Gosh comics - 'Armed with madness' signing today

Don't forget that this is today at Gosh comics!

In Gosh comics the other evening and I spotted these posters for upcoming signings - not sure I've seen them on the Gosh Twitter feed yet. Anyway, dates for your diary in May & July.
Interestingly, Mary's events listing for 2023 (here) notes that she'll be at the Cartoon Museum the evening before (so, Friday 12th May) doing a talk (with Bryan) about the book. Look out for tickets for that going on sale some point soon.

Mary & Bryan Talbot in conversation at the Cartoon Museum

Just a reminder that this talk is tomorrow evening - at the time of typing there were still tickets available...

Tickets have just gone on sale (here, £10) for a talk (on Friday 12th May) at the Cartoon Museum with Mary & Bryan Talbot all about their latest graphic novel collaboration. It says here...

Join Mary & Bryan Talbot as they discuss their latest graphic novel looking at the life of Surrealist, Leonora Carrington.

Reluctant muse and feminist champion… society heiress and rebel refugee… the last of the Surrealists: Leonora Carrington played many roles in her long and extraordinary life. Renouncing her privileged upbringing in pre-war England for the more exciting elite of Paris’s 1930s avant-garde, she comes to rub shoulders (and more) with the likes of Pablo Picasso, Man Ray, and Salvador Dalí, after embarking on a complicated love affair with Max Ernst. But the demons that have both haunted and inspired her work are gathering, and when the world goes mad with the outbreak of war and the Nazi invasion, Leonora’s own hold on reality collapses into a terrifying psychotic episode of her own. Eventually fleeing war-torn Europe, she emerges into a new and richly creative life in Mexico City, establishing herself as a prodigious painter, writer, and advocate of women’s rights.

This new work by the acclaimed partnership of Mary M. Talbot and Bryan Talbot celebrates the life and career of a truly remarkable woman – and artist.

All tickets include entry to the Museum.

Mary & Bryan Talbot @ Gosh tomorrow

Don't forget that this it tomorrow people...

Gosh comics have announced (here) a signing with Mary & Bryan Talbot to celebrate the launch of their new graphic novel

Let's see what their website has to say...

The award-winning team of Mary & Bryan Talbot return with a stunning new graphic novel, Rain, and we’re thrilled to have them here signing copies on Saturday October 26th, 1-2pm!

Over the past 8 years or so UK comics legend Bryan Talbot and historian (and wife) Mary have created some truly landmark British graphic novels (in the truest sense of the term) with a body of work including Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes, Sally Heathcote: Suffragette (with Kate Charlesworth), and The Red Virgin and the Vision of Utopia. Now they look to continue that trend with Rain, a book which looks at big issues on an intimate scale.

From acclaimed writer/historian Mary M Talbot and graphic-novel pioneer Bryan Talbot comes Rain, a chronicle of the growing relationship of two young women, one an environmental activist, set against the backdrop of the disastrous 2015 floods in northern England.

The wild Brontë moorlands are being criminally mismanaged as crops are being poisoned, and birds and animals are being slaughtered. While the characters are fictional, the tragedy is shockingly real.

Bryan and Mary will be here signing on Saturday October 26th, from 1-2pm. If you can’t make it but would like one of their books signed, you can pre-order a copy on our webstore now for collection or mail order.

Here are some pictures of Bryan (and his art) at his recent appearance at Orbital comics
