Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

Bootleggers

Well I have decided that the little project for this year will be 1920's prohibition Gangsters & Bootleggers. I have looked at a few sets of rules - and like the look of "Mad Dogs with Guns" ,It has a card activation system similar to the rules being used with the Old West collection,  although there may be few a tweaks as I really like the the way the custom cards are playing in the Cowboy games.

I have this project in the back of my mind for a little while as I picked up a starter figure back at Salute last year. So here we have one "Al Capone". Figure is from the Steve Barber Prohibition Wars range.

I have started picking up a few vehicles of around the correct vintage. .He has a more up market Rolls Royce on the way - a whole 99p . - look for "LLEDO Days gone past" range they are cheap as chips on ebay

Of course until I came to base him it was then I twigged that the normal PVA and sand route was not going to cut it. These will need a more urban feel. So I used a bit a green stuff putty and marked it out as sidewalk on the base - worked a treat.

Mrs D got me a good reference book for Xmas, along with Boardwalk Empire DVD's

anyway that is for the future - figures to source , and buildings etc. There are few projects to clear up first. I been making water slide transfers for some aircraft - so next up is the completion of the Red Air Force and the Luftwaffe.

First game of the New Year tomorrow too - see if Steve can manage to get his Cowboys through there first encounter of the campaign.
