3 days of crafting fun...

Loads of pictures today...

Instead of posting during the week end, I prefered to craft, and wait to post during the week. I know, don't ask. let's just say I had an urge to stitch and stitch some more.... It gave me great focus ! And that's how things are done...

I found a pattern for a crocheted daffodil, and had to make it as this is my favourite flower. Me and crochet are not best friends at the moment, my hands get tired fast. Cramps and the like. I suppose that's how stitching took over...

As predicted, I finished the birds !!!! Half stitches background was finished Sunday morning, and I did a little bit of the backstitching, but it got boring, so I left it and took... Garden Girl !!! Why? It was a wip closeby... Yesterday morning I was motivated for it again and finished it, including the french knots on the flowers.

I was so motivated that I even made a cushion out of it. It's been a while since I wanted to try this type of cushion. And with this project, it was not only easy, but a must !

You might have noticed that the background made a rectangle, and so any attempt at framing would require lacing, or other techniques so that the borders ould be perfectly aligned. Here, I sewed the fabrics on the edge of the borders. Easy peasy. I've put the birds on my mantle piece, instead of the "Gingerbread Cottage", which is too "winterey".

So as I previously said, I worked on Garden Girl. I have a sort of love/hate relationship with this design. Most of the time I feel it's too naive and childish. But sometimes I find it cute, like right now. And it's nice to stitch it. Would it be the lovely weather we have?

I also started Bee Harmony from Patricia Ann. This is part of "I want to stitch a speciality stitches sampler". I had the choice between a few samplers, but my choice was directed by the fact that this one DBF likes. Well, I had to make a choice anyway....

I hear Lili saying "eek ! bees !" already, but I like them, so delicate in over one stitches... That's how I see i progressed as a stitcher: I didn't have problems with disappearing stitches this time...
Garden Girl and Bee Harmony being 2 very different projects, I will stitch them at the same time (well, switching from one to the other of course !!!).

patternnuts, I'm not really interested in food I can't eat, it defies the whole purpose of it. Of course if you add eyes to make cute amigurumies, well, they just become cute characters. Otherwise, real food is better ;)

Beaucoup de photos aujourd'hui... J'ai simplement garde le week end pour bricoler loin de l'ordi, et donc me voila avec un message massif.

J'ai crochete une jonquille, car c'est ma fleur preferee. Celle-la ne se fanera pas ! Sinon, le crochet et moi ne sommes plus trop amis: j'attrape des crampes tres vite, et donc je ne peux pas crocheter longtemps. Du coup, la broderie reprend le dessus, car la, je peux broder 5 heures d'affilee sans probleme. Enfin, en brodant reellement 5 heures sans pause, je l'ai fait une fois par inadvertance, ca me donnerait des fourmis dans les doigts.

Ce week end j'ai ete tres motivee pour la broderie, donc. Les oiseaux sont non seulement termines (Lutine, j'ai reussi mes predictions!), mais meme devenus coussin !

Le fond en demi points a ete termine Dimanche, et apres un peu de points arriere, la toile m'est tombee des mains, et donc j'ai repris... Garden Girl. Pourquoi? Parce que c'etait l'encours le plus proche !!! Cette petite pause a fait que hier matin j'ai fini totalement les oiseaux, points de noeud compris. Et dans l'apres midi j'ai fait le coussin.

Ca faisait un bout de temps que je voulais essayer de faire ce style de coussin, et ya pas plus simple !! En plus, c'est totalement adapte a ce projet, vu qu'il a des bordures bien definies qui necessite d'etre totalement droit en suivant le modele. Simple avec une machine a coudre !
Maintenant le coussin trone sur ma cheminee. Un peu de Printemps, enfin !!!

Je ne sais pas si j'aime ou je deteste Garden Girl. Ca depend des jours. Parfois je le trouve trop naif et gamin, d'autres juste super mignon. En ce moment, je suis en phase "super mignon", et donc j'apprecie de le broder.

J'ai aussi commence "Bee Harmony" de Patricia Ann, que j'ai achete a K'thylda a Lille, car DBF a dit "c'et beau, prend celui-la". Je vois deja la grimace de Lili parce que ce sont des abeilles, mais je suis assez fiere de moi, car elles ne m'ont pas pose de problemes ce coup-ci, alors que il y a un an c'etait un grand challenge a cause des points qui disparaissaient sous la toile.

Donc en ce moment j'alterne entre Garden Girl et Bee Harmony car ce sont deux projets tres differents, et donc quand j'en ai marre de l'un, je passe a l'autre...

Background growing...

Friday before the big week end... I have to say I'm looking forward to this, 3 days of crafting... But I know I won't do half of what I planned, and perhaps not much crafting at all ! Well, I hope not...

One sure thing is that I have to finish the birds. There is already quite a bit of background, but there is still a lot more to do. Some parts are difficult because of similar colours. You can't see it but the purple is actually 2 purples for exemple. And then there will be the backstitching, hourray....

Patternuts, you are funny. How did you end up with that post??? I'm not keen on making food you can't eat... I don't see the point?

Vendredi avant le week end de 3 jours... J'espere faire plein de trucs, mais en general je finis par ne pas faire la moitie de ce qui est prevu...

En tout cas je vais finir ces oiseuax (a peu pres). J'ai deja fait pas mal du fond, mais il reste encore a faire ! Surtout que c'est difficile avec des couleurs similaires, par exemple le mauve est en fait 2 mauves...

green half stitches?

Show amigurumis, and people go away... how fun... ;)

I'm still stitching (yes, yes!!!!), and thinking about designing again. I'm just so lazy, and there are so many great designs out there I want to stitch... I need more time during the day to do everything I want.... ;) So far I enjoy the half stitches on the birds... I don't mind half stitches, they are actually faster to do than crosses !!!

I just have to plan a different path of stitching, as I don't go back and forth, only forward !

I was wondering if anybody would be interested in buying my little pin roses? could be useful for pinkeep decorations and all? If so, I would put them in my shop.

I bought the latest CrossStitcher (UK) magazine. Mostly because of Margaret Sherry's hedgehogs. And as a bonus there's the "S" squirel from the ABC... The only problem is that the colour references are all in Anchor. Plus the hedgehogs colours are yuck. Oh, and the gift pouch is sort of weird, there is no closing system, so are things bound to fall from it?

I know it's not serious, but I feel like stitching a big lady project, one of Joan Elliott medieval ladies... It's not serious because I should be stitching Cinderella, of course !!! I also feel like stitching a speciality stitches sampler, but I don't have the courage to start... I hope the long week end will help !

Montrez-leur des amigurumis, et elles s'enfuient... quel fun ! ;)

En fait, je brode toujours (si si !!!), et je pense meme me remettre a la creation. Le seul truc est que je suis paresseuse, et en plus il y a tellement de trucs que je voudrais broder, je n'ai aps assez de mes journees pour tout faire !!

Enfin, pour l'instant j'adore toujours mes oiseaux, et broder les demi points c'est facile. Il faut juste penser qu'au lieu de revenir au point de depart de la rangee (je brode mes croix par rangs de demi points), je dois prevoir ou je vais directement.

Je me demandais si ca vous interesserait d'acheter mes petites roses en epingle? Pour mettre sur les pinkeeps et tout ca? Si oui, je les mettrai dans ma boutique.

J'ai achete le CrossStitcher du mois, pour les petits herissons de Margaret Sherry, et justement c'etait la lettre "S" avec les ecureils. Le probleme est que les couleurs sont en Anchor, et les herissons ont une couleur pastel beurk. De l'impro en perspective...

De plus, je me sens l'envie de broder une des grandes dames de Joan Elliott, ce qui n'est pas serieux vu que je devrais continuer Cinderella. Et j'aimerais aussi faire un sampler avec des points speciaux, mais la c'est le courage pour commencer qui manque. Peut etre que le week end de 3 jours qui nous attend m'aidera...

Crosses done ! And important questions...

It's all in the title, the crosses are done, on to the half stitches... It's hard no to turn those into crosses though. And so far... it's hard to see my half stitches, as they are the same colour of one of the blended purples, and close to those crosses !!!

Yesterday I had a look at my stats, and th results are quite dramatic. Few comments is one thing, but no visitors? What happened? One thing that is difficult to estimate is the number of people reading posts from Bloglines and other rss readers. If people are using these, they are reading posts everyday, but it doesn't appear in blog visits. Does anybody know if it's possible to check those? Any service?

I'm thinking about selling stuff again. I like making amigurumis, but I can't keep them all. Remember I opened a Dawanda shop last year?

I managed to sell nothing. How are people selling so much on Etsy? I need pointers.

I feel I'm proposing the same thing, so it should work, but maybe people don't even know I exist? Or should I sell something else? Would you pay to have my freebies (just an exemple) or a crochet pattern?

I don't want to put too much effort in this and once again, sell nothing ;) Or maybe make things on demand?

Toutes les croix sont faites, a nous les demi-points. Pour le moment on ne voit pas grand chose, vu que les demi-points que j'ai faits sont de la meme couleur que certaines croix mauves, et en plus a leur viccinite !!!

En regardant les stats du site hier, j'ai eu une sacree deception. Avoir peu de commentaires, c'est une chose, mais avoir moitie moins de visiteurs que l'an dernier... mais qu'est ce qui se passe? En plus il faut compter avec les visiteurs fideles qu'on n'arrive pas a compter, car ils utilisent les rss... Si quelqu'un connait un moyen de comptabiliser ces visites, faites-moi signe !

Je pense aussi a vendre certains de mes trucs. J'aime faire les amigurumis, mais je ne veux pas qu'ils envahissent la place !!! Vous souvenez-vous que j'avais ouvert une boutique Dawanda l'an dernier? J'ai vendu que dalle. Comment les gens font-ils pour vendre autant sur Etsy? J'ai besoin de conseils.

Est-ce parce que personne ne sait que j'existe? Ou ce que je propose n'interesse pas? Payeriez-vous pour mes grilles de point de croix, ou pour l'explication de mes bonshommes en crochet?
Je ne veux pas mettre trop d'effort la dedans si une fois encore, je ne vends rien ;) Ou devrais-je faire des trucs a la commission?

Le travail du week end

First week end really looking like Spring... But that doesn't prevent us from stitching, right?

"Pretty in Pink" from Brightneedle was started and finished in less than 24h. It was mostly done on Saturday afternoon. Lili's theory that I would not want to stitch the birds didn't matter here. It was too fast a stitch ;)

But I have to say I don't really like this design for some reason. I used colours I like, ok, but I feel the girls heads are too weird, especially the middle one, which is so faint we can't really see her. I tried using darker colours and all, but... no. I guess I just don't like sampler/naive kind of designs these days.

You might have noticed that instead of stitching the original design, which is square, I made a rectangle so that it would fit a pouch. So I used different motifs from the pinkeep and the fob to populate the empty space.

Of course, once I was finished, I went back to the birds, stitching mostly greens this time, and I also started a certain amigurumi cat for a certain somebody.

You might have noticed that I changed the picture of the title of the blog, after all, snow isn't the season anymore !!!!

Premier week end de vrai Printemps... mais ca n'empeche pas de broder, n'est-ce pas?

"Pretty in Pink" de Brightneedle a debute et s'est acheve en moins de 24h, le plus gros a ete fait samedi apres midi. La theorie de Lili comme quoi je ne voudrais plus broder les oiseaux ne marche plus, j'ai brode trop vite ;)

Pourtant, je n'aime pas ce design. Je ne sais pas pourquoi, j'ai choisi les couleurs qui me plaisent et tout, mais je trouve que la tete des filles est bizarre, et meme celle du milieu on la voit a peine. J'ai pourtant essaye d'utiliser des couleurs plus foncees, mais je crois que je n'aime pas ces motifs naifs de marquoirs en ce moment.

J'ai transforme le design, qui originellement etait carre, pour qu'il soit plus compatible avec la pochette que je vais faire. Et donc j'ai du prendre les motifs et les replacer.

Bien sur, une fois fini, je suis retournee sur les oiseaux, brodant surtout du vert cette fois-ci. Et j'ai aussi commence un chat en crochet.

Vous avez surement remarque que l'image du titre avait change: il etait plus que temps de se debarrasser de la neige !!!!

A bit of darker side...

Well, a bit of purple and black now... Aquasize and a bit of tiredness make me a slow stitcher... And I feel my interest in the project fall a bit. Well, it's ok in the morning, but in the evening... I have the hardest time concentrating on crafts. And the paradox is that evenings are the time I have more time for crafting !!!!

So I "kitted" "Pretty in pink" from Brightneedle. The idea is to use it for a pouch. But in its 80x80 stitches form, it would be too big, so I will have to leave out the baskets and flowers. I had to choose my own colours too, because the Anchor->DMC conversion I have doesn't fit that pattern, and there is no way to replace the overdyed threads. So it will end up as a surprise.

The question of the week is about blending and how we manage them. This question is critical for me at the moment, as the purple is blue/purple on the picture. The way I do it is that I try to stitch most of the blended colour in one go, and keep the leftover on a sorting cardboard, with the symbol of the colour on it. Of course the cut threads of the kit make it easy to get the same lengh of threads, etc...

Lili, I have a Clover cutter too, I never use it, too much sheering... From the list Ash sent of items allowed in a plane, apparently 4inches blades sharp scissors are you usual size medium scissors. I have to say I was very surprised to see that. Now you can bring sharps, but no gel or liquid.... It's a mad world...

Ash, I've been to the US a few times, from coast to coast... I think I've visited most of it, cities, National Parks, small towns... Besides, I think New York is one of the most "european" american cities. I guess if I can survive Oxford street (London) on a Saturday afternoon, I can survive New York, crowd wise ;)

I'm not really keen on reenacting "The Wizard of Oz", especially since my worst fear is probably strong winds ;)

Zohrah, what about a purple cat? What would I get for it? ;)

Bon, un peu de mauve et de noir... L'aquagym et la fatigue me rendent lente.... En plus, je perds un peu la motivation pour broder ce truc. Je suis ok le matin, mais le soir, j'ai du mal a me concentrer, ce qui est paradoxal vu que c'est le soir que j'ai du temps pour crafter.

Donc j'ai rassemble les trucs pour broder "Pretty in Pink" de Brightneedle, pour le mettre sur une trousse de brodeuse. Mais le format 80x80 est trop grand pour la taille de la trousse, je vais donc jarter les paniers et fleurs. En plus j'improvise les couleurs, car entre les conversions Anchor->DMC qui ne correspondent pas et les fils varies que je n'ai pas... j'ai decide de faire "a ma mode"

La question de la semaine est a propos de l'organisation des "blends", ce qui est essentiel pour moi en ce moment, vu que le mauve de l'image est en fait un melange bleu/mauve. Perso, j'essaye de broder le plus en un coup, et le reste est mis sur un carton a trous, avec le symbole. Je dois dire que le fait que les fils sont deja coupes dans le kit est une grande aide.

Lili, j'ai aussi un clover, que je n'utilise pas, car ca "dechire" le fil... Et apparemment, on peut emporte meme des ciseaux de 4inches, ce qui est la taille moyenne des ciseaux... et ca fait peur. Maintenant on peut emporter des trucs coupants et pas les liquides? le monde est fou...

Ash, j'ai deja ete aux USA quelques fois, un peu partout... et donc j'ai vu a la fois les grandes villes, la campagne, le far West, etc... et en plus New York est une des villes les plus europeennes de l'Amerique. Et si je survis a Oxford street (Londres) un samedi apres midi, je dois survivre a New York, niveau foule...

En plus je n'ai pas trop envie de me retrouver dans le Magicien d'Oz, surtout que j'ai horreur des vents forts !!!

More white and yellow

I know... I stitched the rest of the white flowers, and the yellow hearts. It's not much. What I like most about this design is that it's like a painting with needle, and there's a sense of peace stitching it.

Lutine, I'm not a fan of huge projects, I loose patience (I started Cinderella.... ages ago) and I feel all I can do with the finished piece is framing. Not fun ;)

Lili: what shopping list?

Ash, thanks for the links. Apparently, not only can I stitch in the plane, but I can even bring my small embroidery scissors !!!! There are some fun items on the list... "Toy transformer robot"???? But no mention of needles... other than knitting and crochet ones. Now we see Americans interests....

And don't worry, I'm not exactly a country girl, I faced crowds, like in London and such, and it won't be my first time in New York either !!!

Zohrah: what colour for the cat?

Chiloe: turning the plane to Florida isn't a bad idea, but DBF won't be too happy, his mind is set on New York, as if the rest of the US isn't worth seeing (his opinion, not mine).

Je sais... J'ai juste brode le reste des fleurs blanches, et le jaune. C'est pas beaucoup. Ce que j'aime dans ce modele est le fait que c'est comme une peinture a l'aiguille, et c'est reposant a faire.

Lutine, je n'aime pas les grands projets, je perds patience (Cendrillon est toujours en travaux depuis des annees) et je ne vois pas quoi en faire apres a part l'encadrer.

Ash, merci pour les liens. Apparemment on peut broder dans l'avion, et meme emporter ses ciseaux pointus de broderie (les petits). On voit bien l'interet des americains en matiere de crafts: les aiguilles de tricot et de crochet sont mentionnees, mais pas les aiguilles normales !!!! Et il y a des trucs marrants dans la liste, c'est vachement important de savoir qu'on peut emporter son jouet "Transformer" dans l'avion !!!!

Et ne t'inquiete pas, je ne viens pas exactement de ma campagne, j'ai l'habitude des grandes villes comme Londres, et je suis deja allee a New York.

Chiloe: detourner l'avion vers la Floride n'est pas une mauvaise idee, mais DBF ne sera pas tres content, il veut voir New York et rien d'autre...

Finally some stitching

I stitched most of the middle chickadee last week, but I stitched the rest yesterday evening, so you can see it's a quick stitch ! I love Dimension's 3 colours charts. Really clear to read.

I decided to stitch crosses first, then half stitches, otherwise it might be a bit confusing as I tend to stitch crosses by rows of half stitches back and forth... ;)

Now, something really funny is happening on this blog. Come on, be honnest : most of you don't care about amigurumis, right? It's just that comments on crochet posts are sparse, but people comment on my Sarah Kay finnish even a week after I posted it !!!

I have to admit I don't know what I will do of Sarah Kay... I don't feel like framing her... but I don't want to make "yet another bag". And talking about bags, I tested the Curly bag on travel, and it's really nice. Just the handles are a bit too big, but I can shorten them. I should also make a little tie thing at the bottom of the bag to tie it to the suitcase. More later. I made that bag so big it can also be used as a shopping bag. Amazing.

DBF has decided we should go to New York for a week in August, and of course I will follow !!!! But as a crafter, questions come to mind:
- What can you bring in the plane nowadays? No stitching I guess, but what about crochet hooks? Minimal size?
- Where are the needlecraft shops in Manhattan?
- Any practical advice?

Si j'ai brode la mesange du milieu pendant les vacances, le reste a ete fait hier. Autant dire que c'est un truc facile a broder !!! J'aime la grille en 3 couleurs specifique a Dimension... Super facile a lire.

J'ai decide de faire les croix d'abord, puis les demi points, car comme je fais mes croix par lignes de demi points, ca rique d'etre confusionnant.

J'observe un truc ters amusant sur ce blog. Allons, avouez, vous vous fichez pas mal des petits bonhommes en crochet !!!! La preuve: quelques rares commentaires sur eux, alors que Sarah Kay recolte des commentaires encore une semaine apres le post !!!

J'ai toujours aucune idee de ce que je vais faire de Sarah Kay d'ailleurs, j'ai pas envie de l'encadrer, et je ne veux pas encore faire un sac. Et parlant de sac, le sac Curly a eu son test "voyage", et a reussi. Les poignees sont juste un peu longues, mais c'est pas dur a raccourcir, et je dois faire un lien pour attacher a la valise. sinon, c'est assez grand pour faire ses courses ce sac-la !!!

DBF organise un voyage d'une semaine a New York en Aout, et donc en tant que crafteuse... j'ai des questions a vous poser:
- Qu'est ce qu'on peut vraiment emporter dans la cabine maintenant? Je suppose que je ne pourrai pas prendre de broderie, mais des crochets? et quelle taille minimale?
- Ou sont les boutiques de broderie dans Manhattan?
- D'auters conseils?
