C.C. Designs: CIRCUS

I loved the circus growing up! When I was little we used to save up money, and whenever the circus came to town we would go as a family. So when I saw the Circus Set, I knew I had to recreate a circus scene. I used the Lawn Fawn Shadow Box Card Die with the Shadow Box Theater Add-On to make the shape, and then added the animals inside with the ringmaster on the outside on pop-dots.

I love the dimension of this card! And the great thing is that it does fold flat for mailing. The sentiment at the top is part of the Circus Set and was gold heat embossed.

C.C. Designs: FOREST PIXIE Pop-Up Box Card

Happy FRIDAY everyone! I hope you had an awesome week so far! Thank goodness it's Friday and the start to the weekend. Today I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and make a different kind of card. This one is called a Pop-Up Box Card. I created this cute scene using the Little Pixie Forest Pixie Stamp Set along with the Make A Card #13 Metal Die and Make A Card #16 Summer Metal Die.

The sentiments are from the Forest Pixie Set and Happy Sentiments. I used the Layering Tags Metal Die to cut out the sentiments and matted them on yellow cardstock. To adhere my patterned paper to my project I use my Xyron Sticker Maker. I love to run all the cut patterned paper through my machine so I get an even layer of adhesive on the entire surface. It makes assembly of the box go a lot faster!

Y&F Handmade Crafts Challenge #3--Anything but a CARD!

Happy Sunday everyone!! It's hard to believe it's already the middle of September, what, what?? I can't believe the summer flew by so quickly and now we are headed into fall. I love FALL! The cooler temps and trees changing colors and my ability to layer clothes....I LOVE layers!!

Well, enough about me, let's get on with it, hee, hee! It's been another 2 weeks (man it flew by), and we have another challenge for you on the Yumi and Fumi Handmade Crafts Blog. Have I told you that I love making 3-D projects? I find them therapeutic.....sometimes, haha! Usually my time is limited so I don't always get the chance to work on them. I'm glad these challenges are every 2 weeks, because it gives me the time to come back to it throughout the week. These papers are Close to my Heart! I love their paper packs because everything coordinates!

I made a 5x5 card, a couple 3x3 cards, and some stationery to go inside the box.

All stamps are made of deeply etched red rubber on cling mount. They are scroll cut so you don't need to trim the rubber, indexed so you know where you are stamping, and they are packaged with lots of Aloha. :)

My first project up is a frame featuring AJ. I think he's so adorable and cute!! He reminds me of my hubby when he had a full head of curly hair....that's been a good minute, LOL!

I bought this cheap frame at Walmart on clearance. I took the plastic opening cover off and added origami paper inside. Then I used origami paper and made Origami Lucky Stars (you can google it for all sorts of step-by-step instructions). It took a little to get used to the folding, but once I figured it out the stars came together pretty quickly. I then used a white paint pen and wrote the title and drew a few stars in the corner. Pretty easy and simple!

My next project features Yumi with Bookbag....OH, I LOVE HER!! She's so versatile and gorgeous! She reminds me of my beautiful niece Malia, who's birthday just happened to be Sept. 2nd....Happy Birthday sweet girl!

I made a "Back to School" set for this next project. I was originally going to try and fit Yumi on the backpack (you can google paper backpack for a tutorial), but it came out a little too small once the flap was added so I decided to make a little matching card. I can fill the backpack with candy, crayons, and even cute erasers. I know several of Isaiah's "girl" friends who would love to get this! The delish papers are from Echo Park This & That....YUMMY!

CropStop Challenge 86: Back to School

Happy Thursday y'all! Well I'm in the new house in Texas, but man are there a lot of boxes to unpack!!! It's leaving me stressed, depressed and frazzled! I want everything to be in it's place already and it's frustrating searching through boxes to try and find what I'm looking for since I didn't pack it. Usually the packers are a little more detailed on their descriptions, but this time around they were in such a hurry they just wrote really vague things. On top of it, they didn't always put "like" items together. The pot might be in one box, but the lid in another....things like that.

Well enough complaining! Like a friend said...."One box at a time!" It's really the truth and that's how I need to approach it....even if all I get to unpack is 1 box...at least it's one less box to worry about. I have the bedding and towels washed so that is definitely a plus!

Today at CropStop, our challenge for you is:

My Oklahoma peeps started school this week, but here in Texas, school doesn't start until Monday, Aug. 27th. At first I was really happy about the late start so Isaiah could get a little adjusted in the new house. But now he's bored....really, really bored!! So school will be a big relief...for BOTH of us!!

For my project today, I used this awesome FREEBIE from Whimsie Doodles called Pencil Pixie. She was perfect for my Pencil Box Project. I printed her on X-Press It Blending Card and colored her with Copics and chalk.

Here's my project for this week.....a Pencil Box Holder!! I found this awesome template by Ilina Creations called First Day Ensemble. I knew when I saw it that I just had to have it!! I know I'll use this so many times throughout Isaiah's school years!! For this project, I did add an "eraser" and I used the insert to hold pencils. But I think it would be cute as a candy holder too (without the insert)!!

I used Core-dinations Cardstock and I love it!! It has a textured surface and if you emboss with it, you can sand the embossing to reveal a different color in the core!! Here's a side view with the top opened.

And, a top view so you can see the insert which holds the pencils in the middle better. Of course this one is not filled up, so the pencils are falling to the side.

My little boy has since taken it over and added all sorts of stuff to the outside and inside!! He LOVED it as soon as he saw it all put together, and asked if he could have it. When I said yes (I know, I'm crazy), his eyes got all big and he said I was the best Momma ever!! Then he said I needed to take that girl image off, LOL!

He's hugging it, haha!

For my big project today I decided to use the ever-versatile and adorable Fumi with Present!! I think her hair is so darn cute!! :)

For my project today I made a 12-Drawer Easel Card Dresser...say that 10 times fast, LOL! I made one of these a long, long time ago and when I started to make this one I realized why I haven't made them more often. They take quite a bit of time, patience and cardstock!! I hope to do a tutorial on it soon. I did add some instruction to my original post HERE.

I used black textured Bazzill Cardstock for the matchboxes/holders, side panels, and top/bottom panels. To give it some sturdiness I cut out 6x6 chipboard and covered it on both sides with the black cardstock to make the base and top panels. Then I made an Easel Card to sit on top of the top panel. The gold dp is from The Paper Studio. The flowery dp is actual some free digital paper I found online at the Canon site HERE.

The roses and black swirls are from Recollections. The ribbon came from my stash. The sentiment is from CTMH. It's hard to see it, but it says:
"Yesterday is history
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a Gift
That's why we call it the Present."
I thought it went perfectly with this stamp. :) I stamped it in Gold ink and then wrote over it with a Gold Sharpie Paint Pen to make it brighter and easier to see. The knobs are wooden ones from Hobby Lobby. I used my Gold Sharpie Paint Pen to color them and then glued them to the front of each matchbox.

Here's a back view so you can see that the drawers go all the way around....3 on each side.

Hope you enjoyed my project!! I'm finally getting settled into our new house. There's still lots of cleaning and unpacking to do, but at least I have some of the kitchen done so I can start cooking again!! My wonderful MIL is coming at the end of the month for 2 weeks to help me unpack and get organized. I can't wait!! I'll be back on another day to share house pics!

Isn't she beautiful?!?! I just {heart} her!! This stamp measures 3.25" HT x 2.43" W, and the best part..... she is scroll-cut and indexed for easy stamping. That means no cutting thick rubber and getting a hand-cramp (I am forever traumatized from cutting thick rubber, LOL!!). In addition, they are indexed so you can see exactly where you are stamping.

CropStop Creative Team Debut!

Today’s my official start date as a member of CropStop’s Creative Team, woo hoo!! And to top it all off they are showcasing projects from each Creative Team member on the CropStop Challenge Blog. Every Thursday a new challenge goes up on the blog and you have until the following Wednesday to link your project. The winner is announced on Friday and wins an AWESOME prize! This week's challenge is a sketch challenge by Gloria Stengel. Here's the sketch:

I knew I wanted to do something special since it was my very first Creative Team project. I decided to make a 12-drawer Easel Card Dresser. The Easel Card on top follows the sketch for this week’s challenge.
I followed this tutorial here to make the matchboxes and sleeves. However, when I was making the matchbox sleeves, I realized the measurements on the tutorial were a little off. I cut my sleeve panel 7 5/8" x 3 2/16", and scored my sleeves at these intervals using my Scor-Pal (I measure and mark my lines with a ruler and then use my Scor-Pal): score at 1", 3 5/16", 4 5/16", and 6 5/8".
I glued 3 matchboxes with sleeves on top of each other using Fabri-Tac glue. I usually use my Scor-Tape for the entire project, but I was running low so I had to use glue to put some of it together. This, of course, takes longer because you have to wait for the glue to dry. :(

For the embossed side panels, I cut a piece of white cardstock 5 2/16” and scored at 1” from both ends. Then I ran it through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder. I glued that piece to one side of the 3-stacked matchboxes. After that dried, I glued the stacked matchboxes onto the bottom 6x6 chipboard piece (following the tutorial). Then I added glue to the tops of the matchbox sleeves and pressed the top chipboard piece into place (pushing the matchboxes inward with my hands at the same time to keep the top of the matchboxes from spreading outward).

For the front drawer panels, I glued rectangle pieces of pink cardstock and then layered white cardstock, embossed with Swiss Dots, on top of the pink. The little drawer pulls were little wooden knobs from Hobby Lobby. I painted them pink with Anita’s Baby Pink Acrylic Paint (about 3 thin coats).
For the Easel Card, I used Ballerina Tilda. I colored her with Copics and did my shading with chalk. I added Star Dust Stickles to her dress and tiara and added a small pearl to the middle of her tiara. I used Scor-Tape to put the Easel Card together because it’s really strong and holds like nothing else!! I generally use it for all my layered cards and 3-D projects! The white panel behind Tilda is embossed again with Swiss Dots. The white and pink cs are both distressed with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink. Then Cotton Candy Stickles were added around the edge of the white embossed cs.
The light pink rose paper came from my stash. The pink paper with white dots is from a Tim Holtz paper pack. The lace ribbon is from The Paper Studio. The flowers and pearl swirl accent are from the Recollections Boutique Fleur line at Michaels. The mini pink roses in the corners are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
On the bottom part of the Easel Card, I punched out the sentiment with the EK Success Real Estate Sign Punch. The sentiment is from a CTMH stamp set and embossed using VersaMark and Zing Pink Embossing Powder. I edged the punched shape with Cotton Candy Stickles and sponged Worn Lipstick Distress Ink all over the embossed sentiment. The sheer ribbon is from my stash, but CropStop has some really cute sheer pink ribbon with ruffle edge here. The border on the white cs was made with a Martha Stewart Border Punch. This punch is currently not in the store, but you can view other MS punches here.
