Thanks to Bozo for this tape.  Once you get used to listening to this from inside one of the basses it's ok.  The saxes are a little on the quiet side but this is a stupendous grouping with some fabulous playing. Pretty wild (no township).  Something happens (?) at 33:05 so I put a track break in.

MiKE WESTBROOK SEXTET - Montreux Jazz Festival 1968 (Remaster)

When I first heard this set posted back in 2017 by kinabalu, I think it deserves clearer sound. For some time it sits in my To do folder and now I made a kind of remastering. Hope you will enjoy it.

ELTON DEAN'S NiNESENSE - Bracknell Jazz Festival 1978

I got this audience recording in trade from many years ago and I shared it previously in comments to some other Ninesense recording here. Recently I gave it a listen and found it wholly enjoyable and great preformance, thus I tried some equalisation from original mp3@320. In the end it is improvement I think. Setlist is similiar to 100 Club Concert from 1979. Track 5 (including 11 min of great improv) has significantly clearer sound without audience noises (which are quietly enjoyable during quiet passages earlier) and due to possible speaker entry in the fade out, it can come from some broadcast (possibly) from different concert, but I got it together with this Bracknell recording).

ELTON DEAN'S NINESENSE "THE 100 CLUB CONCERT 1979" (REEL RECORDINGS, 1979)

The music herein was already posted by Riccardo in 2010.
But Michael King - producer of the now sadly defunct label - asked for a removal of the links.
The links were removed and the music was released about two years later in 2012 on Reel Recordings.
Already in 2013 the label stopped its production....
King wanted to start a new label called "Jazz in Britain" but sadly he died in 2015.

Engineered by twenty-two year Riccardo Bergerone, from a stage front and centre table position as reserved for him personally by Elton Dean.
Positioned far left stage, beyond the band, thus often distant sounding.
Kudos to Keith Tippett for his understanding and support for the music.

BROTZMANN, TiPPETT, MiLLER, KELLERS - München 1983

This wonderful document of unrecorded (as far as I know) quartet was shared on DIME by Owombat back in 2009, and later probably here in Contributions section, or maybe somewhere else. I did kind of remastering and spliced together original three parts of each set, as they were continuous performancces. It took four stages of equalization to make sound somehow balanced, although saxophone is still loudest instrument. Enjoy.

ELTON DEAN'S NINESENSE - Basel, Theaterwerkstatt Stadttheater, 24 Juni 1979

This comes from DIME and I have it for several years. I know some of you have it too. Ninesense are septet here, without Alan Skidmore and Harry Beckett, thus plenty of space for others' soloing. Sound is pretty good, although I was fancy to do a remastering during the years... Strong bass, very clear piano. I was not able to do full playlist, even with the help of some of you. It was also released as bootleg named "Feel", but I never saw it actually, except cover pic on the web.

Harry Miller at the BBC 1976-77

There was a request from blogger chum and contributor Miloo 2 to have some of the recordings that Harry Miller made for the BBC up and running again. These were initially uploaded by Ubu on his now dormant blog Ubu Roi here.

However, the first two tracks listed in the blog post have been released on "Full Steam Ahead" on the Reel Recordings label and have consequently been omitted here. Closer examination has revealed that the third track posted is also on the Reel cd, a superb version of "Family Affair" which was also the title tune of the one and only Isipingo lp released in their lifetime, out on the Ogun label, which he founded in 1973 and is now run by his widow Hazel Miller.

I've decided to keep it in here to ensure the narrative radio flow, but also as an enticement for all of you to go get the cd while it's still out there. The only difference from what I can hear is that this recording retains a bit of applause at the beginning and at the end. There is a small discrepancy in that the blog post reports Stan Tracey as being the pianist on the 1976 tracks while the cd says it's Keith Tippett. I'm inclined to go with the latter, so the info file has been corrected.

Finally, there are a couple of 1977 tracks with a different line-up which to my knowledge has not been released in these versions. "Orange Grove" and "Traumatic Experience" appeared on the "In Conference" lp on Ogun which was not with the Isipingo group.

Both of the aforementioned lps were reissued as part of the Harry Miller Collection, a 4 cd box set which is unfortunately out of print. Hopefully it will be reissued to keep Harry Miller's music in circulation. We're doing our little bit here. In any case, do get both the Reel and Cuneiform Isipingo releases. You won't regret it!

Harry Miller Isipingo - 1976

Marc Charig - trumpet
Malcolm Griffiths - trombone
Mike Osborne - alto sax
Keith Tippett - piano
Harry Miller - bass
Louis Moholo - drums

1. Family Affair (9:58)
2. Peter Clayton (0:38)
3. Where Now Then? (9:53)

Harry Miller Quintet - 1977

Trevor Watts - alto & soprano sax
Alan Wakeman - tenor & soprano sax
Berni Holland - guitar
Harry Miller - bass
Louis Moholo - drums

4. Orange Grove (9:22)
5. Charles Fox (0:41)
6. A Traumatic Experience (17:20)
7. Charles Fox outro (0:30)

Sources:
#1-3: BBC broadcast early 1976
#4-7: Jazz in Britain broadcast 24-12-1977(?)

I've edited the track sequencing so that the radio announcements by Peter Clayton and Charles Fox are inserted at the right points.

Harry Miller - double bass

Produced by George Chkiantz & Julie Tippetts with Giorgio Gomelsky

Recorded at Olympic Studios, London, 1975

CD Air Mail Archive AIRAC-1115 (Japan, 2005)

This gentle and delicate collection is one of a few Julie's works, incorporating both songcraft and jazz / free improvisation. For further exploration in this field, I would like to suggest her appearance on Carla Bley's Tropic Appetites (Watt 1974) and more recent Nostalgia 77 Sessions featuring Keith & Julie Tippett (Tru Thoughts 2oo9). Despite being reissued on cd by Blueprint (1999) and Disconforme (2ooo) labels, Sunset Glow remains unavailable for long years. I believe this album may be a good article for reissue specialists Esoteric Recordings, who is actually going to release first two Keith Tippett Group albums with their usual care about mastering and packaging.
