Minor characters
Aside from the playable characters in the game, the setting of Deadlock also features a series of minor characters, usually mentioned in headlines from The New York Oracle, the backgrounds of heroes or the visual novels.
Direct Relations

Shelly Fisher is Bebop's creator. She is a widowed junkyard attendant who built Bebop, thus relying on Bebop for support in paying for her treatment. Johann Geist Jr. is her doctor.[1]
The Geists
[edit | edit source]Johann Geist
[edit | edit source]Born in 1805 and dying in 1880, Johann Geist was a German painter and the husband of Jeanne Geist.[1] 50 years before the Ritual, the Paradox Organisation stole one of Johann's paintings.[2][3][4]
Walter Geist
[edit | edit source]The son of Johann and Lady Geist. Born in 1850 and died sometime in the 1900s.[1]
Johann Geist (Jr.)

The grandson of Lady Geist and the doctor of Shelly Fisher.[1]
The Arroyos

Carlos Arroyo
[edit | edit source]A Community organiser in Spanish Harlem. Possibly looking to run for mayor.[5]
Sophia Arroyo
[edit | edit source]A young woman who studies under Dynamo in Columbia University. She works with
Wraith to fund her tuition.[5]
Manny Arroyo
[edit | edit source]Sophia's younger brother. He's a fan of Kelvin and his books.[6][7]
Marla
[edit | edit source]Marla is Dynamo's wife. They have been married for 31 years.[8] She bakes Dynamo key lime pies despite him being incapable of eating them and made enough for Dynamo to share with his team if they win.[9][10]
Agent Marlowe

Marlowe is an OSIC Agent.[11][12] He also is a friend of Venator.[13]
The Troubadour
[edit | edit source]- Main article: The Troubadour
"The Troubadour" is the name given by media for a serial killer who commited a killing spree in a town in central Illinois. He was confronted by the town's sheriff, Holliday, but he managed to escape by turning into a murder of crows and flying away, although Holliday still has been looking for him. Both she and the New York Oracle speculate that The Troubadour is flying from Champaign–Urbana to New York.[11]
Nashala Dion
[edit | edit source]Nashala Dion is a Djinn ambassador, who has employed Mirage to work as her bodyguard and companion. Mirage enjoys Nashala's company, but he also finds her "impulsive, short-sighted" decisions "frustrating".[14] She (and Mirage) are currently in New York attempting to arrange a deal so the Djinn can buy a portion of Wyoming.
Cadence and the Requiem Boys

Cadence and the Requiem Boys are a band, with Cadence as their lead vocalist, that produced the single "Paying the Price". The song has concerned some parents over its mention and "glorification" of human sacrifice.[15]
John Hathorne

John Hathorne was a magistrate and merchant who had a key role as a judge in the Salem Witch Trials during the 1600s which persecuted people believed to be witches. One of the people sentenced to death by him was Vindicta, who now holds a grudge against his descendants after she was brought back into reality from the first maelstrom.
John Hathorne (Jr.)

A "controversial speaker" and descendant of the original John Hathorne currently in New York.[16]
He is a member of the neo inquisition political group "Friends of Humanity" which has rallied for the US to stop sending aid to the Outer Planes.
There was an assassination attempt on his life.[17]
Ettrick
[edit | edit source]Ettrick is an old friend of Kelvin, who the latter has not seen since his return from the expedition. Ettrick held ambitions for an unknown goal, which drove Kelvin to push him away.[18] Ettrick was "rather rude" and "caused a scene" at Kelvin's fundraiser, according to
Lady Geist.[19]
The Adversary

The Adversary is a creature from an Outer Plane that stalks the Deep. It is described as "dark and predatory" and "a genocidal force of nature". Viscous says that if the Adversary isn't stopped, "he will come for everything".[20]
Captain Murphy
[edit | edit source]Captain Murphy is Holliday's contact in the New York Police Department. She uses his help to track down The Troubadour.[11]
Yamato threatens to kill Murphy should Holliday not "play her part" during the ritual.[21]
Allie Kinkaid
[edit | edit source]A reporter from The New York Oracle. She's writing an interview with Seven.[11][22]
Hank

Hank is the owner of Jezebel's Billard Hall. He's the boss and close friend of Infernus and is friends with
Lady Geist. [1]
Bryce
[edit | edit source]The brother of Paige, Bryce was a rebellious teen who wanted to use his family's bibliomancy for his own desires. A few years before the ritual, he was kicked out of his family's house for unknown reasons, and has been missing since. Paige is participating in the ritual to find out what happened to Bryce and to restore her family.[23]
Bryce used to hang out with Vyper[24] and is described by Paige as a "curmudgeon".[25]
Venator believes Bryce is beyond saving, expressing remorse that Paige has "thrown away her life to save someone who doesn't deserve it".[26][27]
Haze believes Paige would be happier if she lets her brother go.[28]
Molly Molenzo
[edit | edit source]A convict at Rikers, Molly was shanked by Vyper using a toothbrush-mattress spring combo.[29] The stabbing of Molly was heard about by
Wraith, who mentions that she "isn't friends" with Molly.[30]
Yamato wants to speak to Molly about something important.[31]
Cinnamon
[edit | edit source]Cinnamon is a performer at a place called Pole Palace. Vyper calls her a "librarian" and mistakes
Paige for her.[32]
Blockhead Lenny
[edit | edit source]One of the sideshows at Coney Island, Lenny is friends and coworkers with Celeste. He's implied to be stubborn,[33] and is possibly the friend of Celeste who sold part of their soul to cover a gambling debt.[34][35] Lenny once got beaten by
Lash in the Bear Pit.[36] Part of Lenny's act includes knife throwing.[37]
Keruba the Mermaid, Chickenwing and Ted
