Cards I like of teams I dislike

Starting a Blog Bat-Around these days is kind of like announcing in 1989 that you just bought a vinyl record. Nobody cares, everyone's moved on to compact discs/TikTok.   But records came back, and are dumb expensive, so maybe blogging will, too. Anyway, this is a Blog Bat-Around for the seven of you that blog and care about this topic.   Not Another Baseball Card Blog has already kicked it off . This theme came from a Bluesky discussion and was specifically mentioned by Shlabotnik Report , I think. What are cards you like that feature a team you don't like?   This could get very involved for me. There are a lot of cards I like, often showing teams I root against. And my dislike for teams can spread like a disease covering two-thirds of major league franchises. It all depends on the baseball scene at the time, whether playoffs are involved, etc.   But to keep this manageable, I'll cover four or five teams. And most of the cards I'm showing are coming from ch...

Random posting for the real start of the postseason

I did this post last year and it got so many "more, more" requests that I'm doing it again this year. As a review, to avoid too much flack for actually daring to root for teams during the postseason for a whole entire post, I went with a "most, oldest, newest" post to recognize the annual October ritual. Yeah, I know I'm a little late. But I planned it like this. I don't know what that thing was that we just saw this week. I'm pretty much discounting the wild card as part of the postseason until they get it fixed. You got to win only two games? And teams that won their division are involved??? If you're going to have some crapshoot round, let the wild card teams knock heads, keep the guys who conquered everyone over six months out of it. Also, please, MLB, start reseeding after each round like pro leagues who know what they're doing.   So now we're at the division series, where things make sense somewhat -- though the Phillies should...

What's that you got on your head?

This card came in yet another trade with Cards on Cards . It features those abominations that Major League Baseball made all-stars wear on their heads this past season. I am with everyone who hates these things. I hope they never appear again and wish like hell they were never captured on baseball cards. But here we are and I have this card of Zack Greinke looking goofy forever. I'm guessing some folks don't like these caps because they either don't remember or didn't grow up with the multi-tone caps from the 1970s and 1980s. Those caps used to be a regular fact of baseball life, like stirrups, sansabelt baseball pants and bullpen carts (which also sometimes wore a cap). Those caps didn't really bother me then. So I'm wondering why they bothered me so much when I saw them during All-Star festivities. I think one of the reasons is because teams that never featured those kinds of caps, like the Dodgers, were suddenly wearing them. The other reason onl...
