday she's ever had with her teenage twin girls, all Belle expects is sun, sea, and to see all Australia's “big” things. The last thing she anticipates is finding love in a giant pineapple.
My thoughts: I enjoyed this story. Not only because it was set mostly in Woombye which was near to where I lived in 2015, but the way the relationship was written was believable, yes young men can desire older women, and although I never do like authors constantly mentioning a woman's bodily differences to the media accepted stick size 0, the insecurities Belle had were from being inexperienced, not overweight.
Playing for Keeps by Gen Ryan Pro rugby player Mason James St. Patrick is known not only for his skills on the field but in the bedroom. When PR rep Delaney Matthews is hired to clean up his image, will she be able to resist his charms or will she fall for the type of man she swore she never would?
My thoughts: AN ok story, I think it was hindered it from being a good story due to the size restraints of a novella. The relationship was accelerated, the ending was a bit rushed, I didn't get the authors vision of Delaney, in that if a 28 yr old hadn't traded in her v card she'd not be as quick to fall for Mason...more

Kate was easy to like, she has a heart but she can also look after herself, the scene in the hospital was a good example of how Sheila Kell has made her heroines tough enough to handle a situation, but at the same time need someone to care for them. When I saw this book on my list of books to choose to review, I immediately was drawn by the cover, it's lovely but also shows the wildness of the NZ coastline and when I read the blurb it was a definite Yes for me to request, as not 6 days before I had spent an afternoon at the Dunedin Early Settlers Museum ( going off track a bit but if you ever visit Dunedin this is a Free admittance and an excellent place to visit )
historical fiction is not a top genre for me to choose, but if the blurb draws me in I will read it, you see I am fussy when it comes to the books based in the past, there has to be some life in the story, the characters have to be relatable to me. Well Deborah Challinor hit the nail on the head.
Not only did the characters feel real, but the storyline was both familiar but also educated me at the same time.
Now the "rough and ready crew" of the schooner Katipo III were a mix of ethnicities and I knew that there were 3 other books in the 'series' of the Smugglers Wife Series But this did not make reading this book confusing, it just made me want to find the others and schedule them to read at some point.
We have the initial request for help from an old friend Wong Fu who must be introduced in a previous book, and we find out he is more than just a pan-handler, he is in fact, a Tong Master, hence the title of the book , he is the Cloud Leopard and his daughter, Bao, has been kidnapped and taken to opium-ridden China. ( now I learned a lot about the opium trade reading this book!)
With the rest of the crew, Kitty and Rian set sail to find Bao, but it will not be easy, with unscrupulous relatives trying to hinder the rescue and pirates on the seas and most of all Jealousy in the midst of what is perceived as a happy family aboard the Katipo lead us on a very unpredictable adventure.
The Cloud's Leopard's Daughter kept me reading late into Friday night, all of Saturday afternoon and evening.
if you like books that bring you a sense of adventure, and a glimpse of the past ( and thankfully NZ has indoor plumbing now) then grab a copy.

I have not read a book by this author before but the blurb sounded like it could be a nice but interesting romance.
With our Main Male Character, Max Reid, being a Billionaire that has been focused on one thing - being the best and therefore proving a point to his father who left without a backwards glance when he was a kid, he is a typical Billionaire, and the only person who has any sway is his ailing mother, her dying wish was for him to listen to his heart, that giving money was not enough, he had to give some of himself too
“Give from your heart, not your wallet.” I guess this is a valid point to listen too, as yes we can give money to charity, but if we give of ourselves wouldn't that be better? So I enjoyed Max's journey as he discovers that there is more to this world than being the Best and having millions in the bank.
Emilia Vitalia Young, the girl-next-door who believes happiness comes from putting others first. But she finds it very hard to keep that mission statement since the tragedy that struck her family. With an unsympathetic Fiancee who leaves her reeling with the news that he is not sure that he wants to marry her after all, she sets off to Vietnam to help out at an orphanage there.
With her focus on keeping her family’s tradition of 'Giving' alive. She sets off to Vietnam to help at one of the Orphanages there and try and figure out what she will do with her life when she gets back to the States.
When Max also trying to keep his promise to his mother signs up to help at the same Orphanage, the pair meet and the result changes the course of both their lives.
OK - here are my thoughts:
My favourite part of the book were the parts in Vietnam, and I guess the author being from there may be the reason why this part felt more alive.
My Least favourite part - was the drama that transpired when the pair get back to the states. - it was too predictable, as in that the pair couldn't just have a happy ending - no there had to be more drama and intrigue added.
I feel that the plot could have been tighter, the storyline seemed to drag quite a lot at the beginning and I nearly stopped reading. But I kept going and, in the end, I am glad I pushed myself to the end.
The Characters - I liked Emilia but I couldn't understand why she stayed with her fiancee so long until I got to a point in the book, then I realised why the author pushed it on for so long.
Max, his character did not gel properly for me, he was at some points a dominant alpha, wanting Emilia to submit to him, then he would swing to being soft and gentle. His character felt like the author was trying too hard to make him too much of a FSOG Mr Grey!
We were introduced to other couples in the story that to me could have been halved - unless they will be the main characters in a spin-off book? This is where for me I feel that these extra characters could have been tightened up to make the story flow better.
The Epilogue that tied up ends seemed rushed, and also tried to tie up too many loose ends, but then introduced Max meeting someone that was left open and not really concluded, and left me feeling that it had either been thrown in as a quick closure or that it was left like that so that if the author wished there may be another book in the future with these characters.
We had a bit of Suspense and drama thrown into the plot with the help of the Ex's (that was the predictable part, i just saw it coming from a mile away)
I think I would have preferred to have had more of the 'Orphanage' and less of the trivial States scenes as in my opinion the characters at the orphanage were more interesting and I wanted to know what happened to them more than what went on with one of Emilia's friend's.

But when the cost of international shipping is as expensive as it is I have no choice), so I have a TBR of Paperbacks to read and redistribute to other book lovers before I move again! SO I mistakenly read DEMON first OOPS!!! I should have googled the reading order (it’s not made clear in the paperback) but other than knowing the fate of one of the characters in Book 1 it didn’t make much difference to my reading pleasure, but I would recommend you read BOOK 1 Raziel first!) This book is told in dual POV, and its not chapter by chapter, the indication of the switch is with the first few words of the first line in the paragraph being capitalized. This wasn’t a problem for me, and I could tell the switch by the personality of the characters changing too. I really like how the Author has managed to create such dimensional characters as she wrote these stories, The Angels come across so Unemotional, Above human frailties after eons of existence, but that they are also loveable…I mean the Author wants us readers to ‘want’ her characters as our ‘book boyfriends’ afterall. I liked Allie from the start, she was a character I could relate too, and when destiny happens and she meets Raziel, I smiled at her thoughts, actions and general ‘go with the flow’ attitude that she had when her world tipped upside down. Raziel - well he is a bit of a unfeeling Fallen Angel, stubborn as Allie, and he was sure slow at dealing with the reasons of why he rescued Allie from hellfire against Uriel’s orders. I enjoyed being along for the ride as they deal with the realities of their meeting. As they begin to deal with their personal issues there is also the situation that the Fallen are facing from wrath brought by Raziel’s disobedience, and unfortunately the rest of the Fallen blame Allie for the ferocious Nephilim (Ms Douglas has an entirely different vision from mine of what a Nephilim is, they are still a mysterious evil foot soldier for Uriel by the end of Book 2 also) clawing at the kingdom’s shrouded gates. By the end of the book, Allie and Raziel have to deal with both their feelings and the safety of the rest of the Fallen and their wives. As I said, I knew the outcome of this book before I started, but I enjoyed it because I got to know the rest of the characters that are part of the Fallen Angels and I will be searching out Book 3 in my local library when I finally move in August.
