TheMy first reaction after the last page makes me question myself. “Aww that was cute” is NOT a good representation of this book. The ending is cute. They were well matched for each other though which made their dynamics explosive. The spiciness is off the charts. I was glued to every page. Definitely a huge part of this is non-con, some dub-con as time moves on but eventually things just fall into place. With the length of this story, it wouldn’t have hurt to add in the shady things that were only mentioned. All the things he did behind the scenes to get her and for her should have happened on page. And since this is considered semi-dark the shadiness could have been made brutal and I not blinked an eye. Calvin is actually way more tame considering everything he does when it comes to Hallie. ...more

Although I really need these authors to understand what a dark read is because this is not dark, definitely pushes the limits into a grey area though. Damyr was a bit of a lovable douche. He had the usual temperament that comes with a vampire of a certain age and carried himself as he should. He was the boss and it was portrayed well by himself and those around him. From the beginning I knew he wasn’t going to let Benji go. As soon as he said he felt something I knew. I didn’t think it would be a fated mate story but boom surprise. I love how it didn’t take the usual road of the human not feeling the connection. That just makes things more complicated can between them things didn’t need any more complications. Benji was a little spitfire. He never backed down, no matter how stupid it seemed to do so. But in the end it made everyone respect or at least not worry about his presence. Now the mob aspect was unnecessary but I get why it’s there. It added to the true level of destruction when the time came. Even though now I just wonder what happened with all that because it wasn’t mentioned in the aftermath. The main event was quite interesting to try to piece together and I completely got it wrong. I never would have guessed who it was and exactly why. The puzzle slowly comes together but trust you won’t get it until he reveals himself and then it’s like “but why?” ...more

I can’t pinpoint exactly why I didn’t like either Mc but I didn’t. They didn’t belong together at all. So much about them was skipped over so it made it hard to grasp why they even came back together. And what happened to Mike when Danny left? I hate when important information is continuously implied as if I was there to see it. ...more

Mind you, i started this off wrong. Just picked a random book on my self without realizing i was starting dead in the middle of a conflict with no understanding of what was happening. However somehow in these short pages i was caught up to speed pretty quickly and don’t feel like i was thrown to the wolves. I think i will try to get the rest so i can start from the beginning. I need to understand what this thing with Kent is and understand why what happened was happening. Plus what was up with the whole training thing. Yeah i missed a lot. But with the few context clues laying around i made it through this pretty easy with only the thought that i have to start over. Now i want to read them all. ...more

I originally picked this up because I assumed it would be a steamy shifter Mpreg but no that was so not the case. I’m quite surprised that the storyline caught and held my attention. The characters are all so likable and relatable. Mayhem might be my favorite and it’s mainly because he’s a funny asshole, his dynamic with Venom is hilarious and sweet. They are definitely family. Kurt was also surprisingly well written. I love that effort was put into the main characters and their roles weren’t misunderstood. OAN: it’s not incredibly spicy but the story makes up for that. ...more

Leo was so gullible and downright slow for someone who grew up in the environment he was currently trapped in. Yeah he managed to escape for a time but he should have still known better. Nolan had decent intentions but was just as manipulative as the rest. My biggest issue is that there are a lot of things “implied” that would have really set the story up for success. So much drama summed up in a sentence that could have added another level of flair. And when the climax finally came it was over too quickly. ...more

The whole kidnap/experimentation issue is just skipped over but then brought up constantly like it’s gonna be a big thing. I would have loved a full chapter or two of what actually happened to him. Hell those dreams could have been flashbacks of that instead of useless George stuff. I’m disappointed in how his character was written. And he was my favorite. I’m supposed to believe he went in fully functioning but came out the way he did bbuuuuttt with a fully functioning mental capacity. We should have never had his point of view because his thoughts made his condition so much more wrong. Ok ok just the speech thing. It bugged me that he could string together full intellectual thoughts and could only speak like a cave man learning to talk. Coming from Anna I don’t see why the kidnapping was skipped anyways. She writes pretty brutal stuff sometimes. Olson on the other hand just came off wanton and lonely. He craved his past alpha and somehow got him back. No matter how Rex came I believe Olson was gonna take him in. ...more

The story just seems super cheesy and I can’t pinpoint exactly why. I think it’s the characters and how they’re written. They feel unrealistic in the personality or something. I don’t know but it feels off. The plot was interesting and was like a lot of superhero love stories. That was pleasant. The spice wasn’t spicy at all and didn’t take up much space. This short novel spanned I think the space of a year in no time and the connection between the characters never changed or seemed to give off that fated mate vibe. OMG that’s it … I didn’t get the mate feeling. They had a zing and that was pretty much it. Other than thinking of each other often. I have read a lot of beautifully consuming fated mate stories and this fell so short of what I expect. ...more

Sebian was weird to me. Never seen a person get over life long hate that fast. Like with a few minutes of meeting. Crazy. I didn’t like Galantia. Cause why! She didn’t fit. One minute pushing back and another melting in submission. Ugh she also was RAISED to hate them even though I get why she started to think otherwise, she was just naive. It was quick and easy to get through. Kind of always waiting for the shoe to drop. However, when it dropped it didn’t make a sound. It was so anticlimactic, over in a page or two. I definitely expected more seeing that the rivals “seemed” to be after Ava in the first place. I would have actually loved for the story to be fuller. So much is missing. It should’ve had a chapter or two of the past, a little of Links stalker phase and then the rescue. This storyline has so much potential to be more. Hell it could’ve been a 3 part serial. The main thing I didn’t like was to lack of truthful communication between the mc’s because they didn’t have to be so at odds. Link could’ve still been his Devil self and still spoke all the things that went through his head. Ava would’ve melted like butter. They both were still hung up on each other so once she got over the man he has become life should’ve just fell into place. There was a huge actual love story missed here. Ava was slightly dim. Not the most interesting of characters. She was definitely not strong enough, in my opinion, to be with the devil. She spooked to easy to want to have her nose in everything, to want to be “known” since she was technically a secret for so long. ...more

I was battling between a 3 and 4 star rating. The story line itself was great. It took me on the wildest mind fuck I’ve been on in a long while. Sort of like a Lily White novel, and if you know then yeah. HOWEVER, this is definitely smut. Sometimes less is appreciated. The plot was so thick that the amount of sex was quite unnecessary and took away from the seriousness of what was happening. For that I struggled to give a rating. It’s crazy that somehow this book treads that very fine line of what’s acceptable and the Mc’s never became unlikable. I fucking loved Sin in all his mental anguish. This dude was definitely a bleeding heart that was raised as a devil. Unapologetically him. Now Elli did get on my nerves sometimes. I have a hard time dealing with people who are forever a victim, mentally and physically with no will to fight back. She never grew a spine until that one instance and then poof spine disappears again. I swear Sin deserved so much more than her. ...more

I fully intended to rate this 4 stars but about 75% through I started losing interest and definitely skipped and skimmed through some just to get finished. I guess what held my attention so long was the tension between the mc’s. I found it quite cute. And I really liked Carlisle and Jade. Hell even Haiden starts to grow on you once you realize he has a tiny backbone and he’s not completely a doormat. Not a bad read at all. I just wish that the obvious occurrence that happened would have been bigger. In the sense that it came and went too quickly. I got a little black soul so I just be looking for that extra boundary push and this totally missed the opportunity. Now granted poor Haiden didn’t need more trauma but it was set up so perfectly and fell flat. Even still I’m excited to start the next book.
