There is nothing more rewarding than making stories come to life.

The daughter of a rare book dealer, Paige grew up in a loving home that prioritized kindness, magic, and storytelling. But while Paige took naturally to her parents' values, her little brother Bryce did not.

A rebellious teen, Bryce resented not only his family’s saccharine attitude, but also their refusal to let him dabble in magics that they deemed too dangerous. Paige tried everything she could think of to keep him out of trouble, but like most teenagers, the more his big sister tried to tell him what was best for him, the more he turned away.

Paige doesn't know what Bryce did to get kicked out of the house...just that she came home from the library to find her brother gone and her parents crying.

Days turned to weeks, to months, to years. Paige grew to become a talented bibliomancer, making a living as a storyteller reading at libraries across the five boroughs; and while her parents have remained silent about what happened with Bryce, Paige's obsession with finding him has only grown. She will discover what happened to her brother... and no man or god is going to stand in her way.

Overview

Paige's motivation in the ritual is to find and save her brother, Bryce. She hopes that doing so will heal her family.

Biography

Paige went to high school and college when growing up. In high school, she had a diary where she wrote about Byronic heroes.

Paige loves reading all kinds of books, having set times of day for different types of books. She has read books on Kelvin's adventures and the Baxter Society.

As a storyteller, Paige reads books to kindergarteners. She loved showing off Bookwyrm at the libraries, but was forced to stop using it after the dragon burnt some books.

Outside of storytelling, Paige also helps her parents at their bookstore. She also goes to a book club.

Personality

Paige is chipper and optimistic. She tries to be kind and dislikes hurting others. Her love for reading is reflected in her comparisons between other heroes and fictional characters. The enemy heroes often think Paige is in over her head, and are apologetic when killing her.

Paige is nervous about the ritual due to her lack of combat experience, and attempted to tackle her nerves by doing Storytime at one of the libraries. Despite her nerves, Paige is dedicated to completing the ritual to save her brother and heal her family. Paige views herself as the hero and protagonist of her story.

Paige finds heroic men romantic. She admires the Knights of the Round Table and occasionally calls out the knights directly when they help her in Rallying Charge or when she gets a melee kill.

Paige says "butterscotch" when she's frustrated.

Appearance

Paige is a young white woman with a soft face, green eyes framed by round red glasses, and messy ginger hair tied in a bun. She wears a short dark green plaid dress with suspenders, a light green turtleneck sweater and thigh-high socks, and brown shoes with short heels. She has a golden fountain pen pendant in her chest, and a golden badge with a book symbol in her right shoulder. She carries 5 large books, the top one being an Arthurian Fantasy book from which she summons green spectral creatures and giant swords.

Information

Paige's name has a double meaning: It can be a reference to the pages of books, as well as the servants of knights and noblemen in medieval times.

Paige's ability VFX uses text from the book Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and the placeholder Lorem Ipsum text.

Paige makes several references to real-life literature and authors. These include:

Paige also references literary tropes and plot devices, calling Abrams' tome a "MacGuffin" and saying she has "plot armor" (which one of her abilities is also named after).

Character Relationships

Bryce

Bryce is Paige's younger brother who went missing years ago.

Paige describes her brother Bryce as a curmudgeon, although she does still love Bryce. Bryce once told Vyper that Paige is wound up tight.

Venator believes Bryce is beyond saving, expressing remorse that Paige has "thrown away her life to save someone who doesn't deserve it". Haze believes Paige would be happier if she lets her brother go.

Paige's Parents

Paige hopes that she'll make her parents proud.

Paige's parents don't know that Paige is participating in the ritual. Paige didn't tell them as she believes they'd be worried sick.

Infernus and the Shopkeeper are familiar with Paige's parents.

Kelvin

Paige idolises Kelvin and loves his stories.

Ivy and Manny Arroyo

Ivy knows Paige from Manny Arroyo's story time. She likes Paige and wants to start a book club with her. Paige thinks Ivy is great.

Vyper

Vyper nicknames Paige as "Red" and is apologetic when fighting her. She also mistakes Paige for a performer at the "Pole Palace" named Cinammon. Paige doesn't like Vyper.

Vyper has met Bryce and says he was "more fun".

Krill

Krill and Paige once planned to start a book club together.

Mirage

Paige has a crush on Mirage and says he "stepped out of every romance novel ever written". She thinks Mirage is better than Shiv, but Shiv is a better "bad boy" than Lash.

Mirage thinks Paige is a kind soul, and believes Nashala would find her amusing.

Victor

Paige has a crush on Victor and offers to help him with his problems. Paige likens Victor to a "walking mystery novel" and wants to learn more about him.

Paige doesn't want Victor to put on a shirt.
