UPDATED: Tank Girl - manga (1995/6)

I only recently became aware of this short-lived (only 8 issues) Tank Girl comic from 1995/6. This is a large comic (so British sized rather than US comic sized) with mainly Tank Girl reprints - what a surprise. I've acquired issue 1 so far and I'll be on the look out for the other issues.

Now updated with the (previously missing) cover to issue 5

Tank Girl, issue 1, July 1995

Tank Girl, issue 2, August 1995

Tank Girl, issue 3, September 1995

Tank Girl, issue 4, October 1995

Tank Girl - Carioca

A recent acquisition is this 3-part Tank Girl mini-series (from 2011/12) that I somehow managed missed back in the day. For me, it's not Tank Girl that's the main attraction here but rather close on 150 pages of Mike McMahon's art!

Mike's Wikipedia entry (here) lists this work as McMahon's only work after the year 2002. So, well worth looking out for.

One day, I'll do a piece on Mike's work for Sonic The Hedgehog comic, but I've got a bit more collecting to do on that front first.

Comics exhibition - Worthing museum

Not only are there comics exhibitions on at The McManus in Dundee, the V&A in London and (shortly) the Atkinson in Southport, we can now add Worthing museum (here) to that list!

They say...

– Nadia and Nessy, founders of Creative Waves, are working with Alan Martin on New Amusements funded by Arts Council England. As well as an exhibition on Worthing Pier, featuring Tank Girl, Alan has curated pieces from his collection of comic ephemera for an exclusive display cabinet in Worthing Museum until July 2017.
“The lucky people will be able to see a very rare original copy of Atom Tan #1, printed on the Worthing Art college’s photocopier thirty years ago, featuring the first published work of Gorillaz artist Jamie Hewlett, and the very first appearance of the comic and movie icon Tank Girl.” – Alan Martin

Deadline - it was big

The other day I picked up a sort of 'press pack' for Deadline (couple of quid in a charity shop, much cheaper than the individual issues of Deadline that they were selling). Anyway, for your delight, here are some images from it...

Cover - Tank Girl (obviously)

What is Deadline? Oh I see, it's a "...new breed of two dimensional active entertainment" rather than, say, a magazine with comic strips in

Compliments slip

A year in and what's next for Deadline?

Tank Girl on the beach

Tank Girl writer and co-creator Alan C. Martin has announced that Friday 4th August (the day of his birthday) is the very day you should rush to Worthing beach!

Over on the Tank Girl facebook page (here) he explains is thus...

SIGNING! After last year's craziness, we'll be returning to Worthing Beach on Friday 4th August (my birthday) with our pop-up shop, crisps and cider! This time we'll be joined by the majestic artiste Warwick Johnson-Cadwell. We'll be happy to scribble obscene images and our illegible signatures on anything you bring along! we'll also be selling sets of our exclusive new mini-prints! Hope to see some of you there, Alan XXX

You can also check out the Tank Girl shop here for all sorts of cool Tank Girl merchandise, including this rather eye-catching badge...
