You might recall the "Cana-Danish Modern" bedroom set that I featured here back in March. That set caused quite an uproar with a local buyer who missed buying the set and was quite "vocal" about it, but this set was procured with much less drama.

Say, Remember That Canadian Made - Danish Modern Bedroom Suite That I Featured Here A Couple Months Ago? I've Got Another Set By The Same Company With An Even MORE Engaging Style. Status: Already Gone.

CanaDanish Modern? Who Knew That Canada Made Such Spectacular Vintage Modern Furniture? I Still Don't Have A Name For The Manufacturer Though. Can Anybody Help Out? Status: Mystery / Gone.
Sweet weekend score, right?! Have you ever seen a set like this before? I've only seen a piece similar to this at An Orange Moon in Chicago, but that was a buffet and while it did have a similar base, the details were different. No markings in the drawers for ID on it either.

Brutalism And Fancy Fishes! Who Needs Curtis Jere Or Flights Of Birds? The Style Smacks Of William Freidel But The Piece Doesn't Appear To Be Signed. Status: Available.
When I went out to pick up the pair of Pearsall style chairs I featured last time here on Mr. Modtomic I was lucky enough to find this exceptional vintage modern wall sculpture available as well. Of course I had to grab it up and now it's available out at Creve Coeur too.

The French Quarter Isn't A Bargain Hunter's Dream But We Do Have Our Favorite Shops To Haunt When In Town. On This Particular Trip We Didn't Buy Anything Here But Not For Lack Of Swoon Worthy Finds. Status: Mystery / Left Behind.
I was really digging this lucite and wood sculpture we found at Collectible Antiques on Decatur. I just couldn't pull that $150 trigger though. Thing is, I could almost swear that I've seen this piece before, probably on the web.

What St. Louis Lacks In Vintage Modern Shop Grapevine Info It Surely Makes Up For In Seriously Fine Stock And Choice. So MoModerne Moves It's Headquarters Out To The County...And No One Bothers To Tell A Mr.! Status: New Address - Same Great Taste.
I guess I've nobody to blame but myself. I have to say, I haven't been out to ANY of the vintage modern shop around town lately...and so why would any of these merchants bother to let me in on news as big as the moving of their store front...much less the opening of their Second Storefront!

The Only Thing Mr. Modtomic Brought Home From The Randolph Street Market Was A Camera For A Friend...Although The Girlfriend Cleaned Up On Salt And Pepper Shakers / Vintage Costume Jewelry. All I Got Was A Bunch Of Photos! Status: A BUNCH Of Photos!
This Mamiya medium (edit - thanks Bopfish!) format camera has been on a friends wish list for a Long Time. I've been looking for one for her for a Long Time. Finally, I found one at the Randolph Street Market during our recent visit. I'm just hoping that the thorough once over we gave it means it'll be a working unit...otherwise it's just a cool display piece! Look inside for about 50 more pics from the RSM flea!

Mr. Modtomic Is Blogcasting From The 2nd City This Evening After A Lovely Day At The Randolph Street Market Flea. I'm Doing So From The Cell Phone So I'm Gonna Keep This Brief, But Trust...It Was Worth The Five Hour Drive At 5 AM! Status: Explored!
After watching an episode of Market Warriors on PBS that featured the Randolph Street Market in Chicago I got in my head that I just HAD to get up there and see this flea for myself. Good thing this is a monthly flea market. It didn't take long for the next one to roll around...and consequently here we are!

Brutalist Post Vacation Road Finds. We're Almost Home Folks, No More Re-Runs! Status: Road Weary.
So I'm still out of town and am on the road home. We can't pass up a good antique mall and found a big one in Georgia where we happened upon this large brutalist cabinet.

While At The Green Shag Market Saturday (Had To Restock, Sold Lots Over The Weekend!) I Picked Up Another Piece Of Brutalist Art. Matches The Brutalist Clock I Have Very Nicely. Status: Similar But Different.
I've been eyeballin' this big piece of vintage plastic art for months. It was in another booth at the Green Shag Market but put up so high on the wall that I wasn't even sure it was for sale. I couldn't see a tag on it and for real, couldn't be bothered to ask. But when we stopped by this last Saturday to drop off some new items in My booth I saw it was sitting on the floor, much more easily accessed.

Yesterday's United Furniture Bedroom Set Score Yielded More Than Dressers And A Bed, While There I Noticed A Large Piece Of Art Above The Fireplace And Decided To Bring That Home As Well. Status: Cleaned And Ready.
1971? Wow, that's 42 years old! It's been Fall for 42 years and counting. The sellers who sold me that beautiful United Furniture bedroom set yesterday also sold me this. I asked about it as soon as I spotted it and they said, "yes, as a matter of fact we were just putting it on craigslist!". I'll take that too, thanks! Then I had to clean off 42 years of dust.

Did A Little Post X-Mas Shopping Down At Treasure Aisle This Evening. Picked Up Some Good Stuff And Took Some Photos Of Other Stuff. Wanna Check It Out? Status: Everybody Hold Hands So Nobody Gets Lost.
This amazing brutalist sculpture / centerpiece (?) was the first really cool thing we spotted today. It was pretty cool but...um, what is it? I like the base with all those Herman Miller / Brasilia looking bits braised together, but what's with all the wire bits...with nails (?) on the tips?

Still Out Scooping Up Smalls For Booth 44 AND The Green Shag Parking Lot Sale Coming Up This Weekend. Every Body Coming Down To Say Howdy? There Will Be Plenty Good Stuffs To Be Had! Status: Got 'Em Bagged, Getting 'Em Tagged.
A bit scary that, don't ya think? Kinda looks like one of those daft seemingly drug addled children's morning programming props...or characters even. But no. It's nothing like that at all! In fact, your Nanna might just have one full of candy proudly displayed in her home just this minute.

So I've Read On Various Similar Blogs About This Thrift Store Called "Savers". While Out Checking Traps Last Weekend In A Goodwill I Heard A Commercial Over The Store Radio For The Grand Opening Of Our OWN Savers. Status: Checked Out.
Yep, we back woods St. Louisians now have a Savers thrift store to call our very own. I was excited to hear that it would be open LATE too! Until 9pm most nights I think. So we made our way over to the new joint and took a looky 'round.

The Visit To Broadway Antique Market In Chicago Yielded So Many Pics That I Thought I'd Split The Lot Up Into A Couple Of Postings. Here's The Smalls. Status: So Much Good Stuff!
I still find it amazing that there are "antique" malls in Chicago that deal almost exclusively in vintage modern. I wonder if they curate their vendors in a way to ensure this great selection. In any event, the selection is absolutely amazing. But this serious Mass and Quality of selection comes at a price. Although I was able to pick up a couple nice bargains here, most of these vendors know Exactly what they have and have it priced accordingly!

Number Five And Six! Two More Hard To Find Vintage Modern Fireplace Tool Sets. Status: Soon To Be Available!
The vintage modern brutalist fireplace tool set I featured here a few days ago is now available at the Green Shag Market in Booth 44. It was the fourth such set of tools like this to pass through our doors here. Our first set has moved on to the Living Analog joint, we have a keeper set and now I have FOUR sets available!

The Last Of The Weekends Estate Sale Booty - This Brutal Fireplace Tool Set - Was Found Quite By Lucky Happenstance. Status: Soon To Be Available.
After quickly wrapping up the Dorothy Thorpe chip and dip set (featured yesterday) that I picked up from estate sale #2, I started making my way home to get a few hours of much needed sleep. I am not a fan of leaving sleep on the table, but I spotted a green hand made "Estate Sale -->" sign at a corner. Ugh. Of course I turned around.

Is This Not EXACTLY What You Picture In Your Mind When Asked To Envision A Rural Antique Shop? You'll Never Guess What I Found Inside! Status: Seriously Not "Antique"!
I will be the first to admit - I MUCH prefer to dig through an old "iffy" looking joint like this as apposed to a sterile, scrubbed antique mall. There just seems to be so much more opportunity to find something amazing in a joint like this (Village Square Antiques in Pocahontas Il), right? Not really, this is just an antique mall...in an antique building! Still, there is something about the hope!

On Our Way East Toward New York State We Made A Pit Stop In Columbus Oh. You Know I Can't Stop And Not Shop! Revue - Columbus OH. Status: Oh Yeah...They Got GOOD Stuff!
Nice pair, dontcha think?! We were barely into the first aisle in Revue - a Columbus OH antique mall and consignment shop - when we ran into this pair of Knoll Barcelona chairs. Oh how I loves me some Barcelona chairs! That got the camera out and it was well worth my time to do so. There was plenty there to photograph. If you live in or near Columbus OH you have a little of my envy! From the little we traveled through, we found it quite nice!

Mr. Mod. Makes A Pass Through MoMod. Mothers Day On The South Side. Status: Fresh Stock.
The Girlfriend and I met with the Moms downtown this (late) morning for a Mothers Day brunch. Good foods were had and the weather was just nice enough that we were able to sit outside. The getting out of bed early (Mr. Modtomic is so not a morning person) kinda kicked my butt, but I still had just enough juice left to make a little trip to the MoModerne showroom in South City.
