Ode to Hair

The topic of hair comes up quite a bit in our house.
Why?
Because of this girl

When this sweet little girl was born she had lots of beautiful black hair

As she got a little bit older all of that beautiful black hair...
kind of...
 fell out
And our little girl became a baldy
Where did all of that beautiful black hair go???

I always wanted a baby with LOTS of hair
Whenever I see a newborn with tons of hair I get the tiniest bit jealous
Reese's hair has slowly been growing back
but it grew back kind of funny
Lots of hair in the back
very little in the front
I kept the headband on her head for as long as should would let me
but there comes an age when a child only allows so much
the headband was gone at 10 or 11 months
since then we have been doing a little pigtail on top

I ALWAYS get comments on her hair
complete strangers will tell me how they use to do their girls hair like Reese's
I never know how to take them
Are they are telling me she looks ridiculous?
Or are they being sincere when they tell me her hair looks cute?

I just try not to worry about it
One day Miss Reese will have LOTS of beautiful hair

but for now we will just enjoy the awkward mullet stage until those beautiful locks come in

Finger Paints

One of the worst things about summer sales is that we don't get to bring a whole lot of our stuff with us when we come out for the summer.  We only get to bring what we can fit in our little Honda Accord.  So by the time we pack the "essential" kitchenware, clothes, and bedding there isn't a whole lot of room for our entertainment things.  We bring the most important entertainment things...the lap top and some of Reese's toys so after that it is up to me and Reese to create our own entertainment.  Sometimes that gets hard.

A few weeks ago I got the idea for finger paints.  We didn't have any on hand so I thought for sure there was a recipe out there somewhere on the internet to make your own finger paints.  To tell you the truth the finger paints weren't that great, they were kind of pathetic.  But Reese had a good time and it was a different form of entertainment for a little while.
She painted a beautiful picture of grass and trees.  After she was done I would have loved to have taken her outside and hosed her down, but we live in an apartment complex with no hoses.  So I scrubbed her and her booster seat down and set them both out to dry on the deck.
Thank goodness for cheap entertainment!

Alcoholics Anonymous

Living in Oklahoma City for these past few months have taught me some VERY important lessons.
1.  Always ask for a drink that is non-alcoholic
2.  Never assume a drink doesn't have alcohol in it...looks can be deceiving
3.  Always, ALWays, ALWAYS ask before for picking up a drink

Me and alcohol have had quite the run in here in Oklahoma.  We live in these SUPER nice apartments.  I LOVE them, but the apartment complex was made for single college students and most things that the apartment complex does are for them.  One Saturday in May the apartment threw a BBQ and had free food and music.  The food was EXCELLENT.  I went to get a drink and noticed LOTS of alcohol.  I asked for a non-alcoholic lemonade.  As I was waiting for my drink I noticed a pitcher with kiwis and strawberries in it and I heard someone say that it was kiwi, strawberry, lemonade.  YUMMY!  I knew I had to go back and get some later on.  So I ate my dinner with two other girls whose husbands are out here also.  I told them about this yummy looking drink that I wanted to run back down and try before we left.  On our way out we stopped to get that delicious looking strawberry, kiwi, lemonade drink.  One of the other wives went first and placed her order.  The lady at the bar asked if she wanted a different drink for her little boy, my friend said no and that she would share her drink with him.  The bartender said, "what!?!?"  My friend repeated that she would share her drink with him.  This lady flipped, that drink has alcohol in it she said.  Needless to say we couldn't stop laughing on our way home.

Last weekend the apartment complex was having a brunch.  One of the other wives and myself decided to go.  We got there and they had all of this YUMMY food.  They had muffins, fruit galore, parfaits, biscuits and gravy, and yummy seasoned potatoes.  It was delicious.  For a drink they had orange juice.  It looked innocent, but as I learned looks can be deceiving.  I picked up my glass of orange juice on my way out and took a sip.... BLAH!!!  It was the MOST disgusting thing in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD!!!  Seriously, who puts alcohol in orange juice!?!?  I couldn't believe it!!!  I went and threw it down the sink and washed my mouth out with some water.

The sad thing about this second experience is Ben had told me the night before to make sure that I asked someone about the drinks before I picked one up.  But SERIOUSLY who would have ever thought that there would be alcohol in orange juice.  Maybe I am just extremely naive but I never thought I would have to worry about a glass of orange juice.

So what have I learned?
I ALWAYS need to...
1. ask for a non-alcoholic drink
2. Never assume ANYTHING
3.  Never pick up a drink without asking what is in it
Lesson learned!!

Mommy and Me

That's right guys, it's me...Reese!!!  Mommy doesn't let me type on the computer very often but she did today.  I am SOOOOOOO excited to tell you about all of the things me and Mommy do together.

Daddy isn't home a lot so I get to spend LOTS of time with my Mommy.

One of my favorite things to do with my Mommy is to help her clean.  She lets me open and close the dishwasher all of the time.  She even lets me start it sometimes, but then she will turn it off, so I turn it on again {I never understand why she wants to stop it}.
One of my favorite ways to help mommy clean is sweeping.  It is SO fun, you should try it one day!
Sometimes Mommy tickles my toes with the broom and it makes me laugh.  I love helping mom to make messes and then I LOVE to help clean them up.
Mommy is sooooo nice to let me makes messes whenever I want to.

Mommy also takes me outside all of the time.  We go on long walks, she lets me climb up and down the stairs, we look at all the pretty flowers and bushes, we run from dogs, we play with bubbles, and we draw lots of pictures on the sidewalks.  Usually mommy won't let me draw in books, but she does let me draw on the sidewalks.
I don't really understand what the difference is between a book and the sidewalk but mom lets me scribble as much as I want on the sidewalk.  I also like to eat the chalk, mommy says it is yucky, but I don't mind the taste.

I also have a couple of buddies that I get to play with.  They are soooo much fun to play with.  Their names are Lucas, Lillian, and Taber.  Sometimes they come over to my house and play with my toys.
This one time Lillian came over to play, Mommy made us a fort.  We took all of my books inside the fort and read them.  We also had tons of fun running in and out of the fort.
We also go to the zoo a lot with Lillian and Lucas.  Me and Lucas got to ride in the same stroller.  It was so fun {and I secretly wanted to hold his hand the whole time...he is kind of cute, but don't tell mommy I said so}.

My mommy and me eat lots of snacks together.  Some of my favorite snacks are strawberries, grapes, fruit snacks, cheese, Popsicles, and goldfish.  Goldfish are my all time favorite.  I try to sneak into the snack cupboard and eat them all of the time.
Sometimes my mommy will let me eat them, especially when I give her my cheeser smile.  Then she lets me do anything I want.

I also read lots of books during the day.  Mommy loves to read me books and sometimes I read her a book or two.  I love to go out on our deck and take my books out there and just enjoy the nice breeze while reading a good book.
My favorite book is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  But I accidentally ripped it so now I don't like it as much.  I also like to go out on the deck and throw my toys off of it.  Mommy usually says, no, no, no, but it is really funny to watch her run down the stairs and go and get my toys.

Another thing that I LOVE to do is climb inside things.  I love to climb in side the cupboards.  It is so much fun to explore in there.  Sometimes I bump my head and it hurts a lot.  I try to be a big girl and not cry but I just can't help it sometimes.  But oh how I love to climb inside things.

Mommy has tried a couple of times to put pigtails in my hair.  I HATE pigtails.  They pull the little hairs at my neck and I think my hair looks funny.  So when mommy isn't looking I rub my hair until the pigtails fall out.  Then she has to put in my one little pigtail on top.  I REALLY don't like pigtails!

Mommy and Daddy say that I am mischievous.  I really don't know what that means, all I know is that I like to make mommy and daddy laugh.  They taught me all of my body parts and I know where they are but now when they ask me where anything is I just point to my nose and say nose.  If they ask me where my eyes are, I say nose.  If they ask me where my toes are, I say nose.  They think it is really funny.
My life is soooooo great!  I get to do so many fun things with my mommy and daddy.  They are so fun to play with.   I LOVE that they like to play with me every single day.  Sometimes though, I get super tired from playing all day long and fall asleep while eating so I have to take a little nap so I have energy to play some more.

I am pretty sure mommy has no idea what to do when I am asleep.
