Four Strong

We are home, happy, and healthy. My delivery of Cannon was just as quick and easy as with Bostyn, despite the 2 pound addition! He came 3 weeks early and was huge by my standards. Three weeks longer and I might have died!-That's how I felt anyway. So far, my recovery has been so much better than last time and I am very excited to get our lives back in a normal rhythm. Being pregnant really isn't my thing! So far Cannon is an excellent eater and very content. Time will tell what kind of baby we really have on our hands! We love him lots already and are grateful to be a family of four!

Fresh out of the oven- Sorry for the indecent exposure.

Bostyn loving her some little brother- She really truly loves this baby.

Wishing I would have had the time to shower and freshen up before rushing to the hospital at 6am. Darn those contractions! They really know how to spoil things!

Update #3

I had another Doctor's appointment today and am disappointed to report that I am still dilated to a 4, but am now 90% effaced. I am 37 weeks today so I really shouldn't complain. Some girls carry 42 weeks! I guess I was spoiled with my last pregnancy going so early. I have had many sleepless nights over the past week with contractions that were not unbearable, but painful enough to kick me out of bed. I thought those would have progressed me a a little! Oh well.

I have attached a pregnancy questionnaire. It is from my pregnancy with Bostyn. I will do one for this pregnancy when it is over...

This is long and mainly for journaling purposes.

1- Where were you when you first found out you were pregnant? -At our home on ASU East Campus

2-Who was with you? I was in the bathroom, Derek was getting ready for work.

3- How did you find out that you were pregnant? Pregnancy test. I was 1 day late so Derek bought a test and made me wake up before he went to work to take it.

4- What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant? I was in denial.

5- Your Husbands reaction? Derek sat on our bed speechless and in shock.

6- Who was the first person you told? I told Derek I wanted to keep it quiet for a while. A couple hours after we took the test, Derek's Sister in Law Cadi called me to congratulate us. Apparently, Derek had taken a picture of the "stick" and text it to his brother. He isn't much of a secret keeper.

7-Did you plan to get pregnant? Not really. I was not enjoying birth control pills so I stopped taking them and we got pregnant 3 weeks later. Not planned, but not prevented.

8-Was everybody happy for you? I hope so.

9- Did you go out and celebrate? No celebrating. We were both excited but Derek was super nervous and I was concerned with my 2 year plan being thrown out the window. It took a while to get used to the whole idea.

10- Did you want to find out the sex? Of course. There is so much to plan and purchase!

11- What was the sex? A Girl!!! I was surprised and Derek was confused. I don't think he was aware that he was capable of creating a female- being so manly and all!

12-Did anyone throw you a baby shower? Yes.

13- If yes, who? My friend Alicia with the help of my sisters and mother in law.

14- Did you get any outfits at the baby shower that you just knew you weren't going to put on your baby? Yes. Mostly because I got so many and there just aren't enough days in the year!

15- How much weight did you gain? 25lbs.

16- Did you lose all of the weight that you gained? Yes, but my body was never the same!

17- Did you get a lot of stretch marks? Oh Ya!

18- What did you crave the most? Fast food hamburgers and ice cream.

19- Did you crave anything crazy? Nope

20- Who or what got on your nerves the most? Work. Especially towards the end.

21- Were you married at the time? Yes indeed!

22- Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? My pelvis shifted out of place and I could barely walk for 2 weeks and I had to take a prescription for nausea and vomiting every single day of the pregnancy. I even had to have it in my IV during labor and delivery.

23- Where were you when you went into labor? Home. I went into labor at the end of my 35th week so they stopped it with a shot. I went to a Doctor's appointment 2 days later and was almost dilated to a 7 so my Doc sent me to the hospital.

24- Did your water break? My doctor broke it.

26- Did you go early or late? Four weeks early. 36 weeks and 3 days to be exact.

27- Who was in the room with you when you gave birth? Just Derek and the medical staff.

28- Was it video taped? No but I wish I would have had someone else in the room to take pictures right away. Poor Derek was in complete disarray.

29- Did you have any drugs for the pain? My epidural was blissful and perfect!

30-Did you go Vaginal or have a c-section? Vaginal... Hope I never have a c-section. Recovery sounds like no fun and you don't get to hold the baby right away.

31- What was your first reaction after giving birth? I remember being relieved to hear her cry and trying to catch my breath from the pushing and adrenaline rush.

32- How big was the baby(s)? 6lbs. 1 oz.

33- Did your Husband cry? He was "misty eyed". I have yet to see him cry.

34- What did you name the baby(s)? Bostyn Lela Winters

35-Did the name have any significance to you? I loved the name Bostyn and Lela was Derek's Grandmother's name.

36-Does the baby's name fit? We sure think so!

37- Did the baby(s) have any complications? Marconium in the amniotic fluid. They didn't get to place her right on my chest. The pediatricians checked her lungs right away in the room and everything was fine. She was also slightly Jaundice and had to have blood taken every 2 days for a couple weeks.

38- How old is your baby today? 17 months

39- When is the next one(s) coming? Any day!

40- If you could would you do it all over again? I'm doing it now!

Today's Events

First off, this is my right foot. The left looks the same. Never in my life have my ankles been wider than my feet. I am so over this pregnancy!

This morning, Bostyn and I went to the Riparian Preserve to stroll around and feed the "duckys".

We scored a FREE, brand new, Schwinn bike trailer from Derek's coworker. Today was our first time using it. Yes, I at 8+months pregnant, went on a bike ride pulling a trailer. It went better than expected but I need a beachcomber bike. Mountain bikes are not for this mom- having to lean so far forward...and that scrawny little seat!

Bostyn LOVED riding in the bike trailer!

I also went to the hair salon to get a wash and blow dry and hang out with my favorite friend. So, no baby yet, but it was a fun day!

Preggo Update #2

I made it! I am 36 weeks today. I am dilated to a 4 and 85% effaced. I have included an ever so lovely photo for all of you who requested it. This is officially the first pregnancy photo I have ever intentionally taken. It was an awful experience.

So I am now allowed to do whatever I want to kick my labor into full force. Here I go!...

Pregnancy Update

I am exactly 35 weeks today. I went to my doctors appointment, and since I went into labor early with Bostyn, they did a pelvic exam today instead of waiting until next week. I am dilated 2 centimeters and 80% effaced and the baby has dropped. Looks like another 36 week delivery! No complaining here! My doctor told me I need to take it super easy so that I can make it to 36 weeks- that's the safety zone.

For those of you who didn't know or don't remember, I was dilated to a 3 and 100% effaced at 35 weeks and 5 days with Bostyn. I went into labor the next day and they gave me a shot at the hospital to stop it since I wasn't quite 36 weeks. I went to my doctor's appointment 2 days after that and was dilated to a 7 so the doctor followed me to the hospital and she was obviously born that day. My doctor said afterward that I went early either because I worked on my feet everyday the whole pregnancy or because that's just how long my body carries a baby. Since I didn't work a single day of this pregnancy, I officially don't carry babies full term. Once again, not complaining.

So time will only tell exactly when this baby will be here, but I can guarantee it won't be in 5 weeks!
