Our trip to the Litchfield Pickers Market yielded more than the little stool and phone I featured a couple days ago. This nice size acrylic modernist painting was also sourced on that lovely fall day. The little mod Tensor desk lamp was a thrift find that had been loitering in the back of the car for who knows how long...you know how it is.

A Couple More Small Items Picked Up Over The Last Few Weekends. Mod Desk Lights Aren't So Hard To Find But Original Mid Century Paintings...Good Luck! Status: Available.

Another Item Crossed Of My List. I Finally Found A Vintage Koch And Lowy Reading / Pharmacy Lamp! Not An Easy Find It Seems...Unless You're Looking In My Booth At The Time Machine Antique Mall. Status: Available.
I see tons of similar brass floor lamps at the thrift stores all the time, but a real Koch and Lowy? Not so much. This one turned up on craigslist and sat there for a few days before even I noticed it. Hard to believe I was the only one to notice it.

Almost Forgot About These Smalls From The Rutledge Flea. I Love The Diversity Of Items One Can Acquire At The Flea Market. Need A Ceramic Panther TV Light? Check! Mid Century Modern Candle Sconces? No Problem! Status: Available.
It's kinda crazy the difference in finds between my first visit to Rutledge and this, my second visit. Heck, I thought I was done with this haul last time I posted Items from that flea and here I am with more!

Sometimes I Do Things Out Of Order. I Searched Images On The Internet For About An Hour Trying To ID This Vintage Fluorescent Desk Lamp...And Then I Took A Second Look At The Lamp For A Label. Oh, It's Got A Fostoria Sticker. Status: ID'd.
So yeah, ID success! Yet still, I cannot find another Fostoria 1950s desk lamp like this on the webernets. I know I've seen this particular lamp around before so I thought it'd be easy to find a couple online. Not so much.

You Find All Sorts Of Containers At The Thrift Stores. Here We've Got A Couple Of Coffee Cups, A Small Planter And A Very Interesting Christmas Tree Stand. Status: Collected.
You like me? Always finding plastic bags with stuff wrapped in newspaper in 'em? It's the curse of the avid thriftbreaker. "Thriftbreak"? you ask? Yeah, it's apparently a hashtag used on twitter by those of us who scour the thrifts, fleas, estate sales and antique malls to show off or call for help in IDing items.

Yes Yes, I Realize It's Been About A Month...But Half Of That Was My Being Trapped On A Deserted Island (St. Thomas USVI - Our 2015 Vacation). Here's A Cool Lamp And A Neat Glass Head From Recent Thriftbreak Excursions! Status: Soon To Be Available.
Yeah, after a couple of weeks off (believe me...there is NOTHING vintage modern to talk about on St. Thomas Island) it has been tough getting back on the horse. That and Flickr has messed with it's interface again, making it tougher to post from a phone.

Another Before And After! This Time It's A Clean-up Tip. Ever Had Bar Keepers Friend Recommended To Clean Knife Marks Off Your China? Guess What, It Works! Status: Skepticism Fail.
Years ago I found a pair of yellow Fiesta dinner plates at the thrift store with utensil marks all over them. Some kind soul recommended that I try Bar Keepers Friend to clean them up and I passed, choosing instead to use 0000 steel wool, baking soda and a lot of elbow grease to achieve the same result. Today, I eat crow.

There's Something Magical About Finding Not Only A Matched Pair Of 3 Way Vintage Lamps But Also Their Matching Matched Pair Of Lamp Shades. That Was Kind Of A Mouth Full! Status: Gone!
Yeah, I KNOW! Number Four and Five! What? You haven't been keeping count? I have found three other lamp bases JUST like these, though none have had the original shades with them. One has already found a new home and the other two are waiting for new shades.

It's Like, You Can Go Weeks Finding Zilch At The Thrifts...Then One Day - Pla-cow! The Heavens Open Up And Pour Upon You An Abundance! This Time, A Cool Little Lytegem. Status: Bulbless
When you spot a Lightolier at the thrift store, it comes home with you...even if it is this tiny little desk telescope eyeball thing missing its bulb. Problem is, I think it may be missing a little bit more than just the bulb.

Yup, Went Back For The Kagan Sofa Piece And Found It Was Gone...But This Trio Of Bent Glass Nesting End Tables Was Waiting In Its Stead. Status: Clearly Cool / GONE.
After reading nothing but "Turn your butt around and go get that Kagan sofa"s from you guys, I finally did decide to do so. Alas, it was too late. The sofa was gone. But all was not lost, looky at the purdy nesting end tables I brought home in their place!

Our Good Friend Illuminate Nabbed This Collection Of Blue Heaven Dishes For Me A While Back And I Just Now Got Around To Unpackaging Them. It's An Unussual Set, But That's What You Get When You Shop Second Hand...Right?! Status: Collected.
Illuminate came by for our annual Nightmare Before Christmas party and brought with her 3 bags from the Goodwill. I remember her texting me about some Blue Heaven she had spotted at a thrift a while back but had forgotten all about it. What a strange "set".

I Didn't Bring This Small Vladimir Kagan Microfiber Sofa Home From The Goodwill Saturday, But Obviously I Thought Long And Hard About It. Did I Make A Mistake By Leaving It Behind? Status: Hot Or Not?
I can't seem to find an exact match for this Kagan New York Collection small sofa or sectional part on the web so I can't really figure out if it's worth messing with or not. Anybody out there in readership land have any idea whether this was worth picking up or was leaving it there a better idea?

Apparently There Was A Pair Of Overman Highback Swivel Armchairs Available At The St. Vincent Thrift, But The Other Had Already Been Snatched Up. I Was A Little Disappointed Until I Found Out This One Was Half Off! Status: Needs Some Feet / GONE.
This Overman lounge chair was just a lucky find. I had already picked up a large dining table and five dining chairs and did not anticipate having to find more room in the back of Frank for this! Did I mention that the furniture was half off this particular day?

Last Evening The Girlfriend And I Presented Our Annual Nightmare Before Christmas Party And My Good Friend Illuminate (Who We Haven't Seen In A While) Came To Hang With Us. Then Today She Texted Me Some Ridiculous Pics From A Local Goodwill. Status: Had To Share!
Yes, you are reading that tag right. ONE THOUSAND AND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Would you pay $1,500 for ANYTHING from a goodwill? And that is for just ONE piece of a three piece set! ::Sigh:: This is what happens when someone gets a little bit of a lot of information.

Out And About Today To Pick Up Some Craigslist Goodies, I Stopped By A Couple Of Thrifts And Found This Cool Retro TV Lamp And A Weird Bit Of PC Electronica. Status: Strange Blog-fellows / lamp = GONE.
This vintage TV lamp really isn't Modern or Atomic...but it is Retro, and we do Retro around these here parts. The mysterious black box...well, it'd be a mystery then wouldn't it?

The Name Ward Bennett Rang A Bell, The Craftsmanship Caught My Eye And The Price Sold Me On This Leather And Ash Lamp Table. Status: Farm Fresh.
I haven't found many tables like this on the web to compare this to but I have seen a couple on 1stDibs. That doesn't necessarily indicate a "home run", but it's a good sign none the less. And, this one isn't so much perfect...but for Eight bucks? C'mon!

Sometimes The Thrifts Provide The Necessities You Don't Even Know You Need. Well, Maybe Not NECESSITIES, But Certainly Useful And At A Fraction Of What These Cost New! Status: Utility Wares.
I picked up the fold flat dolly early this last spring, so it's been around a while. The modular aluminum camera case is a recent find...that I'm not really sure why I need it, but it was like $12. Couldn't leave it behind!

Yeah, Christmas Is Still Ages Away...But When You Find Retro Seasonal Stuff, You Don't Look The Gift Horse In The Mouth. Status: Fa La La La La, In The Booth Real Soon.
It's no secret, Mr. Modtomic LOVES the Christmas Season. I love the decorations, the commercials, the snow, and most of all...the music! I don't normally make much of an effort to offer Christmas decor in my booths because it's so dang hard to find any that aren't just...antique-y.

It's Been A Little Lean 'Round These Parts Lately. I Didn't Make It To The Flea The Weekend Before Last And Sunday Was Kind Of A Bust Too. At Least The Trifts Still Deliver. Found This Buffet Server Pot And A Nice Frankoma Teapot Over The Weekend. Status: Collected.
I haven't been scouring the thrifts lately and thus haven't been finding that much by way of goodies. Even so, I did manage to drag home a nice pair of pots - one "tea" and one "soup". Both in perfect condition!

Wanna See What $8.50 Got Mr. Modtomic At The Goodwill This Afternoon? No, It Wasn't An Epic Haul But Neither Was It Too Shabby For An Unscheduled Stop. Status: Satisfied.
You KNOW Mr. M cannot resist some silver fade Dorothy Thorpe style bar ware! The funny thing is, they were half the price of the "rocks" glasses I picked up too. Both the cashier and myself could do little more than twist our faces up In bemusement and shrugg.
