What a day. Beautiful weather, shifting merch. and hauling in more! I spent 5 hours today buying, hauling, moving, cleaning, tagging and photographing new items for my booth at the Antique Mall of Creve Coeur. Pretty great way to spend a Saturday if you ask me!

Thanks To Jennifer Kestler (One Of Mr. Modtomics Intrepid Readership And Commenters) We Can All Rest A Little Bit Easier Knowing That We CAN In Fact Convert Standard Shades To Clip On Shades For our Vintage "Bowless" Lamps! Check 'Em Out! Status: Investigated.
A few days ago I featured a couple of new lamp shades that I picked up at the Goodwill hoping to be able to use them on a pair of vintage lamps that I had picked up quite a while back. When I got home with the shades I realized my error. The lamps required clip on shades...the shades were not clip on. Enter reader comments and Mr. Modtomic reader Jennifer Kestler.

Anybody Interested In Giving A Fellow Collector / Entrepreneur A Leg Up Via Kickstarter? Mr. Christo Is Hoping To Provide Budding Collectors With A Pocket Field Guide If Only He Can Meet His Investment Goal. Status: On His Way!
A few days ago I received an intriguing request via Twitter. Christo (of Modwagen) asked if I might be interested in promoting his Kickstarter program here. After hearing him out and realizing it was a worthy endeavor, I decided to do what I could. Now it's up to you!

Restoration of an Adrian Pearsall Sofa, Part Three…Or... Measure Twice, As You Would Have Others Do Unto…errr…A Cut In Hand Is Worth Two On The… ummm…Never Mind
Oh yeah, "Measure twice, cut once" is the proverb we're looking for, and if there is a rule #1 in upholstery, (No. Really. I don't know if there is a rule #1) this might be it. "Don't talk about upholstery rule #1" is probably a close second. We left off last time with new straps, burlap, foam, and dacron on our seat platform, and now it's time to start laying on fabric.

You Might Remember These Norman Cherner Chairs From A Post A Few Weeks Ago Wherein I Had Featured Them In All Their Messy As Found Glory. I've Finally Had A Chance To Knock The Cobwebs Off (Literally) And Clean 'Em Up All Nice. Wanna Take A Peek? Status: Ready For Tags.
If I didn't already have my set of dreamy Kai Kristiansen Rosewood dining chairs I'd keep these for myself and hope to find a few more to populate my dining arrangement with them. Alas, I think I may be done swapping out dining chairs, so these must find a new home.

Another (Sorta) Before And After! It's Really Just A Couple Of Shots Of One Cleaned Up Base And One Not So Much On A Pair Of Burke Upholstered Shell Chairs I Picked Up Over The Weekend. Status: Half Way There?
It's amazing what a little steel wool and cleaning solution can accomplish! The seats and upholstery on this pair of Burke side chairs are in great shape but the bases have seen better days. They've suffered at the feet of who knows how many people for who knows how many years. Time to clean 'em up!

One Of The Many Offerings I'll Be Serving Up At The New Shop (Fleur De Lis Home Source - Frenchtown) Is A Very Fine Broyhill Saga Desk...That Needs A Chair. Can A Lane Ladder Back Fit The Bill? Status: Scrubbed.
I haven't had a chance to recover the seat (Jezus...that seat...it was SO disgusting) but last night I pulled this out of the garage to give it some much needed love. Yikes, it was nasty. It had been stored in a basement for years and it was coated in every one of those years worth of detritus.

Wow! Talk About Service With A Smile! The Proprietors At The Green Shag Not Only Had To Dig Out The Sater Sofa, But They Also Took The Time And Effort To Seriously Re-arrange My Space To Fill The Void! Status: Appreciative!
I stopped by the Green Shag Market this morning before work to check the state of my booth since I knew the Sater leather sofa was sold and was supposed to be picked up this week and the spider leg table was also gone. I wanted to see what kinda situation I was going to have to deal with this weekend.

Picked Up Some Dirty Dirty DIRTY (Mr. Mod. Likes It Dirty) Little Tables At The Belleville Flea Market Saturday. Let's See If They'll Clean Up Enough To "Take Home To Mother". Status: Did I Mention "Dirty"?
Ever "pass" on an item(s) at a flea market, thrift or antique mall thinking "if it's still there when..." only to find yourself either relieved or disappointed that it disappeared before you got back around to it? This happened a couple of times to me Saturday, but not with these filthy things.

Got Up Early To Enjoy This Fine Thursday Morning And Work On A Lamp. Status: Shiny But Not Perfect.
This floor lamp looked pretty rough when I spotted it at the Green Shag Market a little over a month ago but it was just so cheap. It had good bones as they say. I thought, even if I have to paint the metal it'll be worth taking home, but I was hoping that I could just clean it up and it would be fine. Well...

It Just Finds Me. Well, OK...I'll Admit, I Do A Tiny Bit Of Looking. Another Broyhill Brasilia Dining Set. Status: Almost Available.
Ok, so two of the chairs are spoken for and I'll be trading out one of my standard chairs for the armchair so it's really gonna be a four chair set with a drop leaf oval table dining set. It needs some love so it's not yet available but I thought I'd show it off anywayz.

So I Tole Ya I Was Gonna Find A Way To Try And Clean The Herman Miller Chiclet Sofa Before Paying The Pros, Right? Status: It Has Begun.
It's just elegant how easy it is to take the Herman Miller Chiclet sofa apart. Just 16 studs hold it together. And it only took one with a wrench to take it apart. Ah cha cha chaaa... (how cool am I?)

Sunday Craigslist Coffee Table Score. Picked Up This Lane Mosaic Piece On My Way Home From The Flea Mkt. Status: Cleaned And Ready.
Mr. Modtomic gets requests for Mid Century Modern long coffee tables via craigslist quite often so I try to pick them up whenever I can. This one was a craigslist find Sunday but it needed a little love, and a little love it got.

Here's A Little Better "Before / After" Of The Frem Rojle Dining Chairs That I Picked Up Recently. Danish Oil = Awesome! Status: 90 Percent Done.
I all but finished the cleanup of the Hans Olsen set of dining chairs that I picked up just before our little trip to San Francisco two weeks ago. That's got to be a record for Mr. Modtomic. I'm not real swift with the "project gettin' to's", but this one was so dang easy and yielded such purdy results! The chair on the left is done while the one on the right was waiting patiently.

Back In Town. Back To The Projects. Pulled The Frem Rhojl Set Out And Got Started. Status: It Has Begun.
You might remember this set of Hans Olsen for Frem Rojle danish dining chairs that I dropped a post about a few days back. I had just procured the set (from the localest of local Goodwills) and hadn't gotten a chance to so much as wipe them down. Well, I opened the Garage door this afternoon and they were easiest to grab.

This Sad, Dirty, Forlorn Shadowbox / Mirror Was Waiting For Mr. Modtomic To Rescue It At The Wentzville Flea Market Last Weekend. Status: Saved.
"Before"
When I drove out to Columbia Mo. to pick up the Drexel table and chairs last Sunday I took a few minutes to make a quick pass through the Wentzville Flea Market. I didn't pick up much but there were a few items worth running back to the car. This nasty, dirty display made the cut since I could see the potential.

Nick Made A Minor Comment About My Pair Of Bose Speaker Stands Come Tulip Tables And That's All It Took. Status: Blogged.
Can't hardly believed that I never blogged these tables before. It's kind of a before and after...well, without so much of the before. C'mon, you can use your imagination to picture the before, right?

Hot or Not? Mr. Modtomic Is No Expert On Glass But Was Smitten By This Pair Of Hand Made Glass Vases. I Just Couldn't Pull The Trigger. Status: Left Behind.
I kinda liked this pair of yellow glass vases that I spotted at the Goodwill down the street last weekend. Unfortunately they were $4 each...which doesn't sound like much does it? But $8 for a pair of pretty glass vases that I have no real need for is $8 that I'd rather spend on something worth $25 that I have no need for! Know what I mean?
