Reflection Essay

Overall, I’ve enjoyed this English class. I would say it was a lot better than I expected it to be. It has
greatly changed my ability to write meaningful papers related to technical communication by giving a
variety of assignment relating to all aspect of technical communication. My original goal for this course
was to improve my ability to write better papers, essay, and report. I can happily say it did help me
improve my ability to write better. I do wish I had this course as an in-person style class. I think this class
would have been even better because you can easily get faster feedback rather that waiting on class
mate to finish the assignment at the last minute, but what can you do when there is a pandemic going
on and you have to stay at home. The only thing I would change overall is to choose a topic you are most
interested in, because most writers can write very good papers on subjects that they like to read about.
This is mostly because I can get writer’s block fast, because my brain like to simplify large 15 to 30-page
research reports in about a page or so. I do get why we had to choose a specific topic from a list because
it pushes use to write outside of our comfort zones. Overall, I wouldn’t want to change too much about
this class. One of my assignments that I was the proudest of was the Instruction Test assignment. In this
assignment we were task in creating an instruction set and see if a user can use this instruction without
getting lost or frustrated. In this assignment we had to choose a task that we know how to do, which is
my strong suit in writing. This assignment was the most fun to create and I had no problem completing
it. I also like the other assignments as well because they provide the concept on writing for a major
corporation on subject relevant to them. It also helps you to be prepared for a job where you might
have to write reports for your supervisor or upper management. I would add an assignment based on a
response from a high up about a certain research project like the white paper assignment to see how to
formally respond to what they thought of the report.

On this website are most of the assignments I did for this course relevant to the creation of this website.
Each assignment has a rough draft with changes marked, and the final draft with the changes made. I’ve
also included a Document Development Exposition (DDE) that goes over how each piece went from
rough draft to final draft. The purpose of these documents is to show how I’ve learned and used the
core concepts of this course. I am very proud of all the work I did for this course and the concepts it
taught me. I am happy to share all of the progress that I made with you, so you can experience the
changes I have made.
