A sizable hole opened up in my booth a couple of weeks ago and up until this weekend I've been unable to fill it. But, as we all know...when it rains - it pours! And rain & pour it did today while unloading Frank!

If You Follow My Twitter Feed You May Have Already Gotten A Little Glimpse Of This Domino Mobler Danish Modern Desk. I Haven't Picked Up Much Lately And Bringing This Home A Couple Of Days Ago Was A Nice Prize. Status: Gone
My buddy Jeff had one of these desks a while back. Actually, he showed it to me the day we first kinda met. I was buying a couple of Herman Miller sofas from him and, like me, he has lots of other stuff sitting around. A desk just like this was one of them.

What St. Louis Lacks In Vintage Modern Shop Grapevine Info It Surely Makes Up For In Seriously Fine Stock And Choice. So MoModerne Moves It's Headquarters Out To The County...And No One Bothers To Tell A Mr.! Status: New Address - Same Great Taste.
I guess I've nobody to blame but myself. I have to say, I haven't been out to ANY of the vintage modern shop around town lately...and so why would any of these merchants bother to let me in on news as big as the moving of their store front...much less the opening of their Second Storefront!

Can't Hardly Believe I Managed To Score These Three Erik Buck Teak Dining Chairs This Afternoon. They'd Been Listed For Days With That Oh So Popular "Danish" Keyword In The Ad. I'm Not Complainin'! Status: Hat Trick?
Again with the cell phone camera! Well shucks, it takes pretty good photos...and I can upload them directly...and I guess I might be a little lazy. ::shrugg:: For real, I just didn't have time to do today's post any other way!

Just A Quick (And Mostly Undeserved) Rant, Piss And Moan, Bitch Session. What The F*ck Is Up With Kirkwood Craigslist "Sellers"? Status: Miffed.
Out of the last Four Kirkwood Mo. craigslist posters I've replied to only two have gotten back to me...and one took 4 DAYS to do so! How "F"ing RUDE are Kirkwood residence? See the chairs in the picture above? I e-mailed the seller yesterday an Hour and Fourteen Minutes after the they placed the ad. I offered them a full 25% more than they were asking. Never heard back.

I picked this up this morning, took a nap, cleaned it up, rubbed it down, loaded it up and installed it in my Booth (44) at the Green Shag Market...which, by the way, is open TODAY - Labor Day! The Green Shag ain't usually open on Mondays but there's another shop - Quintessential Antiques - close by that is only open the first week of the month and The Green Shag is open too, to add to the bounty. Head down, check 'em out.

Here's A Little Better "Before / After" Of The Frem Rojle Dining Chairs That I Picked Up Recently. Danish Oil = Awesome! Status: 90 Percent Done.
I all but finished the cleanup of the Hans Olsen set of dining chairs that I picked up just before our little trip to San Francisco two weeks ago. That's got to be a record for Mr. Modtomic. I'm not real swift with the "project gettin' to's", but this one was so dang easy and yielded such purdy results! The chair on the left is done while the one on the right was waiting patiently.

Back In Town. Back To The Projects. Pulled The Frem Rhojl Set Out And Got Started. Status: It Has Begun.
You might remember this set of Hans Olsen for Frem Rojle danish dining chairs that I dropped a post about a few days back. I had just procured the set (from the localest of local Goodwills) and hadn't gotten a chance to so much as wipe them down. Well, I opened the Garage door this afternoon and they were easiest to grab.

Had Some Erands To Get Done Today By The Local Goodwill. Stopped In And Check Out What Was Waiting There For Me! Status: Snatched.
I've been having terrible luck at the local thrift stores lately (on the whole, sorry Dave...shoulda' been here THIS weekend!) but today's find filled the burgeoning void (in my heart...not the Garage). Funny thing is, these had price tags dated 3/19/12. They had been just SITTING there for a whole week!

This Sat Unsold On Craigslist For Over A Week. I Tried And Tried To Let It Be. To Let Somebody Else Snatch It Up. Status: Farm Fresh.
While looking around the web at Erik Buck barstools a while back (after finding my Erik Buck barstools) I repeatedly spotted Erik Buck dining chairs. I had never really noticed them before but they apparently did make an impression because when I spotted this set on Craigslist I knew almost immediately what it was. Still, I hesitated.

Only A Few Times In One's "Picking" Adventures Does A Fella Come Across An Acquisition Such As This. Status: A Little Stunned.
Earlier this week (last weekend actually) Nickarmadillo of Mid-Century Midwest snapped up a great Herman Miller slat bench for next to nothing (even with over offering / paying). I have to say I was a little bummed as I too had fired off an e-mail after seeing the ad (and also over offered) and realized the seller had no idea what they were selling. Well...Sunday brought blue skies again as these popped up on the list while I was poking around on my phone sittin' in the Mr. Chair.

Found Hanging Out In A Rural Roadside Flea Market, F D B Mobler / Folke Palsson Dining Chairs. Status: Not Too Shabby, Considering!
Yeah, I pulled these from a hot dusty little "shop" in Fosters Flea Market. They didn't have a tag on them so I offered twenty bucks for the pair. The guy manning the shop (not the actual shop keep) tried to call the actual seller but couldn't get through. He finally countered with $25 but all I had was $23. So $23 put them in the back of Frank Jr.

Dishes, Dirt And A Random Roadside Flea Market. Recipe For Vacation Pickin' Success! Status: Little Soap And Water Never Hurt No Dishes!
We were actually trying to find a white water rafting company that could fit us in without a reservation when we stumbled upon this roadside outdoor (mostly) flea market in rural North Carolina called Fosters Flea Market. Picking or possible Rafting....hmmmm. The flea market won out.
