Boys Will be Boys

At Cards for Men they have a super title for their challenge this week, ' Boys will be Boys' and as we know Men are just little boys in disguise. For my card I used some My Minds Eye papers, along with some from my stash. The main image is a LOTV stamp which I love, so typical of all boys. Thanks for visiting me, I am slowly starting to get back into making cards again.
I am also entering this card to apply for a DT post for a new blog, The Male Room, which will also be concentrating on male cards challenges. There are so few around, another will help to promote what most crafters find difficul, making male cards.

One For the Boys

Another fabulous response to last week's challenge at Make My Monday,  we are always looking for cards for men, so here we are, your challenge if you accept it is - 'One For The Boys'. Now this can be for an old boy or a young boy, for really men are only boys in a larger body aren't they? I feel I can say this with authority being one of 8 females in a family with 15 (boys) men. I felt like having a messy afternoon, so made some backgrounds, from which I used this one for the card. Started as a white card, covered with several Distress inks, then splashed around with a few similar H2o's to add bling, I don't think the bling shows here. The stamp is a Butterfly Kisses - Nautical from Hobby Art, along with the sentiment, I was lucky to win these in a challenge last year. Have fun making your card, looking forward to visiting your blog and thanks to those who have visited me, it is always appreciated.
I am also entering my card into Cards for Men challenge #2 Transport- Sailing and clipper ships.

Man at Work

Am I odd? I do sympathise with those who seem to struggle making men's cards. Maybe because I being female are in the minority in our family, we few ladies and girls are surrounded by an army of men and boys.
so, I have to like making men's/ boys cards, I am so pleased I have found  two challenge blogs strictly for male cards. Over at Here Comes the Boys this week is a sketch and at Cards for Men their theme is Men At Work, so I have combined the challenges in one card. Here is the sketch.................
The male image is from the Flippen men series which I thought suited this design, for I see him as beginning to add a shelf to the wall, but of course being a man he is thinking about it with a pint in his hand.  All coloured with Promarkers.

Make My Monday - New Theme

At Make My Monday during the last month we have had a lovely time with Spring,  thanks to the choices made by Jacqueline. this month, April our theme will be for MEN/BOYS cards, I know some of us don't like making men's cards, which is why these are challenges, for you to stretch yourselves and give it a try, plus there will be more cards for you to look at and get ideas. So we are hoping to see you really get involved during April.  The first challenge leaves you with lots of choices but we want to see WHEELS. Please pop over to the blog above for the Design Team again have come up with some marvellous inspiration for you. I decided on a monochrome effect using most of my stamps with wheels. Hoping you enjoy taking a look and again many thanks for your comments and visit. I look forward to visiting you to check out your wheels.
The motor-bike stamp is from Papermania, the remainder are from a company, which I think isn't around any more, please let me know if I am wrong. I think they were called Xelcrafts. This type of card would be welcomed by all of the males in our family as they are all motor or engine enthusiasts.

CAS at Cards for Men

Over at Cards for Men and Boys, the challenge this week is Clean and Simple. Some time ago, I saw this technique, which I am calling Split Negative, I tried several times without success. Today I tried again and it worked so well. Everything comes to he who waits, so they say. I stamped with Versamark and used white embossing powder onto black card, then stamped onto white card, using black ink and clear embossing powder. The trick then is to mount them one on the other exactly, I then cut the square to 6sq cm.,  checked again the position of the bike then cut the card at 3 cm. I have another two pieces left so I can make another card. I matted and layered on white and black card. Added black and silver card candy down the two scalloped edges and made it a tent card. I hope you like my card, however, many thanks for visiting me, I always look forward to your comments.
I am also entering this into  the Secret Crafter Monochrome (Black and White only) challenge.

One For the Boys - Tag

This week at Try It On Tuesday we would like you to make a TAG - the theme was chosen by Yvonne - One for the Boys. My OH's business and passion is fixing things, so this is very appropriate for any gift I may give him in the future. Lovin Ink are sponsoring us with a fab bag of goodies. My handyman is stamped with one of the Flippen men stamps by La Pashe. I used Promarkers to colour him in. Once again I look forward to visiting your blogs to see your tags. Thanks so much for the fabulous response to last week's challenge. Have fun everyone.

Another guy's card

This week at Stampin B's Design team the challenge is a masculine card, I do like making men's cards, hope that doesn't make me sound weird, for I know many crafter's find them a super challenge. Coincidently at my card class tomorrow my little group of lovely ladies will be making a few masculine cards, this will be one them. I have prepared a selection for them to choose to make, hopefully, 3 cards. This is a really easy card to make. The main card is navy, with a kraft piece of card. Stamps are from Creative Expressions, a Sheena Douglass A5 plate. Colouring medium was mostly watercolour pencils and for the background TH Tumbled Glass. Finished by tying a piece of twine around the kraft card before attaching it. Thanks for looking and for your comments which are always appreciated.

Special Birthdays

For Challenge 42 - Special Birthday - at Crafty Cardmaker's I made a concertina card. A friend and her husband are shortly going to Paris for a few days, during which time he will have a birthday, now that's what I call special. The card is all based on black folded card, measures 4"sq when folded up and 24" wide when open. I decided on giving it an old distressed look. The backgrounds are scrunched paper with ink over the creases. The image sheets are torn and creased, some with rolled edges. The stamps are all relevant to travelling and Paris, mainly from a Debbie Moore set of clear stamps. I have tried to keep it as masculine as possible but couldn't resist the bling for the Happy Birthday. I have left the back, plain black and told his wife, who has seen it, they could later add some small pics of their trip on the back.

Masculine Card

This week at Less Is More, we have been given the challenge of a Masculine card. there are lots more guys in my family than we girls, so I have to make quite a few guy's cards, but still never feel I've got the same satisfaction from when I make a female card. Here is my card, with a luxury speedboat, a dream for a lot of guys. Speed is their thing! Stamped the boat in, Mediterranean Blue Brilliance ink. I coloured the boat with a pencil and added silver highlights on the metal work with a Sakura Silver pen. To the waves I rubbed with my finger a blob of white/silver glitter glue. I choose a wavy sentiment to match the waves. Thanks girls for the contiuing interesting swaps you are giving us. Certainly makes me think before I stamp.

Water - Cards for Men

The theme this week at Cards for Men (and boys) is Water. I have used all TH Distress inks with Inkylicious brushes, I haven't tried a brayer yet, still a bit nervous about it, but I love the brushes. The scene I have created so reminds me of beaches on th north east coast of England. Stamps used.......
Boat and sand dunes are from a Coast plate by Creative Expressions
The remainder are by Inkylicious from the Trees and the Grasses plates.
