While most of its contemporaries were delving into complex, heavy symphonic rock, Sandeman took a sophisticated detour, delivering a collection of Psychedelic Folk and Soft Prog tracks sung entirely in English.

Behind this "studio-only" project lies the creative duo of Andrea Sacchi — a noted guitarist and composer in the Italian library music scene — and Laura Giordano. Together, they crafted an album characterized by shimmering acoustic guitars, melodic flute passages, and a hazy, dreamlike production. The record echoes the fragile beauty of British folk-rock acts like Mellow Candle or the pastoral, whimsical charm of early Genesis (Trespass era). From the melancholic atmosphere of "Ice Rocks" to the folk-pop sensibilities of "Blue Label", this album is a mandatory listen for collectors seeking the softer, more poetic side of the 1970s Italian scene.

Large Canadian ensemble, centered around young priest and artistic director of the Editions RM label André Dumont.Dumont wanted to work on a Xian concept album, so he gathered several local talents and musicians of Editions RM and recorded this nowadays rare LP, which opens with the fantastic organ-laden dark ''Ouverture'' and then slowly moves into conventional Psychedelic Pop and Folk Rock, served basically by the acoustic guitar/strings, flute, piano lines and the French religious lyrics, flavored also by some trumpet and rural percussion.Overall this goes into mellow Folk Rock with sparse, grandiose organ and smooth arrangements in a rather conservative Quebec Prog Folk style, which works quite well. The late '70s found Turkey in an economic slump, and there was a huge rise in political violence. Baris, who so often put out collections of singles, rose to the occasion by spending 6 months holed up with his longtime backing band the Kurtalan Ekspres. The result was this studio album of Anatolian bummer psychedelia, often unfairly overlooked because it came out in the rather un-cosmic year of 1979, but also considered his best work by many. Yep, there are still electrified versions of Turkish folk songs, and the spaceshot ARPs and Korgs of '2023' are here too, but dont expect a happy swing around the ceiling of a planetarium. The real star of the album is the keyboard player, whose name translates to Sword Agent. 'Yeni Bir Gun' is viciously funky and brilliantly arranged, with tidbits stolen out of the latest disco hits, and lean, mean synthesizers that emerge from the beats like carbonated bubbles. Melancholy maqams & catastrophic Korgs collide when the Turkish psych master glides unflinchingly into the grim late '70s!!
