Coming off bench in Game 3
Post is not in the Warriors' starting lineup for Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Timberwolves on Saturday, Danny Emerman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Post was inserted into the Warriors' starting lineup for Game 2, but he played just three minutes without posting any counting stats. He'll shift to the bench for Game 3 while Trayce Jackson-Davis moves into Golden State's starting five. Post has played six minutes or less in each of his last three games after averaging 19.3 minutes per game over the first six games of the postseason against the Rockets.
Hardly plays despite starting
Post closed Thursday's 117-93 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals with no counting stats in three minutes. With Stephen Curry (hamstring) out, it initially appeared as though Post would be a part of a much bigger lineup for Golden State. However, the rookie big man only logged three minutes of action, allowing for Trayce Jackson-Davis to play 19 minutes. Even with Curry set to miss a few more games, it's unlikely Post will be a significant factor in the Warriors' rotation.
Starting in Game 2
Post is in the starting lineup for Thursday's Game 2 against the Timberwolves, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. The Warriors will elect to roll with a larger starting five in the absence of Stephen Curry (hamstring), moving Draymond Green to power forward and Jimmy Butler to small forward. Post will presumably be much more involved Thursday after a quiet performance in Game 1, when he logged one rebound in six minutes of action.
Scores 13 off bench
Post recorded 13 points (4-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds and three assists in 20 minutes during Monday's 109-106 win over the Rockets in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Post moved back to the second unit due to Jimmy Butler returning to action, but the former made the most of his minutes. Look for him to be the first big man off the bench moving forward, with coach Steve Kerr clearly putting a lot of trust in him.
Back to bench
Post will come off the bench for Monday's Game 4 against the Rockets, John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game San Francisco reports. Post didn't provide much offensively in an opportunity to start during Saturday's Game 3, finishing with two points on 1-for-7 from the field in 27 minutes. Jimmy Butler will return to the starting lineup after missing time with a pelvic contusion, nudging Post back to a bench role.
Grabs 12 boards in Game 3
Post totaled two points (1-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt), 12 rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in 27 minutes during Saturday's 104-93 win over the Rockets in Game 3 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. With Jimmy Butler (pelvis) sidelined and Moses Moody moving to the bench, Post and Jonathan Kuminga were inserted into Golden State's staring lineup for Game 3. Post didn't make much of an impact as a shooter, but he did manage to grab a game-high 12 boards (nine defensive). The rookie second-round pick could stay in the Warriors' starting five if Butler is unable to play in Game 4 on Monday.
Starting in Game 3
Post is in the Warriors' starting lineup against the Rockets in Game 3 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs Saturday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Post played a bigger role for the Warriors in Game 2 on Wednesday compared to Game 1, finishing with 12 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal over 25 minutes. The rookie second-rounder will start in the frontcourt alongside Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga, and Post should give the Warriors more interior presence on the glass against Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams.
Drains four threes in Game 2
Post totaled 12 points (4-9 FG, 4-8 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 25 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 109-94 loss to the Rockets in Game 2 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. After failing to score a point in 12 minutes during a Game 1 win for the Warriors, Post was a lot more involved in the offense Wednesday. His increased usage was likely the result of Jimmy Butler (pelvis) being unable to finish the game, and if Butler isn't fully fit for Game 3 on Saturday, Post could have some DFS appeal as a bargain option.
Strong line in 22 minutes
Post amassed 11 points (4-5 FG, 3-4 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 22 minutes during Tuesday's 121-116 Play-In Game win over Memphis. This was Post's largest workload since March 22, but, notably, coach Steve Kerr trusted him in his first taste of the playoffs. Post is the preferred backup big these days, and Jonathan Kuminga has been buried on the depth chart as a result.
