I'm not a fan of the zombie apocalypse type genre, nor TV like the walking dead. (So if you are hoping for dark gritty horror, this is not for you).
but I like the the way Kylie Scott has written this from the start, makes it feel like this could be possible, (well we've already been through Covid, God help us if we do get something worse).
But, I was hooked from the first chapter.
Dean - good choice of name, my mind conjures up a cross between Dean Winchester ( I may say I don't like zombies, but I am definitely a paranormal fan) and a combination of my favorite military alpha males, honourable, but willing to do what needs to be done to save someone.
Astrid - l like her character, she's the average girl next door - but I read her as being way younger than the age she's actually in the book (but she's easy to relate to, kept herself to herself, but had a life she enjoyed) the first actual encounter with Dean was such a great read)
The story is quite fast paced, it doesn't linger on the nitty gritty of the situation, but it does make you think about what you would do if heaven forbid the world doe turn to crap.
Overall I enjoyed the book, it's been the first book this year that kept me up reading till 3am!...more

I really loved diving back into Blair Babylons Billionaires world for this final (maybe) book in the runaway princess series. Flicka was one of my favourite characters.
Dieter was one character that has intrigued me since I started reading these books.
The road that Flicka has been travelling on has been one heck of a rough one for a princess, but she has a strong backbone and she survived, grew stronger and took care of baby Alina, oh there were moments when I ached for Alina and Flicka, I cried for that little child.
But don't fret, Deiter is on his way to rescue Flicka, and nothing or no one was getting in his way.
This book is a page turner (they all were to be honest) I thought about them when I couldnt read, stayed up longer just to get in 30 mnutes of me time to read this book, breakfast and lunch too.
I wasn't disappointed, I LOVE the ending, and can't wait for Max's story - now that is going to be one heck of a book - he is such a mystery!!!!...more

I pre-ordered this book as soon as I heard it was coming out...I wasn't disappointed This is the start of Flicker's story and it was great to see it from her perspective as we travel through the events of not only her wedding but also Wulf and Raes wedding and all the bits in between. Ms Babylon has done a great job at keeping readers in the dark to whom Flicker has had romantic liaisons with and I am not spiling it either... BUT I am eager for book 2 and will be Pre-ordering it ready for MAY omg its too long!!! I swooned, broke, got mad, cried and sighed when I got to the last page. I had a really painful hand injury that kept me awake so I literally did not stop reading till it was finished LOL Yes, this is going on the Top reads List for this year - I just need the rest of the books ASAP!!! PS no bad cliffys in the book, but you will be waiting in anticipation for May and the next instalment....more

I will recommend the book to all who listen, so Grab your copy now and get sucked into this fantastic fictional world of Royalty This is going to be a vague review as I do not want to add anything to spoil it. I read this book at every opportunity and each page had me wondering if they would make it without that (insert your word for hidious ex here - mines not printable lol) Dieter has always been my fave of the side characters in these books and Flicka was too so when they got together it was my nirvana and I think I will be keeping this series as my all time Blair favourites. Now this story is hotting up and when you get to the end of this book these characters will have engrained themselves on your heart, omg I can't wait for the next book. Roll on July!

I was lucky that a few months later there was a promotion for the next book in the series - The Prize. So I am reviewing this book in advance for that release. I enjoyed this book, the intrigue, suspense and also the romance. Our main character Zara first love is Art, the history, the uniqueness of each artist, and the way each painting is seen by the individual. I really got how she viewed art so it was easy to get into the book and follow Zara as she entered the exclusive job at one of London’s top art investigation firms, Zara's talent for seeing deep into paintings means that she ends up on the team that is helping the police hunt for 'Icon', the mysterious international art thief, he seems to be methodical, daring and selective in his heists, which in turn is baffling the authorities, but as.Zara delves deeper into the case, her personal life becomes more complicated also with the tragedy of her past coming to haunt her as she begins to make a future for herself doing something she loves. When she meets Tobias Wilder, a billionaire who needs her expertise and her discretion. Wilder is an Alpha Male, used to having everything his way, but the sparks fly between them, as their relationship develops Zara can't help surrendering to the way he makes her feel, but will the secrets that Tobias is hiding kill the budding relationship? and the other question is... Who is Icon? Well I know now, you will just have to read the book to find you yourself. *** This review is my honest opinion, I have not received any compensation for reviewing it, it's just my thoughts after reading and I hope you found my thoughts useful***

Samantha, (Sam) psychic abilities are strong, the physical manifestations really take a toll on her, but shes determined to use this curse for the better, helping Brandt is the first step to regaining control. Aliana and Hunter, wow! This book resonated with me for two reasons, bullying and Alzheimer's. I've been in Aliana's shoes and my man helped me rise from the consequences just as Hunter did her. As to the Alzheimer's, thankfully my mum's not as bad, she knows who I am. Long may it last. I appreciate the realism Ms. O'Leary has used in those scenes involving Aliana's mum. The romance blossoms and barriers are released as Hunter battles for her heart as well as keeping her and those close to Aliana safe. There's plenty of suspense as well as romance. The book is centred in Hunter's home turf the streets of L.A. no missions in this book but we get some extra SEALS come help out, including a new character who is introduced in this book... I want to know more about "Zed" my favourite part...SEALS and a local book club. Awesome combination for lol chapter Well done for another page turning book Ms. O'Leary....more

I have books 1 to 3 in this series they have sat on my bookshelf waiting to be read, but life got in the way and I haven't had the chance. BUT I will be grabbing them to read once I get to the UK!
Book 4 I have read as the first and I had no problems with doing that, this is a sign of a good author. Kate McCarthy has created the story with enough depth that I felt no qualms about jumping in at book 4. Mac is the younger sister of 3 very over protective brothers and parents that want to wrap her in cotton wool, and turn her into a propper lady... but that is never going to happen as Mackenzie Valentine is wilful, fiery, and determined to prove she doesn’t need anyone.
As a child she met Jake Romero and he left a lasting impression on her young heart.
By the time she is 17 she is fed up of her over-protective family so she runs away to find Jake.
When Jake first met Mac he was a traumatised boy and after years in the foster system he was thrown into circumstances that led him down a path that leads to notorious gang, the King Street Boys.
Fate and a dusty road throw the pair together, but Jake realises that his life is not the best place for Mac, and he breaks her heart by contacting her brothers, this one action leads to an event that Mac will never get over.
Fate is determined to bring them together again, but will the pair be able to find the right path to love?
Well I will let you find out.
What I will say is that it is a very tough road for both of them but love can conquer all if you give it a chance.
I enjoyed this book very much, I cried in parts, laughed a lot at Mac's Sassy attitude and as I said at the beginning, eager to read the other books as soon as I can...more

BUT Wow, once I started I couldn't put it down.
Now I know the place the book is set in places I have visited/lived (the Hamilton part anyway) but the writing and the worldbuilding was so good I felt as if I was sat on that balcony feeling the peacefulness described (the Lake was a favourite spot to visit and walk around).
The horse related parts also showed that Ms Bowes does indeed know her #EquineStuff, and I loved how she brought the wild Kaimanawa horse's into the story.
I finished this rural romance today, after reading long into the wee hours of the morning to a place I felt I would be able to sleep and not think where the story was heading.
Ms Bowes wrote a story that had me in the dark to who the father of 'Leilah's child was until the very end, in fact she put so many believable red herrings in that I had to go back a few pages to make sure I had not missed anything.
So well done for keeping me glued to my kindle all day and all last night.
A very real story, that highlights the reality of the struggles women go through to walk away from an abusive relationship.
My favorite character is Mari, her description is the double of my 'Whaea' (mother, aunt, aunty) I recommended this book to mine as I am sure she would enjoy this New Zealand themed book, lol even my new home 'Southland' is mentioned.
The only downside to the story is that there isn't a glossary in the book. the Kindle app dictionary doesn't do Maori unfortunately - so any readers who want to know what the words mean when you come to them, as long as you have Wifi/the Internet, then click SEARCH and Google will find this Dictionary, which has the added bonus of sound - I have and never will be able to speak the language properly it's a hard one to learn) - and its not really a downside - but I found it hard as I wanted to know and I didn't have any internet to search.
One part of the story reminded me of an actual event that happened while I lived there, I wondered if this was the inspiration for part of the events that happened.

I will say this was a hard book to read in one sitting, I had to take breaks at certain points because my heart and throat and eyes couldn't take it. Even as I neared the end, I had to go do something else as I was crying so hard I couldn't see my kindle! and I will say the warning is correct, this is NOT a romance, it's like reading an episode of Criminal Minds, the tension, stress of the investigation came over strongly in Ms. Leigh's writing.
I have been a fan of T.K. Leigh since I met her in 2015, I bought her Beautiful mess series at the Readers and Writers Down Under Signing, at the recommendation of a facebook friend, Shaneen introduced us and T.K. was such a lovely person, very supportive and free with her advice for new authors. I am sad to admit that those books are still unread on my bookshelf! WELL NO MORE, I am making time to read them this month (Somehow) #bloggerproblems! (very carefully so not to spoil the books, I really hate opening my signed books to read) #Bookaholic
So I read this book blind, with no knowledge of the series. I think I am glad in a way because I went in with no preconceived ideas on what to expect.
At first I was thinking it would be a 3 - 4 star as I had a bit of a hard time relating to Rayne, I couldn't understand how she had gotten so lost, that she would consider something so heinous. Even when I learned about why she was so low I couldn't understand how she thought that Alex Burnham deserved what she was planning to do. As I read on I got more involved, the story started to give me my answers, but also would give me more puzzles to ponder.
I may have taken breaks from reading to do other things, but my mind was constantly trying to work out what was going on, what would come next and whether Melanie would survive.
By 61% I was hooked, by the complexity of the plot and as the clues for Melanie's kidnapping were revealed the tension mounted.
As Alex and the Authorities try to piece together the clues to who has taken Melanie, Alex's life and those around him are put under the microscope.
TK has done a very good job at expressing the anguish, the neverending torment of questions a parent would ask themselves if dealing with this situation.
I lost my youngest in a shopping centre when he was 6 years old, he was found 15 minutes later, but the agony of not knowing, the rampaging thoughts of what may have happened, my heart was so painful and to this day it's as fresh in my mind and it was 20 years ago.
This remembered pain, well it came back in spades reading this book, I had a lump in my throat, at times tears, and a sense of anguish, as events unfolded.
This is a good book, but its dark, its tragic, but compelling and the emotions that come across the pages feels so real, you would think it was based on experience (god forbid).
But I guess that becoming a mother herself was all that the author needed to channel the emotion she would need to write this book. This book encompasses every parent's nightmare. All I could think while reading this book was how I would cope in Olivia's shoes. I tend to immerse myself into a story so, as I said and even now when writing this review I was getting choked up.
I could write more, but I don't want to put too much in the review, I recommend you grab a copy and read it yourself (With tissues at hand).

So when Beth was first introduced to the reader we know that eventually the storyline of how Beth and Jack get together will be revealed, and I wasn't disappointed. Beth is traumatized she can't bare to be touched, which Jack the SEAL seconded to #Midnightdelta team would love to do. he's determination to keep her safe was strong. The attraction and the feelings that emerge from Beth as Jack slowly breaks down the walls Beth built up after the terrible things that the Guzmans did to her showed that Jack is #midnightdelta material. loyal, tough and with a heart big enough to fight the monsters for Beth. Beth can't relax, she is stuck in a waiting game for her father's trial, with people gunning for the pair, it creates what was a tense story, but in the end, Jack and Beth see light at the end of the tunnel, just as long as they keep a step ahead of the Guzmans lackeys....more
