This is is book 1 in a new series, from Ms Michaels, A Vampire’s Thirst reminded me of Ms. Michaels 'A wolf's Hunger' series, but in this series it's the Vampire that is caught in a frenzy to find the woman who is making his blood boil.
We have the typical ingredients for a good paranormal bookboyfriend Alpha Male, mega rich (centuries of business deal's) handsome and charming. Ms. Michaels has a female character that although is in need of rescue, she's not a damsel in distress...she's a ...oops not telling, I don't do spoiler reviews.
Victor Strong, ancient Vampire loses his control when the tight control bursts and he drinks from humans after centuries of abstinence.
With the craving for blood, and other darker, more enticing desires, rapidly growing out of control, Victor suddenly is in the eyes of the paparazzi and the paranormal Directive who police the paranormal community. Victor finds his Bloods-Mate and she's in trouble. The story is a race of trying to keep his mate safe, and find out who's behind the hunt for her life.
if you have read most of Ms Michaels back catalogue, you may like myself find some familiarity with the storyline, but it's an enjoyable read and the hotness factor is at the usual high range.
I liked it, and I give it a solid 3.5 stars....more

Mia decides that becoming a Blood Courtesan is key to her paying her loans for medical school, not an uncommon reason for young girls for becoming one, but she also has an ulterior motive that the vampires must not find out. Being a studious girl Mia is not ready for the aggressive vampire Gideon, so she leaves her first 'ball' but on the way home she is offered a lift home by the vampire who intervened with Gideon's brash come-on.
Renato, Italian, dark, suave and much more refined than Gideon doesn't frighten Mia as much, in fact she feels an attraction towards him and accepts the lift back.
Renato is intrigued by Mia too, and offers her a contract that she can't refuse. It was only meant to be three nights, a business transaction... But sometimes fate and what the heart wants, override the logic. Mia is falling for Renato, will Renato listen to his heart? Or will his rival Gideon see an opportunity for past slights in the form of the Innocent Mia?
The storyline had a good flow, I enjoyed the authors take on Mia's reasons for her focus on her medical goals. Rival vampires Gideon and Renato gave the storyline some suspense and action when they inevitably fight over Mia. Overall it was another great story from this Blood Courtesan series ...more

This is the 4th Book I have read in this Blood Courtesan series, they are fast becoming addictive. Piper was a great lead character, she was sassy, brave and able to look after herself, Working as a PI little does she know that while on an assignment in Egypt she was cursed! She knows that she is being targeted, but she can't figure out why, so she enlists the help of the Vampires.
The Vampire who assists the Police department in Supernatural cases is the vampire that finally tries to help. Sebastian feels the need to protect Piper, both because of his honour and also the draw her blood has for him. There are some twists in the story that will give both of them some issues to face, but it was a very enjoyable storyline. The pair grow close while on their mission to find out what is after Piper, not even the Vampire Council will keep him from keeping her safe.
Piper strong to the end isn't a damsel in distress, she loves Sebastian and she will fight to keep him safe, even if it means putting herself in the firing range. When she works out who is targeting her, she gets a bit of a shock, but not even a prophecy will stop her from ruling her own destiny... Will it be one that includes Sebastian? Well, you will have to read it to find out....more

Well this was a quick read, I started at lunch time (30 minutes) then completed the book tonight, couldn't put it down. I have read 2 other stories from this series, one being Escape: Flora and the second of that series Freedom: Flora Both are great, the rest of this series is going on my TBR list, I have one more to read next which I hope is as good as the ones I have just read.
So what did I think to Stella's book? - Italy, Vampires and Artists (Great Combination!)... well Monica La Porta has captured me as a fan with her other books that were based in Rome (A serious bucket list destination for me) and since its the other side of the world I will have to be content in visiting it via Ms. La Porta's books.
Stella was an easy character to like, an artist who has fallen on hard times (both things I have experience at!) Italy has a lot of history, the monarchy has been disbanded but the bloodlines continue, some prosper and some do not, Stella is at the end of the line, about to be kicked out of her ancestral home, because it is in dire need of repair, and she has no money to pay for it to be repaired... Unless she becomes a blood courtesan, and although she is very wary she puts herself up for Auction.
The Winner of her Auction? Well he was a Vampire that although Ancient, had not lost his humanity and I loved his honourable personality. You will see why I came to this conclusion when you read the book, but I do not want to give anything away.
The book has action, suspense and romance, everything to give the reader an escape into a HEA. I hope that there will be more about Stella and her Vampire....more

With the authors Scottish hu4.5stars This was a quick but enjoyable read, it reminded me of the of bodice ripping romances I used to sneak off my mum. With the authors Scottish humour seeping into her innocent but determined character Flora and our Vampire with a conscience, who spots Flora riding on his land. And then finds her applying to be his Courtesan for his stay in Scotland. The story reminded of a few of my of my favourite films Highlander in some scenes I pictured Gothic mansions, wild moors and heather covered views and brooding skies. And Max reminded me of Carlisle Cullen with his reticence for hurting humans for food, I was quite sad when I got to the end. I could have easily read another books worth of the characters ad their journey to their HEA...more
