Yessss! What a great way to start the flea season! Well, technically we have already been to one other flea, the swap meet at Six Flags...but that was so early in the season that I consider it a sorta preseason flea. And we didn't find nearly as good of stuff at Six Flags as we did at Cornbread!

The 2016 Flea Market Season Starts Of With A Bang! A Cool Morning Turned Into A Warm Afternoon At The Cornbread "Worlds Largest Garage Sale" And Mr. M Came Home With Some Great Finds. Status: Spring Is Here!

Wow! New Upholstery And Cleaned Up Frames...What A Difference! These Shelby Williams Gazelle Chairs Were In...Well, Let's Say Distressed Condition When I Brought Them Home. Thanks To Jeff's Mad Skills, They Look Fantastic Now! Status: Available!
Right, there was 11 before...but these chairs didn't upholster themselves. I traded Jeff (our awesome upholstery guy) 7 of the chairs for his efforts in sprucing up 4 for me. Everybody Happy!!!

It's Like A Freakin' Zoo Here In The Modtomic Driveway With All These Gazelles. Gazelle CHAIRS That Is! I Managed To Snag A Whole Herd Of Shelby Williams Aluminum And Wood Side Chairs Recently And They're Already Being Worked On. Status: Gettin' Some Love.
The Shelby Williams "Gazelle" chair is another of those mid century modern classic designs that I didn't even realize was on my "bucket" list until I spotted a cadre of them on craigslist last week.

What A Piece Of Crap! Who In Their Right Mind Would Not Only Pay Cash Money For This But Then Toss It In The Back Of Their Car And Bring It Home From New Orleans? This Guy! And No, I Wasn't Drunk On Hurricanes. Status: Project.
"Why?", you ask. Because: Knoll. Because: Schultz. Because: well...a little crazy! But c'mon...how could I leave it behind?

Dang, See Those Leaves In The Grass? Yup, Summer Is Over Again And Fall Is Creeping In. So What Else Is Sitting There In The Grass? Why Those Are Peter Opsvik Ergonomic Chairs. Weird, Huh! Status: Already Gone.
Somehow Mr. M lucked into a FOUR day weekend. Unfortunately that first day (Friday) was cloudy and cool, but at least I found these fantastic teak Balans chairs, all in great condition. Their very pretty blue upholstery, contrasting against the beautiful teak frames made up for the otherwise dreary day.

Ahhh...Nice! More Knoll / Saarinen Armchairs! You Only See Five Right Here But I Assure You That There Are Nine Total. Hey, It's Hard To Shoot Nine Chairs All At Once! Status: Available.
Aren't these fantastic! I managed to procure Nine Knoll / Eero Saarinen tilt swivel rolling armchairs a few days ago...and what a crazy chore it was to get them all in the back of Frank. Believe me, it weren't easy!

What The What? Two Livingroom Sets In Two Days? Yeah! Although THIS Set Is A Little More In Keeping With What Ya Might Expect 'Round Here. It's Got That Adrian Pearsall Look, But It's Not Craft Associates. Still, Good Lookin' Set, Right? Status: Available!
Funny story: before making my way downtown to pick up the Ikea set I featured yesterday I stopped by a Friday morning estate sale that happened to have a Pearsall sofa and couple of chairs. I didn't go out early or anything and consequently the set had already sold. I wake up Saturday morning, check craigslist and find This set! What are the chances?

Yeah, I Know...They're Not Vintage, But They Are Out Of Production Ikea Lillberg. Ikea? Again, I Know...But We Takes Whats We Can Gets, And I Gotta Admit That It's A Great Looking Set! Status: Available.
This fine accumulation of Ikea living room furniture has recently made it's way to my booth at The Antique Mall of Creve Coeur. Can you believe I was able to fit all of this into the back of Frank? Of course I didn't go crazy and try to close the hatch...but I might have been able too.

No, It's Obviously Not An Arne Jacobson Egg Chair By Fritz Hansen...But It's Still A Fun Swivel Chair "In The Style Of". It's Origin Is A Mystery Since I Cannot Find Another Like It On The Web. Status: Avaiable.
I've actually got a PAIR of these with one already in my booth at The Antique Mall Of Creve Coeur and the other waiting for a place to put it. They needed a good vacuuming but turned out to be much nicer than I thought from looking at the craigslist pics from whence they came.

Another Domino Mobler Teak Desk? Why Yes...Yes Indeed! I Can't Pass Up An Opportunity To Drop One Of These Fantastic Teak Beauties In My Booth At The Antique Mall Of Creve Coeur. Status: Available
A sizable hole opened up in my booth a couple of weeks ago and up until this weekend I've been unable to fill it. But, as we all know...when it rains - it pours! And rain & pour it did today while unloading Frank!

Well, In Case You Haven't Heard Yet, I've Expanded Once Again. Now You Can Find Mr. Modtomic's Available Wares In St. Peters Near The Mid Rivers Mall! We Stopped By The Brand New Time Machine Antique Mall Sunday And Walked Out With 100 Sq. Ft. More Booth Space! Status: Open!!!
Technically, The Time Machine Antique Mall in St. Peters won't have it's grand opening until September 1st, but they are open to the public already and there are a number of vendors up and vending already...including yours truly! I rented a spot Sunday morning and managed to get some select pieces in there Sunday afternoon.

I've Been Wanting To Find One Of These Chaise Lounges For Some Time Now. They Are Incredibly Comfortable And Although Some May Balk At Black And Chrome, Quite A Stylish Statement Piece. Status: Available.
It's not a real LeCorbusier LC4, of course. I'm not that lucky...and if it was the real deal I wouldn't be parting with it! Still, it's got style for miles and is so so comfy. Don't believe? Drop by the Antique Mall Of Creve Coeur and try it out!

It's Been A Little While Since We've Taken A Look At The Booth Down At The Green Shag Market. A Lot Of Stuff Moved While We Were On Vacation So I Had To Restock. Status: All Waiting For You!
Is that a Maison Jansen rocking chair? Why yes it is! And it's been freshly re-upholstered in black suede. Black and chrome...classic! Stop by and take it for a spin...or...rock, or whatever.

EVERYTHING Has Been A Little Dry Lately. Craigslist, Thriftstores...Even The Goings On At The Antique Malls, But Finally A Little Life Giving Rain Falls At The Flea Market! Salterini, Salem Biscayne And A Danish Modern Valet. Status: Available (Salterini Already Gone!).
It's been ages seems like since I've had such a nice haul from any of the local flea markets. Belleville has shone me no love, the new St. Louis Swap Meet hasn't quite found it's footing (but is still quite enjoyable!) and I think we've just been getting to Wentzville to late. But finally, Booty!!!

If You Check My Twitter Feed You May Have Already Seen This Fine Pair Of Retro Armchairs. If Not, Check Out The Video Inside! Status: Gone.
I picked up a nice pair of vintage '50s vinyl and chrome armchairs last weekend and although it took me over a week to post them, I've already got them down at the booth in The Green Shag Market.

Yee-Haw! It's Spring! Patio and Bar-B-Que Season Is Upon us. Yesterday I Picked Up ANOTHER Set Of Woodard Steel Mesh Organic Form Patio Chairs, But They Need Some Love. Status: Available.
Rusty gold? Like the American Pickers say? Maybe not. More like chippy paint silver. But they're in great structural condition...just needing seats and cushions. These appear to be an older version of the set that I featured here before.

We Just Got Home From A Weekend Visit To Nashville. We Went For The Big Flea Market And One Of My Good Finds Was This Eames Secretarial Task Chair. These Are Kinda Rare...And This Is My Second! Status: Incomplete.
It looks pretty good in the pics but the fabric is still pretty dirty and unfortunately it's missing it's vinyl trim that surrounds the seat. Still, it's super rare and in good shape otherwise.

Being From St. Louis And Seeing The Gateway Arch Every Day On My Way To Work, Mr. Modtomic Is A Big Fan Of Eero Saarinen. So When I Can Procure A Beautiful Set Of Knoll / Saarinen Armchairs I Of Course Jump At The Chance! Status: Available.
As office chairs go, the Eero Saarinen armchair is absolutely one of the most stylish choices, but just by looking at these chairs here on the innernets what you are missing is how seriously comfy these chairs are.

Years In The Making And It's Finally Here! This Classically Beautiful Maison Jansen Rocking Chair Was A Wreck When I Found It In Kansas City, But A Quick Polish Of The Chrome And A Long Stay With Mr. Swift The Upholsterer For The Seating Surfaces Breathed New Life Into This Formerly Forlon Gem. Status: Available.
To me there is nothing so cool as a classic that has been thoroughly messed with. Remember Falco? You know...Rock Me Amadeus! OK, maybe that wasn't a great example...but you know what I mean!

Ahhh...Last Weekend The Weather Was Absolutely Splendid. I Guess The Warmth Has Spurred Sellers Since Criagslist Has Seemed To Really Pick Up. Speaking Of Picking Up...This Quartet Of Eames / Miller Chairs In Green Alexander Gerard Hopsak Were Picked Up Last Weekend Too! Status: Gone.
Yup, the Polar Vortex has gone home for the year (we hope) and the sub freezing days with it. This whole week it's been fantastic here in St. Louis. Sunday was the criagslist bonanza day for me last weekend. Along with the Drexel chest I featured a couple days ago I managed to bring this beautiful set of Eames Shell Stackers home too.
