We have been living in hotels in Texas for the last week and a half. Why? That is a good question. I wish I could fully answer that question but it is kind of complicated, so here is the kind of not really uncomplicated answer.
To sell alarms they have to be licensed otherwise they can get a citation/go to jail if caught by the police. Usually it is no big deal to get licensed in a state but Oklahoma is ridiculous. They have to take a test before they can get licensed but before they can take the test their licensing paperwork has to be processed. Our paper work HAS NOT been processed, so we can't take the test and we can't sell in Oklahoma yet. WHEW....Make sense?
So instead of sitting around in Oklahoma were we can't sell and therefore have no job, we have been going to Texas were we can sell and the licensing isn't quite so strict. Ben has been doing really great down in Texas which I am really grateful for. But the hard part is being in a hotel with Reese all day long. She gets restless and lets be honest I can only watch so much T.V. before it gets old.
To save money we make our own meals in advance at our apartment in Oklahoma. Then we put them in Ziploc bags and put them in a cooler to keep them nice and cool until we get to the hotel. Then for dinner we reheat them. It saves a TON of money and is much healthier than eating out every day.
We have been trying to find different things to do. The first hotel that we stayed in had a pool. Reese got the cutest little swimming suit for her birthday back in February.
We had a lot of fun hanging out at the pool swimming. Reese LOVES the water and gets so excited whenever she sees a swimming pool.
She does get a little nervous though when you try to lay her back in the water. I was a little afraid she was going to pull my swimming top down she was gripping it so tightly!
I think by the end of the summer she will have become a little beach babe...minus the beach.
The 2nd hotel room we stayed in had a lot of grass area to play in. Reese and I would go on walks. We bought bubbles and blew bubbles.
We bought a ball and she has had a "ball" kicking it around and chasing it. The room wasn't the greatest and the pool was SUPER DIRTY but we had fun playing outside.
We also found a little zoo to go and visit. I'll be honest...it was a rip off. It took us 30 minutes to go through the whole zoo. They didn't have a lot of animals {mostly birds} and the ones we did see were asleep. We did see a couple of giraffes and they had some goats you could feed but that was about all that was exciting there. Reese was terrified of the goats and wouldn't come close when they would stick their heads out.
But I'll be honest....he made me a little nervous too. What kid wouldn't be scared of this weird looking animal staring right at him? She did like it when they laid right next to the fence and she would reach in and touch them.
It wasn't quite so scary
Right across the street from the zoo they had an awesome playground. Too bad Reese was too small for it but they did have swings and we took full advantage of those. She loves to swing.
Well those have been our adventures in the last week and a half. I think we have two more weeks in hotels and they I think we will be permanent residents of Oklahoma city...HOPEFULLY!
