Puss in Boots comic - pilot issues

In his The complete catalogue of British comics (page 188) Denis Gifford notes the following about a title call Puss In Boots

1969 pilot issue, 24 pages
1970 pilot issue, 24 pages
different editions of this unpublished comic

Here's what those comics looked like. They were up for auction recently here

1969 pilot issue

1970 pilot issue
The most obvious difference between the two issues is the pattern on the giant wall picture.

JNPs - an incomplete list

Following on from my post the other day about Nutty / Krazy (here) it occurred to me that a list of Juvenile New Projects would be a good idea / fruitless project! So far it's a pretty short list but stuff will get added to the list over time I'm sure.

So far we know about...

13). 2000AD - here's a page from MACH1 - you can see the JNP coding in the bottom right hand corner of the page

41). Here's Nutty / Krazy

55). Captain Britain

69). On page 105 of 'Cover story - the 2000AD design of Robin Smith' Robin notes that JNP69 was the code for Zarjaz comic. This was to be a 2000AD spin-off title.

any help filling in any of the gaps in between would be much appreciated!

Dez Skinn has pointed out that JNP55 [Captain Britain] pre-dated 2000AD (JNP13) by about 5 years so the numbering makes no sense (unless they re-booted the JNP numbering system at some point).

Shiver and Shake - the editor writes

I looked here at a rare example of headed notepaper from a comic (in that case it was Monster Fun), now another example has surfaced (c/o Ian Hare) and my thanks to him for allowing me to share it here...

...if you know of any other examples of these 'letters from the editor' then do get in touch

Hit the jackpot

I'm always happy to feature comics free gifts on the blog especially more 'modern' ones - not just pre-war stuff given away with the regular issue of a comic.

So this is right up my street - a free gift from Jackpot comic given to all readers whose joke was judged the funniest of the week.

This is currently up for sale on ebay here - bidding starts at 99p and runs until early evening on Saturday. Good luck if you bid!

All the jokes...

The editor declare joke  #6 the winner

Blue Peter holiday special - Eric Bradbury

Another snippet from the 'Blue Peter holiday special' (1976)...

This time I've included it because the art is by Eric Bradbury. It mainly looks like Eric Bradbury, some of it doesn't quite look like his work so I'm going to put this down as a bit of a Bradbury 'rush job' - anyway, over to you to see if you can catch the crook...

IPC juvenile group - who was who?

From the Comics 101 convention brochure we have the question...who's who on the elephant?

Conrad from 'Space Spinner' guesses Alan Grant with the big tie and John Wagner with the paste.
Barrie Tomlinson ID's John Sanders top right and maybe art editor Royman Browne climbing the ladder.

There may be some clues in this image taken from the Comics 103 brochure just 2 years later
