Palestine Relief Fund - please help

*This is a sticky. Scroll down for recent posts. *

*****

You read the news, you watch their sufferings on tv and the net. Your heart bleeds for them. Now give them a hand, HELP. No amount is too little.

*****

The following is from Elviza's blog.

If your heart bleeds for the atrocities bestowed on Gaza by the Israelis, do lend them a hand. Let us part with whatever we can afford to help Palestinians in their time of grief.

Mercy Malaysia has, on 30th December 2008, formed an Emergency Response Assessment Team to face the humanitarian crisis in Gaza strip. The team has been promptly dispatched to Egypt led by President, Datuk Dr. Jemilah Mahmood and Exco Member Norazam Ab. Samah.

The air strike and ground offensive on Gaza - as reported by AlJazeera - have killed more than 700 Palestinians, 219 of which are children. More than 3000 have been wounded.

Therefore, Mercy Malaysia appeals to generous Malaysians to send it cash donations. Contributions will support Mercy Malaysia to procure emergency surgical kits, medicines and hospital equipments to help the hospitals in Gaza.

  • Cheque is to be made payable to “MERCY MALAYSIA” and addressed to Mercy Malaysia, Level 2, Podium Block, City Point, Kompleks Dayabumi, Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, 50050 Kuala Lumpur.
  • Cash donations can be made via on-line transmission or deposit at CIMB Bank Account No: 1424-000-6561053.
  • Donation form can be downloaded from here.
  • Further enquiries are to be directed to +603-22733999 or info@mercy.org.my

Let us make a difference by whatever little we have. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your generosity.

Spread the words. Let's HELP.

final week

Are you a Creme Brulee or a Jello?
Can I be Creme Jello?

I want the best of both.

Penat.
Almost done but I have just a few things to settle with the formalities, and yeah probably should start that new draft I was planning with my supervisors... and I reaaaallllly should start some serious packing. Tapi penat!!! Bila dah penat, by Asar (that's close to 6pm) rasa dah nak pengsan, rasa tak boleh nak celik, but I need to lift my butts and go meet up with different groups of friends. I'm not complaining. These are the gorgeous people who made my life beautiful here, so I'm trying my best to keep up with lunch dates & dinner dates. I don't know whether I'll get any chance to meet them after this. I'm gonna miss them heaps!

Dalam duk kalut2 nak keluar, lepas gosok tudung the other day ( ni pasal la I don't like tudung bawal ok, sikit2 nak kena gosok!), I tried to reach one piece of cloth yang dah kena tindih with tons of plastic bags filled with barang pesanan rakan taulan. Then suddenly one plastic bag fell right next to the iron that was still quite hot. The bag melted instantly! Now I have to either find a way to clean up the iron with DF Souvenir plastic bag pattern stuck on the surface OR buy a new iron to replace that old iron (the iron belongs to accommodation office). Hampeh, duit lagi! Can someone please give me tips on how to clean melted plastic off an iron? PLEASE.

Oh, she's not a Malaysian, ingat orang Malaysia je ke makan durian?
Aku rasa sesak nafas everytime buka fridge.

Libra Odd Spot #262
Chocolate contains the same chemical that your brain produces when you fall in love - phenylethylamine.

Of late, I don't like chocolate anymore (adakah tu tanda2 penuaan?)... and I'm not in love. Now where else can I get that phenylethylamine doses?

I don't fancy chocs but I need something sweet, so I bought this.
Ferrero garden. no choc.

Go join the march to show your protest. I am protesting against Israeli bombing & invasion of Gaza but at the same time I don't believe that all Jews support Zionism, there are peace loving Jews around us. Do not generalise.

sleeping satellite

I almost missed my final full moon from this kiwiland. Thanks to D who texted me to go and look up the sky. D lives in a tent 400km down south now, so she gets to check on all the interesting things up in the sky every night. It's a cloudy night over here. Lucky I managed to get these shots before the clouds finally hid the moon.

*****

I blame you for the moonlit sky
and the dream that died
with the eagles' flight
I blame you for the moonlit nights
when I wonder why
are the seas still dry?
don't blame this sleeping satellite

Did we fly to the moon too soon
did we squander the chance
in the rush of the race
the reason we chase is lost in romance
and still we try
to justify the waste
for a taste of man's greatest adventure

have we lost what it takes to advance?
have we peaked too soon?
if the world is so green
then why does it scream under a blue moon
we wonder why
If the earth's sacrificed
for the price of it's greatest treasure

and when we shoot for the stars
what a giant step
have we got what it takes
to carry the weight of this concept
or pass it by like a shot in the dark
miss the mark with a sense of adventure

Lyrics - Sleeping Satellite - Tasmin Archer

I'm thinking of spending a night under the warm summer sky, on cricket field, perhaps after the last moon quarter when the night sky is darker, to spot stars, constellations or if lucky some shooting stars before I go home for good. Sape nak join?

Anyone?

Jom la...

oh love...

Copied & pasted here from http://www.stuff.co.nz/4811526a12.html

I think this is so sweet and innocent.
It must be very scary for the parents if the kids really get their way to Africa!

German children elope

Wednesday, 07 January 2009

Love is ... trying to elope to Africa with your sweetheart for a wedding under the burning sun - when you are still at primary school.

That was the quest of two children aged six and seven who had thought of almost everything - right down to suntan lotion, sunglasses and the five-year-old sister of the bride-to-be, who was brought along to "witness" their nuptials on the other side of the world.

With their suitcases on wheels and sandwiches of chicken paste and processed cheese, the trio - sensibly bundled up against the minus-six temperature in their homeland - travelled from Langenhagen, near Hanover, in Germany, in their bid to reach the airport more than 50 kilometres away.

It was barely light on New Year's Day when, fuelled by passion and a documentary they had seen about the wildlife of Kenya the night before, the lovebirds and the witness set out on mission impossible. They had no passports, no tickets and no idea really where Africa was.

"The two children were determined to tie the knot under the African sun after seeing a nature documentary together," said police spokesman Holger Jureczko in Hanover. The pair, identified only as Mika and Anna-Lena, "are very much in love and decided to get married in Africa, where it is warm, taking with them as a witness Anna-Lena's little sister, aged five".

The idea for the romantic trip began when Mika told the two girls about his holiday in Italy while their families celebrated New Year's Eve together. As the adults drank champagne, Mika and Anna-Lena watched the lions cavorting on the Serengeti and hatched their plan.

As the first dawn of 2009 broke, and while their parents slept, they left their house and walked a kilometre up the road to a tram stop, from where they travelled to Hanover's central station. Waiting for a train to the airport, they attracted the attention of a guard, who contacted police.

"What struck us was that the little ones were completely on their own and that they had lots of swimming gear with them," said Jureczko.

He described Mika and Anna-Lena as "sweethearts".

Anna-Lena told the German television station RTL: "We wanted to get married and so we just thought: 'Let's go there.' "

Asked why they failed to let their parents know, the children said they thought they would not be gone for long.

Anna-Lena's mother, who was not identified, said she had known nothing of the plan. "I'm still in a state of shock. I thought, 'I'm playing a part in a bad movie.' "

The police told the trio it would be difficult to get to Africa without money or tickets and instead gave them a tour of the police station before handing them over to their parents.

S.w.e.e.t! When I was their age, I too wanted to elope with my then sweetheart (kecik-kecik dah gatal!), we wanted to go a way and live on an island because we loved beaches (my tadika trip asyik pegi pantai jer) but we did think of the what ifs... what if the place we go to have no tv? what if we have no money to buy chickadees and ice cream? penting semua tu kan. So, tak jadi elope.
