KOMADORI NO HAHAKOI SHIMAI
Stunningly beautiful album from the Komadori Shimai aka the Robin Sisters, they were identical twins and their story is very, very dramatic....
Taken from a Japanese Wikipedia page (and translated quiet poorly by google translate) :
Eiko Namiki (Eiko Nagauchi, February 16, 1938-, twin sister)
Yoko Namiki (Toshiko Nagauchi, February 16, 1938-twin sister)
1938 (Showa 13) On February 16, he was born as an identical twin of his father working as a coal mine worker in Akkeshi-cho , Akkeshi-gun , Hokkaido . The family, then Sakhalin over to, grows in Sakhalin until the defeat.
After the Pacific War , in a very poor life, he moved around in the mines of Obihiro and Kushiro , and finally ran away at night because he could not pay his rent in the money box . Moved to Dairakumo, where the sisters began to gate to earn money .
Moved to Tokyo in 1951. He lives in a wooden rental inn in Sanya , Tokyo, and is taken by his father to flow through the Asakusa dining area in Taito Ward with the shamisen in one hand . At that time, she received a scout and joined Columbia in 1959, making her debut as “Asakusa Sisters”. Although debut song was supposed to originally be "shamisen sister", it has been changed to "Asakusa sisters" on the grounds that meet the singing and two voice [1] . The "Asakusa Sisters" was originally written for Hideo Murata, and became the sister's debut song after changing the main character of the lyrics from male to female . [1] The stage name at the time of its debut was "Namiki Sister" [1] (notation on the record jacket was "Eiko Namiki Yoko Namiki"). Was chosen.
Nicknamed “Enka Version The Peanuts ”. Exchanges with the same twin, the Peanuts, were both popular and public, although the song genre was different. In 1960 (Showa 35), The Peanuts made and appeared in the program “Komadori Jockey”. However, Komadori sisters are 3 years older than The Peanuts.
In 1961, he first participated in the NHK Red and White Song Battle . After the Peanuts, it became the second brother / sister in the history of Red and White. He has participated in the Red and White Song Battle for seven consecutive years since this year (see below for details).
On May 8, 1966 (Showa 41), when he was performing at Kurayoshi City , Tottori Prefecture , an 18-year-old man suddenly rushed to the stage and stabbed Yoko with a knife. This man was a fan of Eiko and wanted to get married, but was not able to respond, so he was trying hard, but Yoko was stabbed. Yoko was stabbed in the abdomen and seriously injured, but she stopped her life and returned to the stage after a while.
Unhappy with the death of his parents, Yoko's cancer, Yoko's serious injury, Eiko's traffic accident, Blaine's tax evasion, etc., he left the entertainment industry in 1973 with a large debt.
After that, in 1976 (Showa 51), he appeared in “Memories of Memories” and occasionally appeared in a melody program, and in 1984 (Showa 59), renewed his new song “ Namba Hanaboshiyo Life is ” I started off. In 2008, he won an achievement award at the 50th Japan Record Awards .
In 2009, a documentary film directed by Eiko Kataoka, “Komadari Sisters Come to Ya! Ya! Ya!” Was released.
2013 (Heisei 25) December 31, appeared in "The 46th Annual Forgotten Japan Song " (TV Tokyo).
