Ixia is an Outer Plane connected to Earth through an astral gate.

Summary

Ixia is described as a beautiful place and a popular tourism destination.

The US government is sending aid to Ixia as part of their military campaign, drawing opposition from the Friends of Humanity. The Ixian War is a divisive political topic.

Apollo is referred to as The Prince of Ixia or Crown Prince of North Ixia, though he finds the title inaccurate. His father is referred to as a warlord, and has the authority equivalent to a governor and a general. Apollo wants to represent Ixia in the Olympics.

Kelvin has done an expedition to Ixia. Grey Talon has visited South Ixia.

South Ixia

South Ixia is the 52nd state of the United States. The anniversary of its annexation is celebrated across the country.

North Ixia

North Ixia is a sovereign region described as "a land of beauty, tradition and conflict", in which notable battles have occurred. It is plagued by political violence, which forced Apollo to move to New York.

Ixians

Ixians are beings native to Ixia, colloquially called demons by some, a term that Apollo finds offensive. After the first Maelstrom, some Ixians have immigrated to Earth, leading to a new population of Earth-born Ixians. Infernus and the daughter-in-law of Grey Talon are some of them.

Ixians are characterized by a demon-like appearance with horns and a tail (with the exception of Infernus) and a variety of skin colors including red, blue and black. Some of them have a supernatural control of fire, manifested in Infernus and in Grey Talon's daughter-in-law.

Infernus has never visited Ixia, as he was born and raised in New York. Abrams is surprised to learn this, implying that he has visited Ixia. Infernus doesn't speak Ixian nor is familiar with the language, as his parents only speak English around him. He believes they moved to New York because they were unhappy in Ixia. Apollo is surprised that Infernus does not recognize him.

Cadence is a popular Ixian singer.

It seems to be possible for Ixians to have children with humans. It's currently unknown if these "half-Ixians" inherit all the Ixian traits from their parent.

Apollo uses "gods" as an interjection, indicating that Ixians may have a polytheistic religion.

Language

Ixia has its own language. As a native Ixian, Apollo is fluent. Rem and Seven use Ixian phrases. Infernus doesn't speak Ixian.

• "Hasha Vogali" - "Death's Whisper"

• "Shioth valosh, Apollo." (Either a farewell or an insult)
• "Sirosi galah, Infernus." (Presumably a greeting)

Trivia

• Infernus has a tail in The Binding of Oathkeeper artwork and in one of his earlier models.

• Abrams has spikes in The Binding of Oathkeeper artwork.
• Ixia's name may be a reference to the nine circles of Hell in Dante's Inferno, as IX is the Roman numeral for 9.
• One of the building types in the Cursed Apple is labeled "Arch_apartment_ixia" in the game files.
• There is an unused texture for a sign advertising "Ixia hair braiding and Conjuring".
• In a removed voice line, Dynamo describes a fellow professor's birth place as an "infernal hellscape", presumably a reference to Ixia.
• Grey Talon's background originally read "his son's wife was Ixian... she could snuff out flame with a thought". The new wording ("an Ixian who could snuff out flames") removes the implication that all Ixians can control fire.
• Many item and ability icons use the silhouette of an Ixian character as a symbol.

Wrecker is known as The Butcher of Ixia. He fought in the fields of North Ixia.
