A Little in Love
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: A Little in Love (1980)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) Do you believe you can be a little in love? Or is romance an all-or-nothing proposition for you? There are so many kinds of love. Yes, you can be a little in love. Real, true love should be all or nothing, though, and hopefully reciprocated. Romance... I'm not a romantic, and neither was Joe. What we had was laughter and fun, and it was genuine.
2) Cliff Richard sings that he knows it's been a long time since you had fun. Is that true? When have you recently had a really good time? What were you doing? I had a great time out to dinner on Thursday with friends. I had an amazingly great time at my granddaughter's wedding shower last weekend.
3) Cliff was born in India when it was still part of the UK. When he was 8, his family relocated to Tilbury, an English port town. Have you ever lived near the sea? I live an hour from the Gulf and two hours from the Atlantic. I also once lived 200 yards from Lake Erie (which looks like a sea).
4) In 1958, Cliff became a star in England. He was so influential that young John Lennon said he dreamed someday the Beatles would be as big as Cliff Richard. Yet for some reason, he was never as popular here in the US. Before today, had you ever heard of Cliff Richard? Yes! I'm a '60s girl.
5) 1980 was Cliff's most successful year stateside. Both "A Little in Love" and his duet with Olivia Newton-John, "Suddenly," made the Top 10. Do you have a favorite Olivia Newton-John song? No. I actually never cared for her songs. I Honestly Love You almost makes me barf. Sorry!
6) Cliff was once "a little in love" himself. He had a high-profile romance with British pro tennis player Sue Barker. They contemplated marriage, but in his memoir, Cliff admitted he wasn't ready to commit the rest of his life to her. Cliff never married, but Sue went on to wed landscape gardener Lance Tankard. Have you ever employed a gardener? Or do you handle all the yard work yourself? Unless you call a lawn service a gardener, no. I loathe yard work. Not my thing at all. I do appreciate beautiful yards and am happy to leave it to those who love it.
7) In 1980, when we were enjoying "A Little in Love" on the radio, Macaulay Culkin was born. He became famous for the Home Alone franchise. Have you seen any Home Alone movies? Only the first one. A Christmas staple.
8) 1980 also gave us the Post-It Note. Today they are available in a variety of sizes and colors, but the original 4"x4" canary yellow Post-Its are still the best seller. Would we find Post-Its in your home or office right now? Yes, they are in my little portable desk, in my kitchen drawer, and back in the workroom.
9) Random question – You're having a crummy day. Nothing is going right. You run into a casual friend in the grocery store aisle. As you chat, do you think your mood would be obvious? Or could you successfully put on a happy face? I blessedly rarely have a bad day, but my face usually speaks for itself. Someone who knows me would know something is up. A casual friend might not.
Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
PS: Because I know some of you offered prayers for my ultrasound test and also for my friends, Anne and Paul...
The ultrasound found nothing amiss. Praise God.
My friend, Anne, decided to wait until today to join her husband at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. He got settled in and was feeling good about being there. We are going out to breakfast this morning, and then I will take her to Tampa.
Thank you for your prayers!!
Unfortunately, I wear my face as well, LOL. I agree that song just grates on my nerves, LOL. Wishing you a beautiful day my friend.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard Cliff Richard. I played the song and don't remember it either. I should though if it was around in 1980. I did like Olivia Newton John though. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful for your ultrasound results! Will be praying for your friends.
So glad your ultrasound results were good! Praying for your friends.
ReplyDeleteI will keep those prayers coming, Terri. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteLMAO re. your reaction to that song! I think (that by) working in hospitality I learned early on to put on a mask. Even now, I'm careful what I allow most folks to see.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update on the ultrasound!
Post-It notes and zip loc bags are two things we did not have in my childhood but I depend on both every day. I really do. Both products have made my life easier and more organized.
ReplyDeleteI am SO THANKFUL your ultra sound gave good results!!
I know you were in love with Joe. Glad your mammogram ultrasound went well. ♥
ReplyDeleteAgree with you about that Olivia Newton John song
ReplyDeleteI have lived in a couple of costal towns, for a while I lived a 10 minute walk from the beach.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know until now that Cliff Richard wasn't that popular in the US. I know so many of his songs and I always think that he is the English version of Mariah Carey with all of his Christmas songs. hehehe
So happy to hear your ultrasound test was negative! And I will keep your friends in my thoughts and prayers. Oh dear, you didn't like Olivia Newton-John? Well, I can honestly say I only really ever watched her in Grease with John Travolta, and I loved them both in that, but that was pretty much the extent of it. That was a classic. Home Alone is a good one too, but we lean more toward A Christmas Story with the boy Ralph. Everyone says he looks like our Benton did as a kid. "You'll shoot your eye out" is a favorite line. I've never lived in a coastal town either, but live close to either coast of FLorida like you do, and we once lived hear Lake Erie also, when we lived in Willoughby Hills, Ohio. The only thing I remember was that when it snowed, we got that lake effect snow from the lake, and that was a LOT of snow! I hope you have a lovely rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeletePraise God that all went well with your ultrasound!! I'm so glad Paul is liking where he's at. They will continue to be in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI'm told I wear my emotions on my sleeve too. Guess it's because I'm Irish. lol
ReplyDeleteSo happy your ultrasound had good results. May everything stay well with you.
Blessings.
Rejoicing over your good report from the ultrasound!!! Will keep your friends lifted up in prayer! I have never heard of Cliff but did like Olivia! lol
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update on you and your friends! Yay for a good report!!!
ReplyDeleteI actually love post-it notes! I have them in various places throughout the house and in my office at work!
I can't function without post it notes! I keep them in my purse, at my desk, in the kitchen junk drawer, in the car....
