Things With Wings

Here we are again at Sparkles Forum monthly challenge - our theme this month being Things With Wings. Such a variety available to you, with this theme. I recently made this card for my class, which of course fits in perfectly with the challenge. I used a 5.75 white card. Embossed with large Swiss Dots a panel which  I then used a Spellbinder scalloped die to create the aperture. Pretty LOTV designer paper added below the aperture. Dimensional pads added to raise the panel. Prepared butterlies added to the card. The butterflies were stamped onto vellum using Versamark, white detailed embossing powder then heated. Butterlies then cut out and added to the card with silicone.
Stamps used ;- Tattered Butterflies from Lyndsay Mason, a La blanche foam butterfly, the smallest butterfly from Elusive Images. Here is a close up of the largest of the butterlies.
Many thanks to our sponsors this month
The Winner will receiver Marianne Designs 2 Dies or 1 Die & 1 stamp

Twinchies Challenge 3 Music & Lyrics

Thanks to everyone who has left me a comment on my first entry to the Twinchies Challenge  HERE . As there is no limit to entries and the challenge closes next Wednesday, I thought I'd enter a second time with a lighter and brighter Twinchie. The music is from a La Blanche stamp and the little bird is a £1 Twinchie stamp from Inkylicious. Coloured with Time Holtz Dusty Concorde and Stormy Sky Distress Inks. As I was colouring it the tune from South Pacific went through my head, 'When ever I feel afraid, I whistle a happy tune' and so on. Hence the lyrics I chose.

Mid Week Motivation at MMM

Every week on a Wednesday the Design Team member of Make My Monday, who chose the challenge theme provides you with a Mid- Week Motivation project to hopefully guide, instruct or simply inspire you. I decided to make 3 bookmarks where I have used the same new stamp but in different ways, hoping to give that inspiration if you need it.
The Bookmark on the LEFT is a simple Monochrome approach, using a white piece of card, and a black ink pad for the stamp. I have also added further interest stamping a few leaves from another set of stamps. I dragged around the outer edge with the chisel nib of a black marker pen. Added fibres and ribbons.
The CENTRE example shows how my adding pretty papers to your bookmark, you don't need to add any further colouring to the background. I have only coloured the birds, made a small flower using a stamp and again added fibres and ribbon.
The final bookmark on the RIGHT is more of a Vintage style, I coloured the background with TH Distress inks Old Paper, Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain. All the stamping was done using a black ink pad. I added a piece of lace and a fancy button, along with the fibres and ribbon to embellish it.
Stamps Used----
Left -Bird Cage with two birds from Inkylicious. My non - inked stamp.
Left - Leaves - Paperartsy - Flora and Fauna 3
Centre -The small flower - from Dreamees

Right Border top and bottom from La Blanche stamps.

# 43 Addicted to Colour

This is our 43rd challenge already, doesn't time go quickly? Here we are at Addicted to Stamps and More
and it is our week to challenge you with Colour, see the three colours above, you need to use all 3, of course not the exact named colours but as near as possible.  We the Design team, are also challenged, for we don't know what surprises our wonderful leader Kylie is going to put forward. I found this one difficult, I'll be honest for I am more a dirty, grungy creator, I don't often use such light bright colours, maybe I should  jump out of my comfort box more often, what do you think? Please pop over to the main blog for the DT have created some super samples for you.
I started by rubbing onto a piece of white card, with Faded Jeans (Blue), Worn Lipstick (Pink) and Wild Honey (Orange) I blended them all together, hence in some areas it looks green, combo of the blue and orange blended together. I heat embossed the dragonfly directly onto the card and separately onto card. I used H20's to colour the dragonfly. the stamped sentiment is from Indigo Blu, the dragonfly from Sheena Douglass and the small background flower from La Blanche stamps. Hope you like it, will be popping around to visit you, have fun with your creation, remember anything goes in the required colours.

#42 Make Your Mark

It's Challenge #42 - at Addicted to Stamps and More   and this week it is time to MAKE YOUR MARK, by using any form of medium, inks, Promarkers, Aquamarkers, any other alcohol pens or markers. Have fun.

We are again very pleased to welcome our sponsor for this week

For my card I was inspired when looking on Sheena Douglas's webs site, I had recently bought some flower stamps and my mojo went off on one of it's little holidays. One glance and that was it, I was off running. I coloured the background using Distress Inks blended together, Peeled Paint, Broken China and Mustard Seed. I then stamped second generation the words from the set, though the ideas is only for them to be very light. I then gold embossed my most favourite swirl stamp in my collection it is from La Blanche, I'm sure you will have spotted it frequently on my work. I then completed the card by adding some of Sheena Douglas's  butterflies, painted with blue H20's with Glossy Accents on them. A yellow ribbon to complete. Now let us see how you will Make Your Mark during the next week.
I would like at this stage to welcome my latest followers, I am always glad to see new faces looking down on my work, your comments are always so heart warming and help to keep the mojo in motion.

Code Word is Flower

For the next two weeks at Addicted to CAS (Clean and Simple) the Code Word was my choice.
I chose FLOWER, everyone loves flowers, so we are expecting to see a beautiful array of flowers over the next two weeks.
Our thanks to our wonderful sponsors.
I like to experiment, make a mess and play with my craft stash, this card is the result of a play session. Speaking to newbies rather than those experienced crafters, many times when you know what you want to achieve but it just doesn't happen, please don't despair. The card above was the fourth attempt for me.
I added water to my two chosen colours of H2Os though any mica pigment medium would work as well.
I added the paints directly onto the stamp, from La Blanche, sprayed water onto it, to give a watercolour effect. I then stamped it directly onto the card, this is the second generation stamping. (I stamped it twice). first on copy paper them onto the card. Please do have a go sometime, enjoy playing. We are all looking forward to seeing your CAS Flower projects.

CAS at ATSM

Here we are round to our CAS (Clean and Simple) week. A long time ago I bought several sets of La Blanche flowers, they were the first La Blanche stamps I had bought. I must add I have bought many since. They are so different to both rubber and clear stamps, yet they give such a clear defined image. I believe they are made of foam with a silicone coating. They were once very reasonably priced but I have found as they have become more popular, of course, the prices have gone up. I have used a very small stamp, actually my most favourite flower stamp of all, I used several Distress inks to stamp directly, using post it note masks.  I decided not to add any further colour, other than the greeting stamped in a similar colour rather than using black. I hope you have fun  making your CAS card, where really Anything Goes - for there is no theme attached to it.

Pink and Black at MMM

This week at Make My Monday it is my turn to choose the theme, I always love to see the vast differences in how people interpret a colour challenge so my choice this week is an old favourite of many PINK AND BLACK no other colour is to be used. For my project I decided to alter an old CD, you know those advertising ones that you often get either through the door or with newspapers.  I painted it pink, then added some of TH Shabby stash papers which I had stamped on with a beautiful La Blanche scroll stamp. I added a few pearls The three ladies have been stamped onto pink paper and matted onto black card. Thank goodness for my crop-o-dile which cuts holes like a knife in butter. I now have a pretty wall hanging to add to my home. Have fun everyone.

Use Warm Colours

Use It Tuesdays  this week have challenged us to use up some of our reds, oranges and yellows to warm up our winter days. I made this Fat Page for the Do Crafts Fat Page Swap I organise, for this month's theme, which is Words and Music. Being a Fat Page it measures 4" x 4" which I keep in a book. I used warm colours from the Distress Inks range from TH. The music stamp and the pretty violinist are from La Blanche. to add a touch of richness to the back and front I added a little of my own Pot Pourri mix of gilding flakes.

A Winter Sky

3rd Post Today
This month at The Stampman the challenge is a Winter's Tale, to depict showing either a winter sky, snow a snowy scene, all in the above card. The main image is a favourite of mine and my class, we all adore this scene, which has been created with a La Blanche stamp I bought years ago from QVC. I have coloured all the areas with Promarkers, a touch of my Quickie glue pen here and there with the addition of Crystal Glamour dust to define the snow areas. Matted onto red paper, with a die cut front added. Please, to the purists forgive me for adding a peel off, needs must on occasion. The corner stamp is an old but trusted Clarity Stamp, possibly now classed as an antique. Happy Christmas to Jill and Ian, and all their trusty elves who bring us over the year so many wonderful creations.

Make My Monday - New Theme

Hi everyone, well it's December and time for a new monthly challenge. It is my turn to choose the theme and weekly topics this month, some for Christmas,  but we are starting with a Non Christmas Card, so the Monthly Challenge is called POT POURRI .  During December there are many of us who have a birthday, so for the first challenge in December the team would like to see what is YOUR FAVOURITE FLOWER - Mine is a poppy, as I suspect are many others. It does seem to be a very popular flower, maybe you will prove us wrong. Remember it can be any project, not just a card, as long as you abide by our few rules. The Design Team and our guest designer have produced some wonderful samples to inspire you. I will also be back on Wednesday with a Mid Week Motivation.  Here is my card.
I cut the size of card I needed for the poppy panel, I have made many bookmarks like this. I coloured the background using a shaving type brush and TH Distress ink Old Paper. I then stamped the crackle effect to cover the piece. This is actually a short cut that I know works from past experience, because once you've stamped the poppy and water coloured the poppy using TH (Tim Holtz)  inks you can't see the crackle lines on the poppies unless you get up close and personal. Otherwise you have to go down the road of stamping the poppy first, then making and using a mask, then stamping the crackle effect. etc. etc. The poem is from Elusive Images, embellishments are ribbon and card candy. I am looking forward to visiting you to see what is YOUR FAVOURITE FLOWER.

V - Vintage at Alphabet Challenge

Isn't the year going fast? Or is that just me? Here we are at Alphabet Challenges - up to the letter V- Pat has chosen Vintage. Another excuse for me to make another Christmas card. It certainly is helpful getting my needed supply box filled. I have used a La Blanche stamp which I have had for many years but still enjoy using it. The background papers rather have a modern twist, they are from a LOTV Frosty Christmas Paper Pad. I coloured the main image using Promarkers, then added a lot of shimmery glitter glue. I am hoping this shows. Please do pop over to our main blog to see the lovely cards the design team have made to inspire you.

Flowers - Scrapbook Challenge

Second Post Today
At Addicted to Stamps  monthly Scrapbook Challenge #3 is 'Flowers'. Here is a LO I made of my youngest grandson. There are several layers of papers, all of the flowers were cut from a full size scrapbook page. I added buttons to match the colours on the page. At the left of his picture there is a hidden tag, you hold the button and pull, it has all the details of his birth. Of course there had to be some stamping so I have used a blue ink pad and stamped with a favourite La Blanche scroll stamp.
I am also sending this to Happy Scrappers - for their Buttons and Bows challenge. I have lots of buttons, but only one knot, bows don't look right for a boy. Hoping it is acceptable. Keep the UK flag flying girls.
