The first thing I purchased last weekend was a new set of wheels for Frank. Frank needed new tires BADLY (only real failing is he chews through tires) so I felt an upgrade was in order, wheel wise. These 16 inch wheels from a 2011 Ford Fiesta SES are a perfect fit and look pretty good. The tires are in better shape than what came off too! But I'm sure it's what I picked up at Rutledge that you're probably interested in.

This Last Weekend Was Absolutely Beautiful. Perfect Weather. Luckily I Had Taken Friday Off To Visit The Rutledge Missouri Flea Market And As Such Had A Three Day Ahead Of Me. Did I Score? You Bet! Status: New Stuff.

Like Many Others Out There, The Walt Disney World Polynesian Village Mug Is What Got My Motor Started In The Tiki Collecting World. My Mom Gave Me One Years Ago And I Was Off To The (Tiki Bar) Races. Status: Available.
Disney, the Fifties, Tiki...it all comes together in these fabulous frosted glass mugs. Oddly enough, they also sport the theater comedy and tragedy faces in Tiki guise. Having never been to the Polynesian Village I cannot say that the faces don't have anything to do with Tiki, but I still find it questionable.

I Had Friday Off Work And Took The Opportunity To Check A Half Dozen Or So Thrifts, Coming Home Mostly Empty Handed. Then Saturday I Tried The Estate Sale Scene And Scored A Little, But Sunday Was The REAL Breaking Of The Ice. Status: Available.
It's been ages since the last time I picked up some nice bedroom pieces and even longer since finding any Drexel to offer in either of the booths. I've been itching to get some dressers and chests in the both and this Drexel Profile chest is perfect since it can be either a chest of drawers OR a dining room bar!

Just After Returning From New Orleans I Got A Call From The Owner Of Creve Coeur Antique Mall Asking If I Could Check Out Some Furniture A Friend Of Hers Was Liquidating. This Amazing Teak Server Was Just Part Of The Haul. Status: Available!
Wow, this is twice in the last Six months or so that I've been asked by a friend to take a look at some furniture that was being let go of. I've always been wary of these offers, mostly because I'm a big softy and can totally empathize with the seller who just needs to have the stuff gone and turned into cash. It's hard for me to say "no, sorry...not my style".

On Our First Day Here In New Orleans This Trip We Took A Moment To Stop By MCM Furnishings On Oak Street. It's A Small Joint With A Big Heart In An Upcoming Neighborhood. Status: Perused.
You just gotta admire the entrepreneurial spirit of folks who have jumped right in and opened up a bricks and mortar...or frame and siding, as the case may be. Mr. M has always been too cautious to give it a go (but also has it TOO good at Creve Coeur and The Shag!). MCM Furnishings is a little off the beaten path but worth dropping by.

Sorry About Being So MIA Lately. No (Good) Excusses, Just Lazy And Adjusting To The SUDDEN Cold The Midwest Has Been Slathered In. Here's A Couple Smalls I've Picked Up Lately What Be Headed To The Shag. Status: Available.
Sorry, I know... No no, I haven't been avoiding you! No really, it's not you...it's me. I've been kinda lame. Once it got cold I just stopped. Pretty much stopped everything but going to work and keeping the booths stocked.

Of Course, While I Was Down South Slacking...I Still Had To Rake Through Craigslist Every So Often. The Last Day There I Turned Up This Pair! Status: Knockoffs...But Still Attractive.
Even though these are SO not Knoll / Bertoia they will still do the job and look good doing it...and lighten a pocket book considerably less doing so. These popped up on craigslist during the last few hours I was in New Orleans. I had e-mails out on a number of items all weekend but this was all that panned out.

Sure, It Was A Three Day Weekend...But Does It Count If It Rains Every Day? Bringing Home A Pair Of Arthur Umanoff Iron And Leather Wine Racks Today Helped To Soothe The Pain. Status: A Mess.
In case you also spotted this pair of Umanoff wine racks on craigslist this afternoon and thought about (or made a play for) them, you might have passed on them anyway. They are quite the mess. Probably haven't been dusted (much less actually cleaned) in years.

Wanna See What $8.50 Got Mr. Modtomic At The Goodwill This Afternoon? No, It Wasn't An Epic Haul But Neither Was It Too Shabby For An Unscheduled Stop. Status: Satisfied.
You KNOW Mr. M cannot resist some silver fade Dorothy Thorpe style bar ware! The funny thing is, they were half the price of the "rocks" glasses I picked up too. Both the cashier and myself could do little more than twist our faces up In bemusement and shrugg.

Oh How I Wish There Were More Vintage Modern Vendors Here At The Antique Mall Of Creve Coeur. There Are A Couple Others, But This Is A BIG Place. I Don't Want A Monopoly! Status: Other Vendors Stuff.
If I didn't already have one of these (OK, I think mine is a 9 bottle rack but still, I think I've caught my limit!) I would have snatched this Arthur Umanoff steel and leather wine rack right up. But I didn't and as a result...You Can!

Getting Back To Small Items Again. This Is A Rather Eclectic Mix And That's Just What You Need In An Otherwise Pretty Focused Antique Mall Booth. Status: Ready For Cleanup.
I picked up each one of these items about a month apart. The bamboo wine rack was the latest find and it came from the Goowill where as the stone bull and the plastic starburst candle holders both were flea finds. Everything but the bull needs to be cleaned a little but they'll all be tagged up soon.

Dorothy Thorpe Style Booty (Ha, That's Kinda Funny) From The Worlds Longest Yard Sale, The Famous 127 Corridor Flea Market. As You Can See, You Can Find Good Stuff If You Are Persistent Enough. Status: In The Booth!
This nice little haul of chrome rim bar ware came from two different sources along highway 127 but both sets were great bargains. I would normally keep (horde?) this stuff for my own bar collection, but I think I've got enough. Time to spread the wealth so these pieces are available in booth 307 at The Antique Mall of Creve Coeur.

I Kinda Wish I Had A Poster Size Print Of This Photo To Hang Behind Our Bar At Home. It Pretty Much Says It All, Doesn't It? "Joe's Welcome Wagon", Nice! Status: Not My Booth.
Only issue with Joe's setup is, well...a janitorial trolly? Really Joe? That's the best you could come up with? You've got all that great liqueur there and gussy up your self, but the cart? Neah, let that be.

Sunday's Visit To The Wentzville Flea Yeilded Some Interesting Results. Nothing Big Or Epic, But Some Pretty Cool Stuff None The Less. Status: Retro Smallsville!
The Wentzville flea has finally hit it's stride. The last two Sundays have been well attended by the vendors which is a big 180 from the few couple weekends we had previously seen. I still didn't find much, but I do find myself being a bit pickier these days.

So We're Tooling Around Mid-Missouri / The Ozarks In The Girlfriend's Fiesta (Named "The Flirt") And Of Course I'm Going To Find Both A Large Brasilia Bookcase AND This Arthur Umanoff Wine Cart. No Way They're Both Going In That Little Hatchback. Status: Return Trip.
As found at the Heartland Antique Mall near Lebanon Missouri. What a strange place to find vintage modern...but the good news is that it's a strange place to find vintage modern (ahem...it was cheap...cough).

It....Is....PARTY....Time! Have You Ever Clicked That Little Link On The Right Side Bar Labled "Tiki Bar TV"? No? Well, Here's Your Chance To Party With The Cast And Learn To Make A New Cocktail! Status: Good Times!
My buddy Kevin showed me this site ages ago and it's been one of my favorites ever since. This team put together these entertaining shorts that are centered around the mixing of one cocktail for each episode. You'll not only be laughing your @ss off, you'll learn how to make a fantastic new drink every show!

Party Time Is Just Around The Corner. Gotta Stock Up On Barware. Not Just Me...YOU TOO! Nothing Says Class Like A Silver Rim Flute Full Of Champagne Or A Chalice Full Of Miller High Life...If You're On The South Side. Either Way, Got Ya Covered! Status: Party Ready!
Nice barware scores, right? I just got the Dorothy Thorpe style silver rim flutes today. The Ruby Red chalices were a weekend find that I'm just now getting around to unwrapping.

It's Been TOO Long Since ANYONE Has Been Able To See This View Of Our Living Room / Cocktail Lounge. And Yes, I Know It's Still A Mess...But At Least You Can See The Floor! Status: Beat.
Like I said yesterday, I've been working like a mad man clearing out the living spaces here at the Modtomic Ranch. I just managed to get about 95% done this morning before heading off to work. Alas, I had little time to actually clean and de-clutter before the Girlfriend's big All Girl Party.

South Bend Indiana. I Bet There's Someone Up There Looking For Some Vintage Style On The Cheap! Wanna See What We Can Find? Sure Ya Do. Status: Not My Turf!
Today we're gonna take a little stroll through the South Bend Indiana craigslist and look for some good looking vintage modern bargains. South Bend is no Chicago but with a little determination I was able to find a couple of interesting items that surely some one in the area might have missed.

If Your Gonna Have A (Vintage Modern) Bar Set Up In Your Living Room It Might Be A Good Idea To Class The Joint Up With a Couple Bottles If Wine. And How's Anybody Gonna See Those Classy Bottles Of Lambrusco If You Don't Got A Spiffy Wine Rack For To Display 'Em? Status: Painful Purchase.
What? That's right! I said it! Lambrusco. There, I said it again! Nothin' wrong with a little Riunite on ice...and a ham samwich. It's like Cool-aid for us Big Kids! But anyway, I got an early start towards work yesterday so I decided to stop by Treasure Aisle antique mall and kill a half hour.
