Flintlock book 5 - John M Burns cover art

Steve 'Timebomb comics' Tanner has released this teaser image for the next issue of his comic series Flintlock - as you can see the (cover art only) has been produced by John M Burns...

As Time Bomb comics head honcho Steve Tanner says...

2020 has proven to be an awful year, but I'm hoping 2021 will be a better one for us all in one way or another.

One thing I am hoping will be considered a positive is the arrival of Flintlock Book Five, after a much too long gap since Book Four was released in the Autumn of 2019. It shouldn't be a surprise that the delay was covid related - all of Time Bomb's planned 2020 releases ended up being pushed back by a few months - but the good news is the wait for Book Five is almost over.

Current plans are for the Kickstarter to run through February for release in March, and you can sign up to receive notification of when the campaign opens by following this link:

I hope you'll consider joining me for more 18th Century adventures. In many ways working with the artists to create the stories in Flintlock Book Five really helped me get through this year, and I'm looking forward to sharing what we've created together with you.

Wishing you a positive, safe and ultimately happy 2021.

This isn't the first time that a British comics legend has graced the cover of Flintlock - Ian Kennedy was on the cover of issue 2

Lady Flintlock - book 3 - Kickstarter closes at 9pm tonight

Just a quick shout-out this morning for the final 15 hours just launched Kickstarter campaign for Flintlock - book 3. It's hit all 3 stretch goals but Steve Tanner is still interested in your money :)

For anyone not familiar with the Flintlock world this is what Steve has to say...

Flintlock is a regular comics anthology series with a difference - each book tells stories featuring a unique range of genuinely diverse characters in an Eighteenth Century shared historical timeline. The Eighteenth Century (1701 to 1800) was the era of highwaymen, pirates, samurai and thief-takers, and encompassed some of the most tumultuous changes in world history involving some of the richest personalities - and this is one of the inspirations for the stories and characters that feature in Flintlock.

This volume sees Steve ramp the page count up to 64 pages - that means you get 4 complete stories. I've backed issues one and two (issue 2 featured a great cover by Ian Kennedy, here)

Steve Tanner is a great advocate for small press comics and you can find the Kickstarter here

First announced stretch goal - artwork print by Sarah Millman!
Lady Flintlock - Artwork by Anthony Summey

Third stretch goal unlocked - This artwork by Ben Lopez will be sent to all backers as a limited print stretch goal reward (digital copy included in all digital only rewards). Note: Image shown is the work in progress, not final artwork.

Kickstarter - Flintlock book 3

Just a quick shout-out this morning for the just launched Kickstarter campaign for Flintlock - book 3. It's already full funded, a mere 12 hours after launch but Steve Tanner is still interested in your money :)

Kickstarter campaign - Ian Kennedy illustrates Lady Flintlock

Just a quick break from Thrud-related postings to bring you news of a Kickstarter campaign that features legendary British comics illustrator Ian Kennedy. Ian has only recently illustrated his first 2 US style comics, albeit a re-working of a British comics character, Johnny Red issues 2 and 8 (see below)

Well now he's illustrating something completely different...he's provided the cover for a Kickstarter-backable campaign for Flintlock comic issue 2. I backed issue 1 and thought it was great, 3 good b+w stories, good art throughout, a real throwback to the adventure comics of my youth.

Anyway, Ian has got involved and this is part of the cover he's drawn.

I'm not showing you the whole cover as I want you to go to Kickstarter right now and read more about this great comic and learn how you can get hold, not only of this comic, but also a limited edition print of the cover.

You can back the campaign from tomorrow (Wed 28th Sep) - Steve's only looking for £500, so why not help him reach his goal? I know I will.
