Three Strikes

Last night we had GREAT plans!  Our ward was selling Texas Ranger tickets for 10 bucks a piece!  To say the least, we were excited.  Ben was especially excited because they would be playing the Angels {once a Californian, always a Californian}.  He told us that we were going to watch/cheer for the Angels play NOT the Rangers.

We got the kids all dressed in their blue and red attire, grabbed our jackets, packed my purse full of fruit snacks, diapers, and wipes.  We were off.  Unfortunately things did not turn out the way we had planned.  It started raining.  Strike One!  My back has been hurting for a couple days and yesterday was the worst day yet.  Strike Two!  And to top everything off...  We forgot the tickets.  Strike Three!  After considering all of these factors we decided to skip the game and just go out to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen.

We enjoyed a good dinner, looked at our neighbors spooky Halloween decorations, and sat outside on our deck listening to the rain.  Although we would have loved to have gone to the game, we still had a good time doing random things together.

David

Last week Ben saw his first patient.  He was kind of nervous and stayed late the night before to prepare for meeting his patient.  This past weekend Ben brought home the prosthetic leg that he made for his patient.
We were all quite impressed especially Reese.  She was quite obsessed with that leg.  She kept asking whose leg it was and Ben told her that it was for David.

Monday morning as Reese and I were playing, we decided to make a craft.  She told me that she was going to make a frog and I was going to make a David.  I didn't have any idea what a David was so we kept playing.

Later on that day Reese asked me where daddy was.  I told her that he was at school.  She then asked me if daddy was at school with David.  I was confused again and said that daddy didn't know a David.  I tried tossing out a name of one of Ben's friends at school and asking if that is who she meant.  She said no and then said, "is daddy at school with daddy's leg?"  I then remembered that we named the leg David.  I laughed and said, "yes Daddy is at school with David."

We are so proud of Ben and all of his hard work and we are definitely impressed with his prosthetic leg {especially Reese}!

Rub-a-dub dub

There's a baby in my tub!
There is one thing that Benson loves more than anything.  That is the tub.  The tub is a very magical place that can calm Benson down when I can't.  He has loved the tub since he was just a baby.  He loves to splash and play and drink the water.

One thing that has made the tub even more fun is Reese.  Benson and Reese finally get to take their baths together and they love it {so do I, it is a lot less work}.  Reese loves having someone to play with and dump water on.  Benson loves being able to crawl on top of Reese and splash her.  It is 15 minutes of pure bliss!

The Crawler

Our small man child is ON THE MOVE!!!

Benson started crawling about a week and a half ago so this video is a little old and he has gotten a lot better and a lot quicker!

We are so excited that he is crawling because he doesn't sit and cry because he can't follow Reese around.  Which means Reese and Benson have started playing together and entertaining each other!  It is heaven!

I am always amazed how quick kids learn.  Once Benson started crawling really well, he realized that he could start climbing up things.  We have only had a few accidents.  He is learning new things so fast!

Benson also has a favorite place to hang out in.
Where is it you ask?
Well it is a place that I wish he didn't love so much...
That's right, the bathroom!  Yes of all places he like the bathroom the most.  He loves to hangout in there.  Why?  Because he loves the bathtub and so he goes and sits rights in front of the tub hoping that I will put him in.

We cannot believe how quickly this little boy is growing and learning.  Before we know he is going to be walking and running and probably sitting on top of  Reese {payback is sweet}!

Videos

My father-in-law asked me a few weeks ago if I ever took videos of the kids, unfortunately I do not pull out the video camera very often.  After he asked me I made sure to sit out the video camera so I would use it more often.  So these are some of the videos I have taken in the last 2 weeks.

Reese loves the movie Tangled.  She pretends that her scarf is her long beautiful hair.  She drapes it over the chair and tells me to climb up her hair.  She also likes to sing the song When will my life begin and twirl her long beautiful hair around {the scarf}.  Funny girl!

We went swimming and made sure to take the video camera out with us so we could tape the kids swimming.  Unfortunately Reese wouldn't really swim for the camera.  It seems like whenever I turn the camera on my kids become camera shy.

Pintrest

Pintrest what would I do without you?
Yes I will finally admit it...I LOVE Pintrest!
I heard about Pintrest last summer from a friend but I didn't really see the point of joining.  I mean I could still go on Pintrest and search for things I wanted to do.  "Who needs Pintrest" I told myself.  So I bookmarked things to my laptop instead.
After a year of bookmarking my list of bookmarks was getting WAY too big.  Then we moved to Dallas and Ben was gone ALL DAY LONG and I needed ideas of fun things to do with Reese.  So I would browse Pintrest and find lots of ideas and bookmark away.  But my bookmarking was getting out of control and I finally understood the point of Pintrest.  So I joined.  Pintrest and I have had a WONDERFUL relationship!  We have a had lots of fun creating new crafts, trying some really yummy recipes {some not so yummy}, and I am excited for the holidays to try making some of my pins!
We now have a wall dedicated to all of the crafts that Reese and I do together.  We have to take some of them down because it gets a little crowded sometimes.  How grateful I am for Pintrest and the many great {and not so great} ideas of fun things to do with my kiddos.
Thank you, thank you Pintrest {what did I ever do without you}!

The Weekend

Oh how I LOVE the weekend!
There are many things I love about the weekend.
Number one is Ben is home {it is the best}
We have long weekends because Ben doesn't have school on Fridays {LOVE it}
Ben helps out with the cooking {it's great}
We hang out with friends
Eat yummy food
We go out to dinner every once in a while
Swimming is usually included in our weekend plans
We usually try to find something fun to do
This past weekend we went to St. Ann's Carnival
A random guy gave us his tickets
So we didn't have to spend ANY money
Reese had a blast on the rides
And Benson...
He doesn't really care what we do as long it is outside
So glad they are easy to please
We sure do love our weekends
Just wish they lasted a little bit longer sometimes!

Cupcakes and Birthdays

In our family all of our birthdays fall in the beginning of the year.  Two in February, one in March, and one in April.  Reese loves birthdays and has been wanting to celebrate a birthday for a while now.  Every once in a while she will pull out all of my bowls, mixers, pans, and tells me that she is making a birthday cake!

Sunday afternoon she wanted to make daddy a birthday cake for his birthday.  I indulged her and we made cupcakes.  After we baked and frosted our cupcakes she wanted to sing happy birthday to daddy.  So we sang happy birthday to him and then she told him to blow out the candle.

Well we have been replaying this same scenario for the past two days.
Except instead of singing happy birthday to daddy I get to sing happy birthday to her.  She gets all excited and then blows out the candle {of course our candle is imaginary}.
I love that Reese gets so excited about things.  We have had fun celebrating birthdays for the past few days but I don't think we are going to make cupcakes for a while...too much partying for me!
Plus, birthdays mean growing older and I don't want my Reesie girl to get any older any quicker than she has to.
